Brian told Mitch and Rachel the date of the divorce hearing has been set. Rachel and Mitch told Brian about the social worker’s visit. Quinn told Denny about the Blackhawk Project and admitted to never meeting Mr. Black face to face. Philip hoped to Mac his suspicions about the Arena would be confirmed in court. Sandy told Brian that Jerry’s gun was in Jordan’s possession. Rachel resented Alice’s attention to Amanda. Philip told James he’s beginning to agree with his suspicions about Jordan Scott and the syndicate. Sandy told Brian about working for Jordan to spare Jerry, and about Jordan’s black book. Louise warned Alice not to try and replace Rachel as Amanda’s mother. Cecile drugged a martini for James before Sally could catch her. Sandy surrendered Ilsa’s black book to Zachary after being cross-examined. Brian planned to read Jordan's black book after asking Sandy why he didn't mention its existence before. Ada told Louise it was probably too late for Mac and Rachel to reconcile. James and Cecile complimented Sally on her help for the party. Leigh talked to James about moving in with Sally. Cecile told Marianne and Kit that Marianne wasn't meant to have a baby right now. James asked Melissa about Sandy's whereabouts. Sally convinced Leigh to mingle, but Leigh left with Rick after agreeing that they're not having a good time. James convinced Sandy to come to James and Cecile’s party. Denny told Clarice that he’s intrigued by his new employer. Rachel told Ada she doesn’t want Alice near Amanda. Sandy and Rick tended to James, who felt ill after drinking. Mitch was too tired to hear about Rachel’s bad day. James collapsed under the influence of Cecile’s pills. Cecile put James's pills back into James's jacket.

JULY 2, 1981 (EP. #4317)
Rick had bad news for Cecile and Sandy about James. James told Russ and Linda that he hasn’t taken any pills in weeks. Brian called Louise looking for Sandy. Rick told Cecile and Sandy that James is being transferred to the psychiatric ward and detoxification program. Larry and Denny discussed Blaine’s trial. Blaine couldn’t remember how many gun shots were fired the night Jordan was shot when Jerry asked. Cecile laid a guilt trip on James, who asked to see Rachel. Mr. Black put Denny to work in buying an office building. Brian prepared Sandy to take the stand now that they have the client book. Cecile refused to let James see Rachel. Russ promised James that he would recover. Quinn told Denny that all Blackhawk Project employees are sworn to secrecy about its operations. Mac was shocked when Zachary forced Sandy to admit his past as an escort. Russ told Rachel that Cecile isolated James from visitors. Rick and Linda moved James to the detoxification center. Brian questioned Sandy about his association with Ilsa and his search for Jordan’s black book. Ada refused to let Rachel blame herself for James’s condition. Rick discovered a medicine bottle that matched the one in the photograph of Jordan’s body. Mac offered to let Cecile stay at the Cory estate while James recovers. Rick told Larry that the prescription in the photograph is an anticoagulant. Rick and Larry told Brian, Jerry, and Blaine they have something which may clear Blaine. Mac called Sandy his son when he arrived home from the trial.

JULY 6, 1981 (EP. #4318)
Rick told Brian he thinks the medicine bottle has something to do with Jordan’s death. Blaine worried to Clarice that her testimony will hurt a lot of people. Mac wanted to talk to Sandy. Mac was understanding when Sandy revealed his past. Brian told Rick that the information regarding the anticoagulant may convince the court to exhume Jordan’s body. Blaine told Clarice that Larry and Jerry may not be able to forgive her once her past comes out in court. Larry found another bullet after receiving approval from Capt. Petroni to search Jordan’s house again. Mac agreed to let Cecile and Sandy take on some of James’s job responsibilities. Brian assured the press all their questions will be answered once Blaine takes the stand. Cecile drugged some orange juice for James. Brian was puzzled by the second bullet that Larry found at Jordan’s house. Jerry promised to stick by Blaine regardless of what is revealed at the trial. Brian realized that there are a lot of unanswered questions about Jordan’s death. Cecile refused to let Rachel see James. Ilsa blackmailed Jason into helping her take care of Sandy. Blaine told Brian about her relationship with Jordan and fleeing from and returning to Bay City. Mac told Rachel to be patient with James. Blaine told Brian about the night Jordan was shot. Mitch was disappointed when Rachel went to Mac for comfort instead of him. Marianne consoled James, who had a nightmare. Jerry told Brian and Blaine that the court agreed to exhume Jordan’s body. Blaine worried about being cross-examined by Zachary.

JULY 7, 1981 (EP. #4319)
Mitch wanted Rachel to open up to him. Brian told the press he felt confident about Blaine’s case. Rachel told Mitch he can't comfort her about James. Joey asked Kit to dinner. Jerry walked out when Blaine revealed to Zachary she married Jerry to sell information to the syndicate. Sally agreed to marry Leigh. Jason agreed to let Melissa warn Sandy about Ilsa’s people coming for him. Zachary got Blaine to admit that she caused Hazel to shoot Larry out of revenge. Rick warned Kit that she may be dating Joey on the rebound from Jerry. Ilsa sent Hannah and Lenny to Bay City. Larry forgave Blaine, but wasn’t sure Jerry would too. Ada was against Leigh and Sally getting married. Melissa suggested that Sandy have Mac pay Ilsa off. Blaine recounted for Zachary how Jordan was shot. Denny offered to purchase Mitch's gallery building for the Blackhawk project. Sandy told Melissa that Jason’s name is in Ilsa’s client book. Blaine told Brian that she never considered killing Jordan. Ada told Rachel not to let her concerns for James ruin her relationship with Mitch. Jason admitted to Melissa that he and Ilsa rigged Tracy's fatal car explosion. Blaine tried to talk to Jerry. Rachel promised Mitch she’d forget her past with Mac and come to him for support. Jerry told Blaine he can never trust her again.

JULY 8, 1981 (EP. #4320)
Jerry proclaimed that he can never trust Blaine again. Mac complimented Sandy and Cecile's work on the upcoming issue of Brava. Mac and Sandy encouraged Cecile to stand by James. Zachary informed reporters that he is confident in the outcome of the trial and is focusing on the mayoral race. Sandy fretted to Mac that he has been treated differently by people ever since he testified about his past during Blaine's trial. Mac told Sandy that he is essential to Cory Publishing and vowed to defend him against all offenses. Sally happily informed Linda that she is majoring in journalism and is engaged to Leigh. Brian lambasted Jerry for acting unprofessionally in court and potentially jeopardizing Blaine's case. Jerry advised Brian that he is resigning from the firm. Cecile accused Marianne of neglecting James because his condition seems to be worse since he was admitted into the hospital. Blaine told Sandy that Jerry will never forgive her and that she doesn't care about whether she is acquitted. Dr. Barrows confirmed for Brian and Rick that traces of an anticoagulant were found in Jordan's body and posited that Jordan did not die from a gunshot. Joey and Kit sadly watched Jerry get drunk. Larry tried to quell Jerry's bitterness towards Blaine. Mitch received a bruised eye while breaking up a fist fight between Larry and Jerry. Cecile gained sympathy from Sally by theorizing that James may be institutionalized. Randy informed Mr. Bond that Mitch's job involves breaking up fights. Denny confided to Blaine that he made Leigh feel responsible for his marriage failing and that they are estranged. Russ helped Rick uncover the names of people who take the anticoagulant found in Jordan's body. Melissa called Clarice to pick up Jerry from The Connection. Alice was hurt upon learning about Leigh and Sally's engagement from Linda. Joey sensed that Kit still loves Jerry. Larry and Clarice pitied Jerry, who passed out on his couch. Zachary secretly reviewed entries in the client book that involved Jason.

Notes: Linda mentions that she is dating Bo Turner, who is a hockey player on the Bay City Blues.

JULY 9, 1981 (EP. #4321)
Rachel didn’t want to move out of Bay City when Mitch considered taking Denny up on his offer to buy the art gallery. Leigh left the apartment when Alice asked to speak to Sally alone. Rick asked to meet with Larry. Leigh assured Joey that he has considered marrying Sally very carefully. Mitch asked Philip for photography work. Rick showed Larry a list of six people who have the prescription found in the photo of Jordan’s body. Alice hoped Sally would change her mind about marrying Leigh. Denny asked Larry to investigate the Blackhawk Project. Brian couldn’t convince Jerry to remain at his firm. Jerry told Brian he’s thinking of rejoining the police force. Marianne read a letter from Pat suggesting she grieve for the loss of her child. Larry asked Capt. Petroni for a search warrant after showing him the list of people with a prescription for the anticoagulant. Rick told Marianne traces of drugs are still in James’s blood stream. Quinn gave Denny the keys to his new apartment at the Bayview Towers. Joey told Leigh that he and Kit are taking their relationship slowly. Marianne told Rachel she’ll let her know as soon as James asks to see her. Larry liked the idea of having Jerry back on the police force as his partner. Alice agreed to check on James’s condition for Mac. Sandy promised Rachel he won’t get in the way of James’s work or relationship with Mac. James asked Marianne to have Mac and Rachel visit him in the hospital. Larry found Jordan’s client book among someone’s possessions.

JULY 10, 1981 (EP. #4322)
Brian was telling Blaine that traces of an anticoagulant were found in Jordan’s body, when Larry walked in with Jordan’s client book. Mac told Sandy he has a way to stop people from talking about him. Marianne told Mitch that James wants to see Rachel. Ilsa called Jason to ensure his cooperation with Hannah and Lenny. Sandy refused to let Mac tell everyone about their father-son relationship. Larry and Brian hoped the client book would prove that Blaine didn’t cause Jordan’s death. Mitch told Rachel that James wants to see her at the hospital. Sandy and Melissa were turned away from L'Auberge. Brian asked Judge Maxwell for a fifteen-minute recess. James assured Mac and Rachel that he will recover completely. In court, Brian questioned Mitch about the medicine bottle found in the photograph of Jordan’s body. Cecile lied to Russ that James hit and raped her, and didn’t want any visitors at the hospital. James told Mac and Rachel that he’s seeing a psychiatrist. James asked to speak with Mac alone. Melissa worried to Sandy about the people Ilsa is sending to Bay City. Rick told Brian that the prescription in the medicine bottle was an anticoagulant, which can cause someone to bleed to death. James asked Mac for some time off from work. Cecile blamed Rachel for James’s condition. The coroner, Dr. Barrows, told Brian that Jordan may have lived had he been treated for his gunshot wound and not been given the anticoagulant. Rachel told Mac she no longer trusts Cecile. Brian questioned Larry about the second bullet found in Jordan’s house. Cecile cried on Sandy’s shoulder about James. Mitch was bothered by seeing Rachel with Mac. Brian called Zachary to the stand.

JULY 13, 1981 (EP. #4323)
Judge Maxwell agreed when Zachary called a meeting with Brian, who called Zachary to the stand. Mitch wondered if Rachel made a mistake by leaving Mac. Larry encouraged Blaine to trust Brian. Mitch tried to convince Rachel to sell the gallery building to Denny. Judge Maxwell permitted Brian to put Zachary on the stand as a witness for the defense. Jim advised Alice not to interfere in Sally’s life. Denny was puzzled by Mr. Black and Quinn’s urgency to get Mitch to sell the art gallery. Philip and Mitch discussed the Connection. Ada told Clarice she has the feeling that Leigh is hesitant to marry Sally. The court swore Zachary in as a witness. Cecile told Sandy that Russ thinks James may be having a nervous breakdown. Denny told Clarice he’s moving to the Bayview Towers. Denny decided to talk to Leigh about his engagement to Sally. Brian questioned Zachary about gambling at the Arena. Cecile assured Sandy that she wants to make her marriage to James work. Sally walked in as Leigh ordered Denny out of his life. Zachary admitted to taking the same anticoagulant that was found in the photograph of Jordan’s body. Leigh and Sally decided to go through with their engagement despite opposition. Zachary said he arrived at the scene of the crime after the police did. Sandy told Mac that Cecile seemed frightened by James's eventual homecoming. Judge Maxwell agreed to let Brian retain Zachary as a witness for a later time.

JULY 14, 1981 (EP. #4324)
Cecile told Mac she wonders if James still loves her. Lenny told Ilsa that Sandy is living with Mac and has a bodyguard. Ilsa ordered Lenny and Hannah to kill Sandy. Brian encouraged Blaine to have faith in him regarding the trial. Cecile told Mac that James abused her while under the influence of pills and that James loves Marianne. Mac asked Cecile to love and support James. Brian and Larry asked Capt. Petroni to put Zachary under surveillance. Russ was hesitant to release James from the hospital and recommended he continue seeing a psychiatrist. Blaine resolved not to hurt anyone ever again. Zachary tried to convince Judge Maxwell that Brian is using Blaine’s trial for political aspirations. Russ told Rick he plans to keep a close watch on James. Larry urged Jerry to talk to Blaine. Sandy warned Melissa to be careful with Jason. Melissa was vague with Ilsa about her association with Sandy while in Bay City. Jason promised Ilsa he’d cooperate with Lenny and Hannah. Russ told Mac that something still may be wrong with James, who continued to deny taking pills. Russ gave Alice his blessing to see Mac. Blaine overheard Denny discourage Jerry from rejoining the police force. Sandy suggested Mac talk to James. Mac hoped Sandy would reveal their father-son relationship to other people soon. Melissa tried to convince Sandy to pay Ilsa off. Louise seemed doubtful when Mac mentioned Cecile may be exactly what James needs. Larry laid into Denny for discouraging Jerry. Philip refused to write an article on Zachary’s opinion of Blaine’s trial. James was angry when he found an empty pill bottle in his suite.

JULY 15, 1981 (EP. #4325)
Joey informed Brian that he was asked to rig a game for Zachary while at the Arena. Cecile pretended to be scared when Sandy told her James has been released from the hospital. James told Mac that he thinks someone slipped pills into his drinks, but couldn’t figure out the reason. Cecile told Sandy that Liz received a call from a woman asking what hours he works at the Complex. Joey admitted he never witnessed a game being rigged for Zachary. James refused Mac’s help. Sandy asked Jerry to make a go of his relationship with Kit. Mitch was rejected for a loan on some photography equipment. Joey was jealous to see Jerry and Kit talking. Kit said she wasn’t sure when Joey asked if she still loves Jerry. Mac told Rachel that he’s worried about James. Mitch was upset over seeing Mac and Rachel talking at the gallery. Cecile assured Philip that she loves James. Cecile asked Philip to let James write another article for the Ledger. Russ described how he treated Zachary for his medical condition. Russ told Zachary that only six people have the anticoagulant, but admitted it could’ve been prescribed outside of Bay City. Judge Maxwell agreed when Zachary requested a private recess with him and Brian. Sandy told James that Cecile is scared of him. James told Sandy that someone may have given him the pills which caused his collapse. Judge Maxwell allowed Brian one more day to present his case before the trial concludes. Rachel reassured Mitch of her love for him. Mitch agreed with James’s suspicions that someone has been drugging him. Brian asked Larry to obtain a search warrant of Zachary’s apartment in hopes of finding more evidence.

JULY 16, 1981 (EP. #4326)
Sandy told Cecile that James thinks someone drugged him at the party. Joey told Rick he isn’t sure how Kit feels about Jerry. Rachel wanted to talk to James about Cecile. Ilsa ordered Lenny and Hannah to find, but not kill Sandy. Melissa and Randy overheard Jess tell Jason to buy the Connection’s liquor through the syndicate to raise profits. Cecile acted surprised when Sandy told her of James’s suspicions of being drugged at the party. Rachel told James that Mitch suspects Cecile was the person who drugged him. Jason lied to Mitch about why Jess was at the Connection. Joey admitted his feelings for Kit to Rick. Rachel witnessed Cecile kissing Sandy out of gratitude for his help and support. Rick wanted to give Marianne a romantic evening. Lenny and Hannah spied on Sandy. Rachel blamed Sandy and Cecile for James’s near overdose. Cecile welcomed James home with kisses. Mitch told Melissa he doesn’t want to compete with Mac for Rachel’s affections. Randy called Mr. Bond about seeing Jess at the Connection. Cecile suggested Rick was the one who slipped pills into James’s drinks out of jealousy. Cecile became intimate with James while thinking about Sandy. Marianne admitted to being afraid of making love to Rick because of the loss of their child. Melissa urged Sandy to call and make a deal with Ilsa. James told Cecile he loves her. Rachel informed Mitch she doesn’t know what more she can do to prove her love for him.

JULY 17, 1981 (EP. #4327)
Brian planned to recall Larry as a witness and then stall for time while Larry went to search Zachary’s apartment. Mr. Bond told Mac that the syndicate still has a presence at the Connection, which will help him in the custody case. Mac called Rachel wanting to speak with her. In court, Zachary objected to Brian’s contention that he withheld evidence during the trial. Mac suggested Rachel talk to Mitch about working at the Connection when Rachel refused to compromise on Amanda’s custody. Larry informed Brian that he found Jordan’s black book in Zachary’s apartment. Sandy called Ilsa. Joey told Kit that he loves her. Ilsa made a cryptic call to Hannah after Sandy offered to pay Ilsa off with $100,000. Rick was shocked when James asked if he was the person who drugged him. Sandy wondered to Melissa how he’s going to come up with the money to buy off Ilsa. Larry found a tape under Zachary’s table. Russ told Mac that James may need to be institutionalized. Cecile overheard Melissa tell James that Sandy needs money to buy his way out of trouble. Larry told Brian he found a recording of a conversation between Zachary and Jordan, where Jordan blackmailed Zachary with his gambling markers. Cecile convinced Mac to provide Sandy with the $100,000 he needs. Blaine was acquitted when Zachary admitted to injecting Jordan with the anticoagulant that killed him. Zachary was escorted out of court by the bailiff. Brian told Larry and Blaine that Zachary has to go through psychological exams to see if he's fit to stand trial.

Note: Episode includes a “new” flashback featuring J Kenneth Campbell as Jordan Scott. Last appearance of Curt Dawson as Zachary Colton.

JULY 20, 1981 (EP. #4328)
Larry and Brian interrupted Blaine remembering Zachary’s admittance of guilt. James offered to help Sandy find the money he needs. Rachel decided to see Brian after telling Mitch of her last conversation with Mac. Larry tried to reassure a guilt-ridden Blaine that she’s a good person who never meant to hurt anyone. Brian predicted that Blaine may have to testify against the syndicate. Sandy wasn’t optimistic about his chances of being free from Ilsa. Hannah and Lenny forced Jason to get floor plans of the Cory Mansion and details of its security system. Brian convinced Rachel to postpone the custody hearing in order to investigate the mob. Jason worried about Ilsa using Tracy's death to blackmail him. Melissa revealed their father-son relationship when Jason was puzzled by Mac’s interest in Sandy. Cecile confided in Sally about her concerns for James’s mental health. Jason pumped Mitch for information on the layout and security of the Cory estate. In front of Sally, James and Cecile argued over the bottle of pills that Cecile planted in their suite. Sandy refused when Melissa urged him to buy off Ilsa. Alice decided to talk to Russ after hearing about James and Cecile's argument from Sally. Jason leveled with Mitch about the syndicate’s involvement in the Connection when Randy and Mitch discovered a box of illegal liquor. Alice and Sally resolved their differences. Rick told Marianne he’s tired of living in James’s shadow. Marianne was reluctant to be intimate with Rick again. Mac suggested they go to the police for protection when Sandy refused Mac's money. Rachel was disappointed when Mitch decided not to come home to the gallery for the night.

JULY 21, 1981 (EP. #4329)
Mitch quit the Connection after punching Jason for lying to him about its involvement in the syndicate. Cecile apologized to James for their argument, but denied planting the pills. Mac asked Larry about protecting Sandy. Larry recommended putting Sandy into police custody after Sandy provided details about Ilsa and her henchmen. Cecile made James promise not to return to work until he’s better. Jason told Mitch he’s cooperating with the syndicate since Ilsa is blackmailing him and threatening to return Melissa to Las Vegas. Blaine informed Larry that she’s moving into the mansion she shared with Jordan to get over the memories and come to terms with what happened. Melissa called Sandy on his penchant for sacrificing himself for everyone else. Sandy resolved not to let Mac get hurt because of him. Russ told Dr. Doris Wagner he has doubts about James’s improvement. Philip told Brian that the syndicate is involved with the Connection. Dr. Wagner suggested James check into a psychiatric hospital. Melissa admitted to Blaine that Sandy is in trouble because of the information that came out during the trial. Mac decided to talk to Russ after Alice told him about James and Cecile’s last argument. Brian told Rachel that Mitch working at the Connection will affect Amanda’s custody. Blaine worried about testifying against the syndicate and having new charges brought against her. Ilsa called Jason to ensure his cooperation. Russ asked for Mac’s help with convincing James to commit himself. Mitch decided to tell Brian that he quit the Connection. Mitch comforted an upset Rachel. James and Sandy decided to switch identities to avoid their adversaries.

JULY 22, 1981 (EP. #4330)
Melissa was skeptical when James and Sandy revealed their plan to switch identities. Ilsa instructed Hannah to get the $100,000, kill Sandy, and get rid of Mac if necessary. At the mansion, Blaine had another flashback of shooting Jordan. Melissa agreed to check out Ilsa’s people and be James and Sandy’s contact. Marianne admitted to Olivia that she’s afraid of having another miscarriage. Blaine remembered sleeping with Jordan. Kit told Jerry she needed time to think, but agreed to speak with him later. Mitch asked to meet with Denny at the art gallery. Blaine made a phone call after recalling James offering his support to her. Kit and Joey decided to have lunch together. James borrowed Jerry’s answering machine and lied that he’s checking into a psychiatric hospital. Jason gave Lenny information about the Cory estate’s floor plan and security system. After Mitch agreed to sell the apartment, Denny told Mitch his boss plans to use the apartment's roof as a heliport. Rick told Joey he thinks something is wrong with Marianne. Louise put Amanda down for a nap while James told Mac he’s committing himself. Joey recommended that Rick give Marianne some space. Denny told Larry that he’s moving into an apartment at the Bayview Towers. Denny apologized to Larry for discouraging Jerry from joining the police force. Kit confided in Marianne about her feelings towards Joey and breakup with Jerry. Sandy told Mac it would be better for everyone’s safety if he leaves town. James and Blaine looked back on the good ole days. Sandy told Mac he is going to stay with his half-sister in Indiana for awhile. Blaine and James kissed after she thanked him for visiting her.

JULY 23, 1981 (EP. #4331)
Mitch told Brian he didn’t know the syndicate was involved in the Connection. James wanted to know Cecile’s reaction to him leaving for the psychiatric hospital. Larry told Blaine that Brian wants to see her. Cecile thought James was doing the right thing by committing himself. Brian promised Rachel and Mitch he will do everything possible to help Rachel win custody of Amanda. Sally encouraged Leigh to make amends with Denny. Brian told Blaine and Larry that the new DA isn’t bringing charges against Blaine, provided she gives information about the Arena and the escort service. Sally invited Denny over for dinner. Rachel reluctantly accepted James’s decision to enter the psychiatric hospital. Sally convinced Leigh to make an effort with Denny. Blaine was against it when Larry suggested talking to Jerry. Rachel told Mitch she blames Mac for James’s decision to commit himself. Sally left Leigh and Denny to talk alone. Blaine had a nightmare that Jordan was alive and visited her at the mansion. Leigh refused when Denny offered to find him a job at the Blackhawk project. Blaine told Melissa that, in order for the charges to be dropped against her, she has to implicate Melissa and Jason in the syndicate’s illegal activities. James and Sandy finalized their plan to switch identities. Melissa told Blaine that Sandy has left town. Rachel accused Mac of convincing James to commit himself to allow Sandy to take over his position at Cory Publishing. Sandy checked himself into the psychiatric hospital as James. Rachel thought Mac blind when Mac told her Cecile would be taking over James and Sandy’s job responsibilities while they’re away. James and Sandy said their goodbyes.

Note: Special appearance by J Kenneth Campbell as Jordan Scott.

JULY 24, 1981 (EP. #4332)
Cecile told Mac that James getting help will be to everyone’s advantage. Sandy recalled he and James planning to switch identities. Lenny and Hannah were nearly caught snooping around the Cory estate grounds by Louise and Amanda. Cecile was thrilled when Mac left her in charge of Brava while James and Sandy are away. Lenny and Hannah decided to talk to Jason after finding Sandy missing from the Cory estate. Rachel laid into Russ for recommending that James commit himself into the psychiatric hospital. Cecile called Sally to tell her she’s going to visit James at the hospital. Melissa overheard Lenny and Hannah question Jason about Sandy’s whereabouts. Larry convinced Jerry to leave his loft to settle some personal matters. Lenny called Ilsa to let her know they are checking on Mac’s other properties for Sandy. Jason tried to reassure Melissa that Lenny and Hannah won’t find Sandy. Larry left Blaine and Jerry alone to talk. Cecile fumed when she was unable to visit James at the hospital. Melissa left a message for James warning him that Lenny and Hannah are searching all of Mac’s properties for Sandy. Jerry told Blaine he can never love or trust her again. Alice assured Mac that James will get better. Lenny and Hannah stopped James from leaving the Cory cabin. Rachel told Mitch she feels like everyone she loves is slipping away from her. Sandy was informed about Cecile’s visit. Hannah told James he’s being kept alive until Ilsa gets the $100,000. Rachel and Mitch became intimate. Hannah knocked James out when he tried to escape.

JULY 27, 1981 (EP. #4333)
Hannah knocked James out when he tried to escape. Lenny had doubts about James being Sandy. A nurse told Sandy that Dr. Feldman wants to see him. Blaine told Larry that it’s over between her and Jerry. Blaine planned to fight the nightmares about Jordan she’s been having. Sandy told Dr. Feldman he checked into the psychiatric hospital to get his life together. Melissa worried to Jason about Hannah and Lenny not returning to the Connection. Sandy’s bodyguard told Mac he followed Sandy out of town but lost track of him. Dr. Feldman questioned Sandy about the night leading up to his collapse from drugs. Melissa called the Cory cabin asking for James to call her back. Jerry offered to help Larry investigate the Blackhawk project. Joey invited Kit over to his apartment for dinner. Hannah told Lenny that Ilsa wants them to keep James alive and get the $100,000 from Mac. Joey cut Leigh’s visit short to prepare dinner for Kit. Denny and Jerry made amends. Jerry was interested when Denny mentioned that all Blackhawk employees are sworn to secrecy. Dr. Feldman discussed Sandy’s case with Dr. Doris Wagner. Lenny left Hannah alone with James to have the ransom note delivered to Mac. Joey and Kit enjoyed spending time together. Jason told Melissa he thinks that Ilsa’s people have found Sandy. Kit and Joey kissed when Kit told Joey she never stopped loving him. James was skeptical when Hannah mentioned Ilsa only wants the $100,000 from Mac.

JULY 28, 1981 (EP. #4334)
Brian and Larry prepared Blaine for her meeting with the new DA. Liz delivered mail from the security guard to Mac. Hannah agreed to leave James alone for a while. Arthur Cunningham, the new DA, questioned Blaine about the Arena and Jess Cooper. Despite Ada’s warnings, Rachel felt confident about her chances at the custody hearing. Melissa left another message for James asking for a call back. A nurse allowed Sandy to make a phone call after giving him some medication. Blaine told Arthur Cunningham about the escort service. Mac was puzzled by the ransom note Liz gave him. Curtis Eldon asked Denny to compile dossiers on Rick, Taylor, Alice, James, and Mac and to halt Larry and Jerry’s investigation of the Blackhawk project. Melissa told Blaine about James and Sandy switching identities. Cecile suggested Mac call Sandy’s half-sister to verify Sandy’s whereabouts. A nurse worried she gave Sandy someone else’s medication. Sandy asked James to visit him at the hospital after becoming ill. Sandy’s half-sister gave Mac a phone number where Sandy can be reached. Quinn told Denny that Mr. Black expects complete loyalty from his employees. Sandy demanded to see James after breaking a mirror. Jason tried to comfort Melissa, who worried about Sandy. Brian suggested to Rachel that they have James testify about her being a good mother. Hannah and Jack, another of Ilsa’s thugs, overheard Mac leave a message for Sandy. Mac and Cecile decided to go to the Cory estate to wait for word on Sandy. James asked Jack what he plans to do with the ransom money.

Note: First appearance of William Bogart as Curtis Eldon.

JULY 29, 1981 (EP. #4335)
Rachel demanded to see James at the hospital. Mac refused to pay the ransom money until he’s given proof that Sandy is still alive. Blaine tried to convince Jason to level with the new DA. Dr. Feldman agreed to tell James that Rachel wants him to testify at Amanda’s custody hearing. Hannah and Jack took a picture of James to give to Mac. Mac asked Mr. Warren to withdraw $100,000 from his account. Jess called Jason requesting to meet with him. Hannah asked James about his job as an escort for Ilsa. James tried to escape after nearly letting Hannah seduce him. Jess promoted Jason to sole owner of the Connection and the Sporting Life and told him not to speak with the new DA. A delusional Sandy nearly blew his and James’s cover with Dr. Feldman, who gave Sandy a sedative. Rachel told Ada she plans to surprise Mitch with a picnic because she feels confident about winning custody of Amanda. Jason poured on the charm after telling Melissa about his conversation with Jess. Dr. Feldman informed Dr. Doris Wagner he may request that James remain at the hospital for an extended period of time. Hannah and Jack held James at gunpoint. Rachel drove Mitch to the lake. Jack beat up James in front of Hannah. Rachel told Mitch she feels good about James, Amanda, and their relationship. Mac was surprised to find the picture of James among the mail Liz left for him. Jack had Hannah tie James up in the living room of the cabin.

JULY 30, 1981 (EP. #4336)
Sandy agreed when Dr. Feldman suggested he remain at the hospital for an extended period of time. Jack told Hannah that Sandy is going to be killed once the $100,000 is obtained. Mac told Rachel that James has been kidnapped. James didn’t think it a good idea when Jack unplugged the answering machine after Sandy called. Blaine told Melissa that the syndicate is removing its holdings from Bay City. Melissa received a call from the DA requesting to meet with her. Mac comforted Rachel, who accused Mac of bargaining James’s life for Sandy’s. Joey asked Kit on a date. Mitch decided to offer Mac his help when Rachel told him James has been kidnapped. Jerry paid off Kit’s loan and promised to pay her back for his medical bills. Rick overheard Kit reject Jerry for a date. Brian agreed to accompany Melissa during her meeting with the DA. Rachel blamed Ada for James’s kidnapping. Rick warned Kit not to let her money get in the way of a relationship with Joey. Liz told Cecile that Mac wants to see her at the Cory estate. Joey assured Kit that he loves her despite her wealth. Melissa told Arthur Cunningham about the escort service, but refused to answer any questions about Jason. Mac asked Mitch to comfort Rachel. Melissa denied it when Blaine asked if she and Jason are getting serious. Mac told Cecile about James’s kidnapping. Melissa tried to call James. Mac told Cecile he plans to do everything he can to make sure James is freed.

JULY 31, 1981 (EP. #4337)
Mitch tried to reassure Rachel that Mac is doing everything he can to rescue James. Lenny gave Mac three hours to get the $100,000. Hannah theorized to James that he may not necessarily be killed once the ransom money is obtained. Mitch suggested that Rachel go to the Cory estate to wait for updates on James. Melissa allowed Blaine to call Larry for advice on what to do about Sandy. Mr. Warren told Mac he was not able to obtain the $100,000 entirely in small denominations and old bills. Linda was nonplussed when Alice mentioned she’s going out to dinner with Mac. Louise refused to let Ada blame herself for James’s kidnapping and predicted that Mac and Rachel will become closer as a result of the hostage crisis. Cecile was wondering about Sandy’s whereabouts when Rachel arrived. Rachel accused Cecile of getting James out of the way to have a clear path to Sandy. Lenny told Hannah that he plans to kill both James and Mac. Cecile told Alice about James’s kidnapping. James tried to warn Mac against coming to the Cory cabin as Lenny was giving Mac instructions on where to deliver the ransom money. Alice tried to comfort Rachel while Cecile left the Cory estate after remembering that Sandy is supposed to be visiting his half-sister. James dreamt that he was shot by Hannah while Mac escaped. Hannah told James that Lenny left to meet with Mac. Larry planned to investigate Sandy’s whereabouts. Sandy was shocked when Cecile arrived at the psychiatric hospital to see him. Lenny brought Mac to the Cory cabin.

AUGUST 3, 1981 (EP. #4338)
Cecile told Sandy that James has been kidnapped. Rachel worried to Alice that James will be killed once the kidnappers get the ransom money. Mac refused to let Lenny impede him from checking on James. Sandy planned to see Dr. Feldman about getting released from the psychiatric hospital. Rachel did not let Alice call the police. Lenny was furious to discover that the ransom money was in new bills and large denominations. Dr. Feldman and a male nurse had to restrain a hysterical Sandy. Rachel told Larry that Sandy is visiting his half-sister and that James is in a psychiatric hospital. Mac tried to buy off Hannah and Lenny. Dr. Feldman suggested to Cecile that James remain at the psychiatric hospital for an extended period. Blaine tried to keep Melissa calm while they waited to get updates from Larry. After talking to Ilsa, who wants Sandy kept alive, Lenny agreed to bargain with Mac. Dr. Doris Wagner refused Cecile’s request to have James released. Melissa and Blaine discussed their doomed relationships with Sandy and Jerry. Mac convinced Hannah and Lenny to wait until morning for the additional $100,000. Cecile sneaked past the nurses’ station at the psychiatric hospital. Rachel asked Alice to leave her alone for a while. Cecile disguised herself as a nurse to get closer to Sandy. Melissa asked Larry to find Sandy. Mitch agreed to stay with Rachel at the Cory estate. Hannah overheard James tell Mac not to return to the Cory cabin once he’s been freed. Cecile tried to wake up Sandy so he could escape.

AUGUST 4, 1981 (EP. #4339)
Cecile managed to wake up Sandy and get him dressed. Larry told Melissa and Jason that Ilsa has been arrested. James was warning Mac not to return to the Cory cabin when Lenny demanded that Mac make a phone call. Sandy planned to escape alone and meet Cecile in the car later. Larry and Jason couldn’t assure Melissa that Sandy was out of danger now that Ilsa has been arrested. Rachel worried to Mitch about not hearing back from Mac. Rachel refused to let Ada blame herself for James’s kidnapping. Sandy asked Melissa to tell Larry that he’s fine and not to call the police. Lenny untied Mac so he could make a phone call while Hannah agreed to get James something to eat. Ada tried to comfort Rachel, who felt guilty over her mistreatment of Mac and James. A nurse noticed that Sandy signed himself out of the psychiatric hospital and made a phone call. Jason worried to Melissa about Ilsa implicating him for Tracy’s death. Russ told Rick about James escaping from the psychiatric hospital. Mac asked Mr. Warren for an additional $100,000. Sandy refused to let Cecile accompany him to the Cory cabin. Rick told Marianne he blames himself for James's escape from the hospital. Mitch agreed to let Rachel remain at the Cory estate by herself. Sandy reached James and untied him. Larry suspected that Melissa wasn’t telling him the whole story when she updated Larry on Sandy’s whereabouts. Cecile waited impatiently in the car for Sandy. Lenny ordered Mac to return with the money and not to call the police. Lenny caught Sandy and James trying to escape.

AUGUST 5, 1981 (EP. #4340)
Blaine was suspicious when Melissa didn’t seem happy about hearing from Sandy. Larry was surprised to hear from Liz that Mac wasn’t at the Complex. Sandy revealed himself to Lenny. Melissa told Blaine that James has been kidnapped and that Sandy doesn’t want the police involved. Larry decided to check on things when Liz said that Mac and Cecile are at the Cory estate. Hannah suggested Mac identify Sandy, who had nothing to verify his identity. Kit became upset over Marianne’s concern for James. Liz and Sally bickered because of overwork. Cecile remembered telling Sandy how important he’s become to her and James while waiting in the car. Joey told Kit that Marianne is only concerned for James as a friend. Russ was surprised when Alice wouldn’t let him call the police about James. Lenny demanded that Mac identify Sandy. Kit told Joey she loves him. Alice told Russ that James has been kidnapped. Mac refused to identify Sandy to Hannah and Lenny, who waited to hear from Ilsa. Joey and Rick decided to search for James. Leigh was surprised when Sally told him she hoped to get a permanent position at Cory Publishing. Cecile tried to call the Cory cabin. Alice offered to keep Rachel company. Hannah and Lenny attempted to contact Ilsa while Sandy assured James they will be free soon. Rachel hoped for James’s well-being. Hannah found Cecile and brought her to the Cory cabin.

AUGUST 6, 1981 (EP. #4341)
Cecile unknowingly identified Sandy to Hannah and Lenny. Rick told Russ he plans to do something about it if James doesn’t return by tomorrow. Larry was too distracted to hear Clarice’s ideas for their new apartment. Russ couldn’t discourage Rick from wanting to search for James. Clarice suggested Larry talk to James after Larry voiced his suspicions. Mac tried to bargain with Lenny for James’s life. Sandy told Hannah and Lenny that Ilsa has been arrested. Philip was interested when Leigh mentioned that Mac, Cecile, James, and Sandy aren’t at the Cory Complex. Blaine promised Melissa that she would not involve Larry in James’s kidnapping. Cecile checked on James while Hannah and Lenny agreed to bargain with Mac. Larry resolved to figure out what’s going on after talking with Jerry, who mentioned that James borrowed his answering machine. After being freed by Lenny, Mac vowed that James, Sandy, and Cecile would not be hurt. Melissa tried to assure Jerry that Sandy is fine. Rick was too concerned over James to answer Philip’s questions about the Jordan Scott murder. Alice told Rachel about her conversation with Russ. Melissa got agitated when Philip interrogated her about Sandy’s whereabouts. James had a coughing spell. Larry was surprised when Dr. Feldman described Sandy. Blaine encouraged Melissa to level with Larry about James and Sandy. Rachel and Alice argued about James. Alice gave Rachel a mild sedative. Hannah talked cryptically about James and Cecile being together for the last time if Mac doesn’t return to the Cory cabin.

Note: Melissa reveals Donna as the name of Sandy’s half-sister.

AUGUST 7, 1981 (EP. #4342)
Mac told Mitch there is no guarantee that James will be freed once Hannah and Lenny get the additional $100,000. Rachel dreamt that Mac and James had been killed. Sandy suggested Lenny take a look at an ailing James. Mac updated Mitch on the hostage situation with James, Cecile, and Sandy. Mac refused Mitch's suggestion to go to the police, but asked Mitch to support Rachel. Alice admitted to Rachel that she has feelings for Mac. Hannah tried to make James more comfortable. Marianne told Rick and Joey that James liked to get away sometimes at the Cory cabin. Melissa told Larry the truth about Sandy and James switching identities. Mac updated Rachel on Sandy, James, and Cecile. Rachel tried to stop Mac from leaving town with a gun. Marianne told Joey that she and Rick have to find a new place to live since Pat is returning from Europe in a few weeks. Rick and Joey decided to search for James at the Cory cabin. Cecile agreed to fix Lenny something to eat in exchange for checking on James. Larry told Rachel that he plans to rescue Sandy, James, and Cecile. Mac asked Mr. Warren not to contact the police after getting the additional $100,000. Larry contacted Mr. Warren looking for Mac. James collapsed from a high fever. Ada asked Mitch to be with Rachel. Larry allowed Philip to accompany him and the police to the Cory cabin. Cecile put a cold compress onto James’s forehead and tried to untie him when Mac arrived. Rick and Joey got lost looking for the cabin. Mitch agreed to be patient with Rachel. Ada said a prayer. Mac was shot by Lenny, who was shot by James.

AUGUST 10, 1981 (EP. #4343)
Mitch agreed to be patient with Rachel. Rachel told Mitch and Alice that she thinks Mac and James are going to be all right. Larry told Joey, Rick, and Philip to lay low while he called for backup after hearing a gun shot. Mac was shot by Lenny, who was shot by James. Philip told Joey and Rick about James‘s kidnapping. Lenny woke up and attacked James, then held Sandy and Cecile at gun point. Kit accused Marianne of letting James intrude in her and Rick’s lives. Alice was relieved to hear from Rachel that Larry and the police are now involved in the hostage situation. Louise brought Amanda to the Cory estate to see Rachel. Larry told Philip to stay out of the way. Lenny had Hannah tie up Cecile, Sandy, and James. Larry told Lenny and Hannah that the cabin is surrounded. Sandy convinced Lenny to send a doctor to the cabin. Philip had Leigh run an editorial for the morning paper about the hostage situation and to call Clarice about Larry being involved. Louise asked Alice to leave the Cory estate. Larry agreed to send Rick into the cabin. Kit, Marianne, and Alice were surprised to hear that Mac and James are being held hostage. Sheriff Billings and Larry clashed over how to handle the situation. Lenny forced Rick to treat his injury. Sandy tried to convince Lenny to let Rick see Mac. Ada decided to leave work early to be with Rachel. Leigh called Clarice as Philip requested. Lenny refused to let Rick treat Mac or James and gave Rick a list of demands to give to Larry. Mac began to wake. Rick told Larry, Joey, and Philip that Mac has been shot. Lenny asked Cecile how much it’s worth to her to have a doctor see Mac.

AUGUST 11, 1981 (EP. #4344)
Louise tried to comfort Rachel after they heard that Mac had been shot. Rick convinced Larry to let him re-enter the cabin. Lenny forced himself onto Cecile, who wanted to check on Mac. Mac began to wake. Ada told Rachel that Larry and the police have to move slowly in dealing with the kidnappers. Alice told Kit and Marianne about James and Sandy switching identities and that Russ knew that James escaped from the hospital. Hannah convinced Lenny to let a doctor come back to the cabin. Rick refused when Sheriff Billings wanted him to carry a gun to give to Sandy. Mitch decided to come over to the Cory estate after he didn’t have any additional information for Rachel. Ada and Louise tried to keep Rachel from driving up to Twin Forks. Lenny allowed Rick to treat Mac. Rick found Mac’s gun and slipped it into his medical bag. Hannah made Cecile get her something to drink. Sandy and James blamed themselves for Mac’s condition. Rick slipped Mac’s gun to James after treating him. Lenny gave Rick three hours to return with additional medical supplies. Philip and Joey wondered what would happen if Mac died. Kit and Marianne worried about Joey and Rick. Sandy comforted Cecile, who feared that Mac is dying. Rick updated Larry, Joey, and Philip on Mac’s condition. James gave Mac’s gun to Sandy. Rachel planned to go the cabin after talking to Mitch. Rick told Larry that he gave Mac’s gun to James. Lenny forced Cecile to rub his neck and shoulders. Sandy pulled a gun on Lenny and Hannah.

AUGUST 12, 1981 (EP. #4345)

Lenny refused James’s request to let Mac go to the hospital. Jason declared his love for Melissa, who worried about Sandy. Louise overheard Mitch tell Ada he’s tired of dealing with Rachel’s feelings for Mac. Rachel left the room after watching the news. Lenny allowed Sandy to give Mac blood. Mr. Black made a phone call after hearing about the hostage situation. Rachel tried to reassure Mitch of her love for him. Ada and Mitch couldn’t stop Rachel from driving to the Cory cabin. Sandy apologized to Mac for his past and revealed his fantasy childhood. Mitch didn’t want to talk about it when Jason warned him against Rachel. Lenny forced Rick to tie up Sandy, then ordered him out. Mitch remembered making love to Rachel outside. James convinced Hannah to check on Mac. Sandy warned Lenny that the police aren’t going to let him and Hannah out alive. Philip and the other reporters questioned Sheriff Billings on his plans. Denny received a call from Curtis Eldon requesting that he investigate the hostage situation. Lenny told Hannah he plans to take James, Sandy, and Cecile with them during their escape. Sheriff Billings told Larry that he’s bringing his men into the cabin in fifteen minutes. Philip couldn’t convince Rachel to go home. Rachel tried to stop the police from entering the cabin. Lenny and Hannah planned to have Cecile deliver a note to the police.

Note: Sandy reveals that his sister Donna married when he was eight years old and that his mother cleaned offices in Los Angeles for a living.

AUGUST 13, 1981 (EP. #4346)
Lenny and Hannah decided to let Cecile go, but warned her to have the police meet their demands or James, Sandy, and Mac will be killed. Lenny refused to let Sandy see Mac. Clarice assured Ada that everyone involved in the hostage situation will be home soon. Rachel suggested the Cory plane be used to meet the demands of the kidnappers. Rachel fumed when Cecile showed more concern for Mac and Sandy than James. Quinn told Denny that Curtis wishes to make a Blackhawk plane available to the police. Philip comforted Cecile, who gave a statement to the reporters. Denny asked Quinn about the Blackhawk plane and was surprised when Quinn knew about his appointment with Jerry. Larry told Rachel that the Cory plane isn’t going to make it in time. Denny asked Jerry to tell Larry that the Blackhawk plane is available to the police. Rachel accused Cecile of being dramatic for the press and vowed to expose her. After receiving a call from Jerry, Larry told Lenny and Hannah that all of their demands have been met. Alice admitted to Russ that Mac has come to mean a great deal to her. Rachel became upset when the reporters questioned her about Mac’s condition. Jerry agreed when Clarice suggested he see a doctor about the bad headaches he’s been having. James asked Sandy to look after Mac and Cecile for him. Larry punched Sheriff Billings, who wanted to bring his men into the cabin. Sandy nearly revealed his father-son relationship with Mac to James. Lenny and Hannah accompanied Sandy and James at gunpoint out of the cabin.

AUGUST 14, 1981 (EP. #4347)
Rick and Joey planned to retrieve Mac while Larry and the police waited for the kidnappers to leave the cabin. Lenny and Hannah accompanied Sandy and James out of the cabin, but took Sheriff Billing’s car instead of the marked one provided by the police. Rick asked Joey to go home and allowed Rachel to ride in the ambulance, where Mac was moved. Philip asked Leigh to get some background on the Blackhawk Project. Louise predicted to Alice that Mac and Rachel will reconcile once the hostage situation is over. Cecile blabbed to Mac that Sandy and James are still in danger. Sheriff Billings informed Larry that he has men stationed at the air field ready to shoot the kidnappers upon their arrival. Lenny complimented Sandy’s intuition when Sandy suspected he and James would be killed once they arrive at the airfield. Leigh told Clarice that Larry was a hero in handling the hostage situation. Leigh was surprised when Denny admitted to knowing very little about the Blackhawk Project. Lenny forced Sandy to find the car keys he threw out the window. Rachel agreed when Rick suggested transferring Mac to Bay City General Hospital. Larry called Captain Petroni asking for advice on how to handle Sheriff Billings. Lenny interrupted James daring Hannah to shoot him. Joey updated Kit and Marianne on Mac’s condition and mentioned that James is still being held captive. Russ called Alice after Rick told him that Mac is being transferred to Bay City. Lenny and Hannah were relieved when the plane arrived at the airfield. Captain Petroni ordered Sheriff Billings to call off his men. Lenny and Hannah forced Sandy and James to walk towards the air field. Rick tried to revive Mac, who went into cardiac arrest. Lenny, Hannah, Sandy, and James fell when gun shots were fired.

AUGUST 17, 1981 (EP. #4348)
Sandy checked on James, who was briefly knocked unconscious by the fall. Rick was able to revive Mac, who went into cardiac arrest. Marianne tried to reassure Alice that Mac will get the treatment he needs. Russ told Alice and Marianne that Mac went into cardiac arrest while in the ambulance. Sandy told James he shoved him out of the way when the gunshots were fired. Sheriff Billings and Larry realized that Lenny was dead and Hannah severely wounded. James asked Philip about Mac’s condition. Rick, Marianne, and Alice tended to Mac while Russ asked Rachel to wait outside. Clarice, Denny, Leigh, and Sally were relieved to hear that Larry is fine and the hostage situation is over. Philip and Cecile told James that Mac has been transferred to Bay City General Hospital. Russ told Rachel that time is required so that Mac is strong enough for surgery. Jason tried to comfort Melissa, who worried that Sandy had been killed. Sheriff Billings complimented Larry’s work in handling the hostage situation. Captain Petroni ordered Larry to go home to Clarice. Alice agreed to find out about James’s whereabouts for Rachel. Mitch refused when Jason suggested he call the police station to get in contact with Rachel. Rachel admitted to Ada that she loves both Mac and Mitch. Marianne took James to see a doctor. Denny received a call from Curtis, who complimented Denny’s work on getting the Blackhawk plane to North fork. Rachel was far from impressed when Cecile mentioned that Sandy saved James’s life. Sandy offered to talk to James for Cecile, who feared she’s lost James. Sandy noticed Marianne and James embracing. Mitch agreed to come to the hospital to be with Rachel. Cecile seemed jealous when Melissa hugged Sandy. Larry and Clarice had a happy reunion. James told Rachel that it was Cecile who figured out that he and Sandy had switched identities. Cecile refused to let Sandy blame himself for Mac and James’s conditions. Russ told Rachel, James, and Mitch that Mac may die from surgery.

AUGUST 18, 1981 (EP. #4349)
Sandy and Cecile assured James that Mac is getting the care he needs. Russ requested to speak with Rachel and James. Larry told Clarice he’d feel better about the end of the hostage situation if Mac doesn’t die. Ada suggested Mitch return to the hospital to be with Rachel. Clarice thought it a good idea when Larry wanted to help Jerry get back on his feet. Russ told Rachel and James that Mac isn’t improving and is asking for his son. Mitch declared his love after Rachel defended her reasons for being concerned about Mac’s condition. Larry asked Captain Petroni if Jerry could rejoin the police force. While Linda worked in the other room, James reminisced about how Mac helped him get over his fear of drowning. Larry urged Jerry to rejoin the police force as his partner. James thanked Mitch for supporting Rachel, who went to see Mac. James agreed to let Sandy take Cecile to the Cory estate. Rachel promised to take care of Amanda for Mac in case he dies. Clarice offered to talk to Jerry, who Larry thinks is destroying himself. Marianne gave James a room to sleep in. Clarice urged Blaine to talk frankly with Jerry. Curtis Eldon asked Denny to investigate the dock project to determine the extent of Mac’s holdings and to redecorate the penthouse for Mr. Black’s arrival. Sandy updated Louise on Mac and James’s conditions. Cecile and Sandy kissed after Cecile filled Sandy‘s ear with doubts about James‘s love for her. Philip tried to question Denny about the Blackhawk Project, but was cut off by Quinn. James told Marianne that Mac took a bullet meant for him. Russ suggested that Rachel visit with Mac, whose condition is deteriorating. Rick informed James and Marianne that Mac has slipped into unconsciousness.

AUGUST 19, 1981 (EP. #4350)
Rick told Sandy that Marianne managed to get James to fall asleep and that Mac‘s health is deteriorating. James asked Sandy about Mac’s condition. Mac called for Rachel, who stood by his bedside. Rachel agreed when Mac requested that Amanda visit him at the hospital. Sandy asked James what he wants to do with his life once Mac recovers. James told Sandy he plans to give his marriage to Cecile another chance. Alice convinced Rachel to leave Mac alone to rest. Mac asked Alice to summon Brian to discuss a personal matter. Brian and Pat discussed James’s kidnapping and Mac’s condition. Pat and Brian kissed after admitting they missed each other. Blaine worried about Jerry to Larry, who encouraged her to move on with her own life. Alice asked Pat to keep business matters away from Mac. Mac requested that Brian change his will to provide Rachel with the Cory mansion to raise Amanda and his personal estate be divided between James, Amanda, and Sandy. Philip was puzzled when Leigh had very little background information on the Blackhawk Project for him. Linda told Russ about a strange phone call she received from someone asking about James’s condition. Russ reluctantly allowed Rachel to bring Amanda to the hospital. Blaine suggested Brian talk to Jerry. Blaine told Brian she’s thinking of selling the house she shared with Jordan. Rachel brought Amanda to see Mac. Brian comforted Jerry. Linda brought Russ into the hospital room when Alice noticed that Mac’s blood pressure dropped. Rachel and James gave Russ their consent to perform surgery on Mac.

Note: Linda gives James’s full name as James Steven Frame.

AUGUST 20, 1981 (EP. #4351)
Linda escorted an upset Rachel out of the hospital room while Alice and Russ waited for the cardiologist to arrive for Mac. James didn’t grasp Sandy’s own concerns for Mac, who James kept referring to as his father. Marianne told James and Sandy that Mac has been moved to the operating room. Cecile told Sally she fears James and doesn’t know what to do about it. Alice informed Mac that he’s going to be all right as he was being moved out of the hospital room for surgery. Rachel refused Mitch’s suggestion that they go somewhere and get something to eat. Joey noticed Marianne holding James’s hand while she kept him company. An argument ensued when Leigh called Cecile a phony and demanded that Sally stay out of James and Cecile’s problems. Rick was surprised by Joey’s suggestion that he make sure to take care of Marianne. James didn’t appreciate Mitch’s concern for him and Rachel. Sandy brought James some coffee and took him to the cafeteria. Mitch decided to leave Rachel alone at the hospital to go over to Ada’s house. Joey urged Leigh to work things out with Sally. Marianne told Pat that her marriage to Rick has been difficult since they lost the baby. Alice admitted to Rachel and Ada that Mac’s surgery is dangerous and difficult. James fretted that he’ll never want to return to the Cory cabin again. Linda interrupted Sandy and James’s talk about their childhood hideouts to tell James that Russ would like to see him in the Emergency Room. Rick sarcastically suggested Marianne pretend he’s James when Marianne didn’t want to make love. Ada reminded Rachel that she gave up all claims to him when Rachel griped that Alice is getting involved with Mac. Russ told Ada and Rachel that Mac is out of surgery. Rick left Marianne to sleep alone after they argued over his comment about James. Russ told Rachel, Ada, James, and Sandy that the next few hours will determine whether Mac lives or dies.

AUGUST 21, 1981 (EP. #4352)
Ada looked at Sandy with pity when Russ only wanted immediate family to visit Mac, who regained consciousness. Mitch told Ada that he and Rachel need to leave Bay City in order to make their relationship work. Marianne admitted to keeping James company at the hospital and once having feelings for him, but maintained to Rick she loves him and never slept with James. Alice was day dreaming about dancing and kissing Mac, when Rachel arrived at the hospital room for a visit. While suffering from a headache, Jerry told Larry that he has rejoined the police force as his partner. Rachel agreed when Mac wanted to put James in charge of Cory Publishing while he convalesces. Mac told Rachel that they both need to move on with their lives. Sandy refused Ada’s suggestion that she talk to Russ about letting Sandy visit Mac. Sandy told Ada he blames himself for Mac’s condition and decided to give up being Mac’s son. Mac asked James to run Cory Publishing. Linda interrupted James’s visit, just as Mac was about to tell James that Sandy is his brother. Marianne told Pat that there are times when she thinks she loves both Rick and James. Sandy decided not to accompany James to the hospital cafeteria in order to meet Melissa. Leigh and Sally made amends. James asked Pat to work with Cecile as Managing Editor of Brava. Sandy told Melissa that he is leaving Bay City. Rachel thanked Marianne for being helpful with James and Mac. It was an awkward moment when Rick told James and Rachel that Mac wants to see them. Cecile vowed to take the position of Managing Editor of Brava from Pat. Sandy confessed everything that has happened to him and admitted to having feelings for Cecile in Church. James went to look for Sandy per Mac’s request. Sandy hitched a ride out of Bay City.

AUGUST 24, 1981 (EP. #4353)
Rachel was nervous about James’s reaction when Mac planned to tell James that Sandy is his brother. James called Louise looking for Sandy. Rick told Russ he doesn’t want to be second best for Marianne. Mitch told Jason that he and Rachel need to leave Bay City in order for their relationship to survive. James assured Mac that he will bring Sandy back to the hospital once he's found him. Pat and Russ discussed Rick and Marianne’s marriage. Alice told Mac that he is as good a father to James as Steve Frame would have been. Rick said hello to Linda, then thought Marianne was avoiding talking to him when she understood he was too busy with work. James visited with Amanda while wondering about Sandy’s whereabouts. Alice asked Marianne if she wants to be with James or make her marriage to Rick work. Rachel asked Louise to pack some of Amanda’s things, since Mac has asked Rachel to take care of Amanda while he convalesces at the hospital. James told Rachel that he wants to make his marriage to Cecile work. Jerry refused Clarice’s invitation to have dinner with her and Larry because of a headache. Ada suggested Rachel convince Mitch that she loves him. James and Cecile argued over James’s decision to appoint Pat as Managing Editor of Brava. Cecile refused to go home with James. Marianne admitted her romantic interlude with James the night before her wedding day and her feelings for James to Rick. Jerry told Brian that he has rejoined the police force as Larry’s partner. Mitch and Rachel became intimate after Rachel agreed to leave Bay City. Louise put a blanket over a sleeping James. Sandy rode a bus out of town.

AUGUST 25, 1981 (EP. #4354)
Rachel told Brian that Mac and James are recovering and that she enjoys having Amanda. Brian advised Rachel that Mac wishes to postpone the custody hearing. Mitch told Philip that he and Rachel must leave town to make a fresh start. Cecile anxiously told James that Sandy has disappeared. Sandy woke up on a bus. Brian warned Rachel that Mac's attorney has gathered damaging evidence that could make her pursuit of Amanda's custody difficult. Philip informed Mitch that the syndicate sold most of its holdings. Mitch was grateful that Philip hired him to take photographs of the dock site and offered to check on a job as a staff photographer at a small college in San Francisco. James chided Liz for fussing over him. Cecile claimed to Sally that Pat coerced James into replacing her as the publisher of Brava. Pat urged Alice not to rush into a serious romance with Mac. Alice told Pat that James has caused discord in Rick and Marianne's marriage, despite Marianne's efforts to fight her feelings for James. Larry and Clarice discussed Jerry assuming police duties and decided to throw a barbecue party. Joey confided to Kit that he dislikes seeing James and Marianne together for Rick's sake. Kit credited Marianne for admitting that she was equally worried about Rick and James during the crisis at the cabin. James facilitated a staff meeting. Philip was pleased that James is the publisher of the Ledger again. James informed Cecile that he made her the editor of Brava so that they can spend time improving their marriage. Alice was disturbed by Sally's defense of Cecile and belief that Pat is manipulating James. Rachel was thrilled by Mitch's job prospect in San Francisco. Clarice hoped that Mitch and Rachel will be happy in California. Melissa implied to James that Sandy may not want to be found. Alice voiced suspicions to Pat that Cecile is using Sally. Mac frantically implored James to find Sandy.

AUGUST 26, 1981 (EP. #4355)
Rachel asked Mitch to the park with Amanda and Matthew. Quinn assured Denny that Mr. Black isn’t involved in anything illegal when Denny asked about the dossiers he compiled for him. Quinn gave Denny instructions on redecorating the penthouse for Mr. Black. Alice had to calm down Mac, who heard from James that Sandy has left town. Kit couldn’t convince Rick that he could make Marianne love him. Quinn suggested Denny interview Frankie Cavallo for a contracting job on Mr. Black’s penthouse and heliport. James informed Alice that he’ll help solve Rick and Marianne’s marital problems. Mac told Alice it’s possible that James’s feelings for Marianne are the source of all of James’s problems. Melissa accused Cecile of chasing Sandy and neglecting James. Mitch took pictures during his time with Rachel, Matthew, and Amanda at the park. James told Rick about his romantic interlude with Marianne, but assured Rick that they never slept together. Melissa told Jason that she’s concerned for Sandy and feels competitive with Cecile for Sandy’s affections. Denny hired Frankie. Mac discussed an editorial on drug rehabilitation with Philip. James told Rachel that he is trying to make his marriage to Cecile work. Rachel told James and Cecile that bringing Sandy back may not be a good idea in the long run. Mitch warned Rachel that James may become angry once he finds out that Sandy is Mac’s son. Rachel was surprised by all the activity going on in Mitch’s photographs of the dock site. Rick and Marianne celebrated their three-month anniversary. James and Cecile made love. Mitch dropped one of his rolls of film on the floor. James told Cecile that he doesn’t understand why Mac keeps insisting on finding Sandy.

AUGUST 27, 1981 (EP. #4356)
Mac told Alice that, with the Complex functioning well without him, he needs a new challenge in his life. Cecile asked Sally to drive her to the cabin. James pressed Rachel about the comment she made regarding not having enough information to put his life back together. James was angry when Rachel revealed that Sandy is Mac’s son. Mac told Alice he would like to open a drug rehabilitation clinic in Bay City. Ada told Rachel she wishes it had been Mac who told James about Sandy and Mac’s true relationship. Cecile had Sally leave her alone so she could grab a file containing Sandy’s birth certificate. Curtis Eldon asked Denny to find out who was taking pictures of the dock site. Kit assured Marianne that she loves Joey and they have worked out their past relationship problems. Brian gave Liz a confidential file containing Mac’s amended will, which Cecile learned about. Cecile lied to James about not knowing that Sandy is Mac’s son. Cecile asked James if Mac’s will replaces James as Mac’s heir apparent. Ada played with Nancy and Cory while Jerry told Larry about his first day back on the police force. Leigh told Clarice and Sally that he doesn’t want to be lectured by Denny. Dr. Doris Wagner suggested that James talk to everyone that has hurt him. Jerry didn’t buy it when Blaine said she’s happy that he has rejoined the force. Rick and Leigh discussed why some people develop drug habits. Marianne warned Sally against Cecile. Denny told Curtis it was Mitch who took the photographs at the dock site. Cecile revealed to Liz that James is seeing a therapist and asked her to give James some files. Leigh told Larry and Jerry that he’s trying out for the Bay City Blues hockey team. Clarice suggested Blaine help Denny redecorate the penthouse for Mr. Black. Joey informed Kit that Russ appointed him to start paramedic training. James found the chapter about Miriam Sanderson from Mac’s memoirs among the files Liz left for him and read it.

AUGUST 28, 1981 (EP. #4357)
Leigh tried to get Sally to have a good time at the barbecue. Denny apologized to Sally for lecturing Leigh about their engagement. Ada and Clarice greeted Mitch and Rachel, who arrived at the barbecue. James decided to talk to Mac after reading the chapter about Miriam Sanderson among Mac’s memoirs. Mitch admitted to Denny that he took pictures of the dock site. Rick walked away while Rachel sang Marianne’s praises for helping James. Marianne seemed jealous as Blaine thanked Rick for getting her acquitted for Jordan’s murder. Russ and Alice walked in as James was accusing Mac of never trusting him and denouncing Mac as his father. Alice tried to assure Mac that he hasn’t lost James. Russ laid into James, who vowed to get his life in order without being Mac’s son. Ada didn’t think it made sense for Mitch to move to San Francisco while Rachel stays in Bay City with the children until the custody hearing. Leigh asked Sally to drive him to The Ledger for work. Jerry denied a problem when Larry suggested he see a doctor about the headaches he’s been having. James refused when Cecile tried to convince him to find Sandy. Rachel told Mitch about telling James that Sandy is Mac’s son. Mitch told Rachel to let James work out his own problems. Blaine lamented to Clarice that Jerry wants nothing to do with her. Larry and Jerry received a police call. Mac agreed when Cecile suggested she look for Sandy. Joey asked Kit to think about marrying him while he’s away for paramedic training. James didn’t want to let Cecile go to Santa Monica to find Sandy. Sally admitted to Leigh that she prefers the kind of parties Cecile and James throw. Jerry was knocked out during a police stakeout. Cecile seduced James to convince him to let her search for Sandy.

AUGUST 31, 1981 (EP. #4358)
A bus passenger asked Sandy if he’s returning to Santa Monica to start his life over. Larry went to call for back up after finding an unconscious Jerry. James told Cecile he’s angry with Mac because Mac never told him that Sandy is his son. Cecile urged James not to tell Mac about the “Miriam Sanderson” chapter among Mac’s memoirs. Rick examined Jerry, who was rushed to the hospital. Leigh asked Sally if he is part of her future plans for a demanding career and fancy place. Blaine agreed to drive a frantic Clarice to the hospital. Sally promised Leigh that wanting material possessions won’t get in the way of them having a successful relationship. Cecile took a picture of Sandy from the employee files and made it appear that James stole Mac’s memoirs. Russ treated Jerry, who told Larry that rejoining the force may not have been a good idea. Cecile told Mac that James may have found his memoirs. Cecile convinced Mac to let her find Sandy. Sandy called Melissa and asked for time before he reveals his whereabouts. Mitch called the police after finding his dark room burglarized. Stu Massey offered Sandy a job fixing the horses on a merry-go-round near the pier. Jerry was too distracted to help Larry investigate the burglary at Mitch’s dark room. Marianne bandaged James’s ribs as Olivia instructed. Mac asked for his memoirs to be brought to the hospital by Liz, who found them on Mac’s desk where James has been working. Jerry told Larry he’d see Russ for a follow-up appointment when he finds the time. Stu put Sandy to work. Mac asked to see James after Liz told him that his memoirs were on his desk. Alice urged James not to let Sandy jeopardize his relationship with Mac. Philip told Mitch that the dock site is now owned by the Blackhawk Project and agreed to get Mitch another camera, but thought getting more pictures of the dock site would be a problem. Denny questioned Quinn after being interrogated by Larry and Jerry about the burglary. James resolved to find the copy of the “Miriam Sanderson” chapter when Mac accused him of stealing his memoirs. Curtis admitted to Denny that Mitch’s photographs were pilfered because the Blackhawk project is involved in top secret government affairs. James asked Cecile about the “Miriam Sanderson” chapter of Mac’s memoirs, which is now missing. Mitch was caught by a guard trying to take pictures of the dock site. Alice asked Mac if she could read his memoirs sometime. Stu refused to identify Sandy in a picture Cecile showed him. Liz was surprised to find James still at the Complex looking for a copy of the “Miriam Sanderson” chapter. Sandy denied knowing about anyone looking for him.

SEPTEMBER 2, 1981 (EP. #4360)

Cecile lied to Mac that she hasn’t found Sandy to buy more time in Santa Monica. Louise overheard Mac tell Alice he didn’t object to her taking care of him. Jason asked Denny if he is currently practicing law. Mac advised Louise that Rachel doesn't have a say in his decisions when Louise wondered about Rachel's reaction to Alice being Mac's full-time nurse. Russ accused Jason of being a coward and insisted they talk about Tracy’s death. Mac and Alice assured each other that they are no longer in love with Rachel and Steve. Brian tried to comfort Rachel, who felt that her life with Mitch is on hold because of the pending custody hearing. Jason confessed his part in Tracy’s death to Russ, who decided not to seek revenge. While Rick went to talk to Russ, Blaine watched as Melissa comforted Jason. Clarice left the phone off the hook after receiving another strange call. Jason told Melissa that Russ wants him to be haunted by Tracy’s death. Melissa declared her love for Jason, who admitted to being afraid of losing her. Sandy discussed James’s letter of resignation with Mac and told him that Rachel wants to see him. Russ admitted to Rick that he never allowed himself to grieve for Tracy and is leaving Bay City. Louise wasn’t happy to learn from Mac that he is over Rachel and that Alice has agreed to marry him. Larry assured Clarice that he’s not going to let anything happen to her. Sally accepted Alice’s choice of living separately from Mac until they are married. Rachel refused to believe that Sandy is worried about James or that he and Cecile weren’t involved while she was married to James. Sandy defended Cecile to Rachel, who warned him that Cecile will eventually make his life miserable. Larry told Jerry he wants to keep his apartment under surveillance to protect Clarice. Mac convinced Alice to pose for a photographer as part of their marriage announcement in the paper. Jerry suffered a headache while on a date with Rhonda, who agreed to look out for Clarice. Sandy arrived at Cecile’s penthouse. Sandy promised to spend the night after telling Cecile about his conversation with Rachel.

SEPTEMBER 29, 1981 (EP. #4379)
Sandy admitted to Cecile that he feels guilty about their affair since Cecile is still married to James. Clarice mentioned being unable to sleep to Larry, who received a call with no one on the other end. Cecile tried to assure Sandy that she and James never loved each other and that it’s over between them. Larry told Jerry that, aside from a major hassle, there isn’t much he can do about the strange phone calls Clarice has been getting. Joey was amused when Kit brought groceries over to his apartment as an excuse to see him. Clarice told Ada and Rhonda that Larry is trying to take care of the weird phone calls she has been getting. Cecile put Marianne’s whereabouts into James’s appointment book after calling the ECU. Jerry asked Rhonda out on another date after Larry left the Sporting Life to see Clarice. Rick confided in Russ about Taylor requiring surgery and his marital problems with Marianne. Cecile decided to have Liz find James’s appointment book and talked to herself about her and Sandy moving on with their lives. Ada offered to take Clarice home during the evenings for Larry. Liz gave James’s appointment book to Pat, who noticed the entry Cecile planted. Ada noticed Jerry and Rhonda kissing, who declared their feelings for one another. Blaine offered to help Rick pack after they talked about Russ. Pat couldn’t stop Sandy from reading James’s appointment book. Rick and Blaine discussed Taylor and their respective siblings. Blaine comforted Rick, who worried that Taylor might die. Joey gave Kit her engagement ring back after assuring her that they can make their marriage work. Cecile acted surprised when Sandy told her that James and Marianne left town together. Cecile told Sandy that they are finally free to love each other.

SEPTEMBER 30, 1981 (EP. #4380)
Mac assured Alice of his love and devotion to her. Pat showed James’s appointment book to Rick. James woke up inside an apartment. Liz was concerned about Mac still loving Rachel when Alice mentioned that she’s agreed to marry Mac. Rick refused when Pat suggested he check up on Marianne. James left his apartment after looking at the job listings in the newspaper. Mac asked Brian to legally change Sandy’s last name to Cory and to be prepared for another revision of his will. Quinn ordered Denny to check out the Blackhawk jets and to complete James’s dossier with his current whereabouts. James was interviewed for a construction job and rejected an offer for administrative work. Joey felt Cecile planted the entry in James’s appointment book listing Marianne’s whereabouts and told Rick he doesn’t deserve Marianne if he doubts her fidelity. Denny gave Blaine advice on how to get a statue from Buenos Aires for Mr. Black’s penthouse. Denny and Blaine both agreed that they are anxious to meet Mr. Black. Cecile pleaded with Mac not to be angry with her about being involved with Sandy. Cecile tried to assure Mac that her marriage is over and that she is happy James has found Marianne. Mac asked for time to accept Sandy and Cecile’s relationship. Melissa tried to cheer up Jason, who fretted over his current lifestyle. James had no luck finding a construction job with another company. Jason warned Denny against flirting with Melissa. Frankie convinced Mrs. Shaffer to let him speak with James about working at the Blackhawk Project. Jim gave Mac and Alice his blessing on their impending nuptials. Frankie decided to hire James for a construction job. Alice agreed to let Mac tell Rachel about their engagement.

OCTOBER 1, 1981 (EP. #4381)
Mac told Rachel that Alice has accepted his marriage proposal. Philip asked Sandy to take a photograph of Mr. Black. Sally laid into James for leaving Cecile, quitting his job, and disappearing. Rachel accused Mac of replacing her and James with Alice and Sandy. Philip requested that Sandy take pictures of the Blackhawk Project and dock site. James told Sally he’s registering for classes at Bay State and has found a new job. Ada urged Rachel to accept Mac and Alice’s impending nuptials. Larry promised Clarice that he’ll stop the weird phone calls. A guard suggested Sandy ask Denny for permission to photograph the Blackhawk project. Jerry offered to buy an answering machine for Larry and Clarice. Denny asked a lonely Sally to dinner. James was surprised to hear from Rachel that Mac thinks he’s with Marianne. James wouldn’t reveal his current whereabouts but told Rachel he’s working construction. Jerry and Larry hoped to capture Clarice’s breathy calls on the answering machine. Quinn arranged for Sandy to have access to the Blackhawk Project. Ada approved of James’s choice to make it on his own and suggested Rachel pay more attention to her relationship with Mitch. Frankie updated Denny on the construction of the penthouse. Sandy took pictures and pumped a guard for information about Mr. Black. Denny discussed Leigh and his job with Sally. Sandy told Philip about his tour of the Blackhawk project and resolved to return there later. James was intrigued when Frankie told him about Mr. Black. Rachel planned to visit Mitch in San Francisco. A masked voyeur watched Clarice.

OCTOBER 2, 1981 (EP. #4382)
Louise listened while Mac told Amanda a story. Rachel told Mac about James and that she’d like to take Amanda with her to San Francisco. Rick showed James his appointment book when James insisted he never left town with Marianne. Sandy tried unsuccessfully to regain access to the Blackhawk Project. Mac asked for time to consider letting Rachel take Amanda. Rick believed James, who assumed it was Sandy and Cecile who planted the entry regarding Marianne’s whereabouts in his appointment book. Clarice told Ada she mistook a call as being from her “breathy caller.” Alice alleviated Mac’s fears of Rachel not returning with Amanda and suggested he figure out James’s whereabouts. Joey agreed to help Sandy get into the Blackhawk Project. Ada refused to let Clarice go home alone. Frankie advised James to take it easy at work. Joey called security claiming a worker was hurt so Sandy could get into the Blackhawk Project. Mac told Rachel that Alice convinced him to let her take Amanda to San Francisco. After checking out the apartment, Ada felt confident enough to leave Clarice and Cory alone. Sandy was nearly caught snooping around by James and Frankie. Mac asked Alice to have dinner with him. A guard told Frankie that two guys dressed as paramedics snuck into Blackhawk. Sandy hid behind a box while Frankie noticed that James hadn’t left work. Marianne arrived home to greet Rick. Rachel tried to assure Brian that she will return to Bay City with Amanda. The masked voyeur watched Clarice get ready for a shower. While Sandy hid, Frankie told James about an office in the warehouse that no one is allowed into. Rachel thanked Alice for convincing Mac to let her take Amanda. Rachel told Louise that Mac and Alice’s engagement is the perfect time for her to take a trip with Amanda. James heard noises and inched near Sandy, who held a crowbar for protection.

Mac feared he may have lost Amanda by letting Rachel take her to San Francisco. Marianne accused Rick of not trusting her after seeing the entry in James’s appointment book that Cecile planted. Alice convinced Mac that Rachel will return with Amanda and to invite James to the engagement party. Frankie interrupted James almost catching Sandy in the warehouse. Russ told Alice he’s leaving town to see Olivia and Tracy’s parents. Sandy escaped from the warehouse and leapt into an ambulance, where Joey was waiting. Larry forced Jerry to see a doctor after finding him passed out from a headache. Rhonda offered to accompany Clarice and Cory home and admitted her feelings for Jerry. Frankie ordered James to concentrate more on work and less on his suspicions of the Blackhawk Project. Russ and Larry convinced Jerry to remain at the hospital so Russ could run some tests. Clarice had Cory go over to a neighbor's place while she checked out the apartment and discovered a torn family picture. Joey warned Sandy not to let himself get hurt investigating the dock site. Larry and Clarice realized that Clarice’s breathy caller broke into their apartment. Marianne chastised Pat for assuming that she was with James while out of town. Philip reluctantly agreed to let Sandy find work at the dock site. Rhonda visited Jerry in the hospital. Marianne tried to assure Rick of her faithfulness and wishes to make their marriage work. Sandy refused Cecile’s suggestion that they make their relationship public. Marianne called Cecile to say she plans to get to the bottom of the entry in James’s appointment book. Frankie promised to get some answers to James’s questions about the Blackhawk Project.

OCTOBER 6, 1981 (EP. #4384)
Sally suggested Mac check out the Bay State registration records for James’s whereabouts. Mac noticed that Ada had doubts about Rachel coming back with Amanda for the custody hearing. James asked Brian to arrange a meeting for him and Cecile after seeing the appraisal for the Cory cabin. Denny told Curtis that he already informed Mr. Black about Mac and Alice’s engagement. Blaine told Melissa she thinks she is falling for Rick. James told Ada that maybe Rachel shouldn’t return to Bay City if she’s found happiness with Mitch in San Francisco. Denny gave James’s current whereabouts to Curtis, who let Denny know that Mr. Black will be arriving in two weeks. Cecile and Sally were discussing Cecile’s relationship with Sandy when Brian called to arrange a meeting between her and James. Jason came to see Denny about a job working at Blackhawk. Mac tried calling James after obtaining the phone number from the Bay State records. Cecile wasn’t pleased to hear from James that Brian wasn’t going to be present during their meeting. James accused Cecile of drugging him and threatened to go public with the information unless she gives him the Cory cabin. Melissa griped to Jason about the wrong people falling in love. Denny asked to speak with James after Frankie revealed it was James who made him curious about the Blackhawk Project. Sally comforted Cecile over her confrontation with James. James met Blue. Mac revealed to James that he was never released as his heir apparent. James agreed to go to Mac and Alice’s engagement party. Blaine pumped Quinn for information on Mr. Black. Russ informed Clarice that she’s in good physical health to have a baby. Clarice told Russ about the strange phone calls she’s been getting. Sandy mentioned getting hired at Blackhawk to Philip, who instructed him to get a photograph of Mr. Black. Blaine found a secret door leading to a two-way mirror above the fireplace at the penthouse. Jerry refused to see a psychiatrist for his headaches while having a consultation with Russ. Frankie warned Sandy not to ask so many questions about the Blackhawk Project if he wants to keep his job. Blaine told James that the mystery will be solved once Mr. Black arrives in Bay City. Jerry offered to keep an eye on Clarice for Larry. Ada suggested Louise accept Mac and Alice’s marriage. Blaine showed the two-way mirror to Denny, who advised her not to ask any questions. Mac and Alice toasted to a new life together. James told Blue he suspects he’s being transferred from the dock site because he’s being too inquisitive. Blaine nearly caught Sandy taking pictures of the penthouse. Larry suggested Clarice visit a neighbor when she called about the strange message she received. Marianne asked Rick for time before she can forgive him for doubting her fidelity. Quinn and Denny complimented Blaine’s job on the penthouse and agreed to find a permanent position for her at Blackhawk. Larry and Jerry decided to pinpoint the location of where Clarice’s caller left the message, which included the sound of an ambulance and another noise. Marianne confronted Cecile about the entry in James’s appointment book. Joey gave the routes of two ambulances that were on duty at the time of Clarice’s phone call and listened to the taped message. Marianne warned Cecile to be careful when she denied any wrongdoing. Kit told Blaine to stay away from Rick. Denny showed Quinn and Curtis the two-way mirror, where they noticed Sandy coming in to the penthouse. Joey told Larry and Jerry that the other noise on the tape is a pinball machine located in a bar. Kit suggested Marianne see Rick before Blaine does. Denny suggested to Quinn and Curtis that they keep an eye on Sandy, who took more pictures of the penthouse. Jerry had Rhonda play a pinball machine while he investigated the bar. Marianne wasn’t pleased to find Blaine talking to Rick. Ed Sadowski disapproved of Jerry involving Rhonda with police work. Sandy believed Cecile, who claimed she didn’t tamper with James’s appointment book. Rick defended his friendship with Blaine to Marianne. Marianne considered it pointless to defend herself when Rick accused her of constantly running to James. Sandy interrupted Cecile fuming about James and Marianne spending time together at the party. Denny revealed his encounter with Mr. Black to Blaine, who asked to be introduced to him. While Melissa sang, Blaine left Denny alone to talk to Rick, who admitted that Marianne walked out on him. Marianne interrupted Brian and Pat agreeing that they are both too cautious in life to tell Pat that she‘s left Rick. Marianne told Pat she’s tired of Rick’s doubts and asked to live at Pat’s apartment while she figures things out. Blaine blamed herself for Rick and Marianne’s marital troubles and admitted her feelings for Rick. Rick refused when Blaine offered to lend him a shoulder to cry on. Curtis told Frankie that Sandy works for the Daily Ledger and asked for security to be called. The judge questioned Rachel, who mentioned that Amanda would be raised in San Francisco. Frankie refused to let James know what the police plan to do with Sandy. Clarice received a breathy phone call at Blaine’s house. Philip suggested Sandy talk to Mac about the Blackhawk Project. Kit urged Marianne to make a decision about what she wants and to call James. Mac agreed to let Alice bring over some of her possessions she had with Steve over to the Cory estate once they are married. Marianne called James and made a tentative date. Brian asked Mac to obtain Sandy's birth certificate so his name change could be legally completed. Sandy told Mac and Brian about his arrest at the dock site. Edward asked Denny to research Mac’s drug rehabilitation center. Edward fantasized about telling James that he’s his father on James’s birthday. James comforted Rachel, who cried over losing Amanda. Mac felt he, Alice, and Amanda were at last one big happy family. Mitch called Rachel, who couldn’t think of anything else except Amanda.

Sally revealed that Cecile is pregnant to James, who figured that Sandy is the father of the child. Sandy told Cecile that he loves her unconditionally, regardless of her past and hopes she feels the same. Rhonda fretted over not hearing from Jerry to Clarice, who suggested she talk to Jerry herself. Marianne agreed to accompany Rick and Kit to Philadelphia. Larry promised Clarice he’ll talk to Jerry about Rhonda. Blue tried to stop a fight that ensued between James and a coworker, who was upset when Frankie gave James a work assignment. Blaine seemed hurt when Rick told her that Marianne is leaving town with him and Kit. Jerry admitted to Larry that he has feelings for Rhonda but is afraid of getting hurt again. Sandy found a copy of the “Miriam Sanderson” chapter of Mac’s memoirs among Cecile’s belongings while looking for the keys to his apartment. Blaine let it slip to James that Marianne is leaving town with Rick. Clarice didn’t mind when Blaine called wanting to work out a misunderstanding with Rick instead of coming over. Larry came home to Clarice, who freaked when the power went off. Blue convinced James to go to a bar with him after work. Cecile played dumb when Sandy realized that James was telling the truth about reading a copy of the “Miriam Sanderson” chapter and that Mac doesn’t know about the copy. Rick was surprised when Blaine mentioned that James and Marianne had a date planned for tomorrow night. Blue was impressed when James stood up to a coworker in defense of a female bartender. The voyeur called Clarice saying he wants to embrace her and not hurt her. Rick told Marianne it isn’t such a good idea for her to come to Philadelphia with him since she had a tentative date with James for tomorrow night. Sandy urged Cecile not to keep anything secret from him.

OCTOBER 28, 1981 (EP. #4397)
Edward ordered Curtis to find a photograph when he noticed one was missing from the collection taken from James‘s apartment. James called Sandy after looking at a picture of Edward hidden in one of his album covers. Rachel sadly told Amanda she’ll get to spend summers with her in San Francisco and gave Amanda a locket with pictures of Matthew and Rachel. Larry informed Clarice and Jerry that Clarice is going over to Blaine’s house and should not be alone. A man overheard James tell Sandy that he will drop the photograph off at the Daily Ledger before he goes to work. Edward asked Curtis to arrange for James to be sent on an out-of-town construction job. Jerry suggested that Larry and Clarice take a vacation and agreed to watch the apartment for them. Mac and Rachel reminisced about their relationship, wished each other well, and said their goodbyes. Rhonda convinced Jerry to go out on a date with her. James promised to visit Amanda so she wouldn’t forget Rachel. Rachel gave James a book by Steve’s favorite author. Clarice was thrilled with Larry’s vacation plans. Ada suggested that Rachel try to convince Mitch to come back to Bay City. Rachel told Ada she feels like she has to choose between Mitch and Amanda. James and Blue volunteered for Frankie’s out-of-town construction job. Jerry and Rhonda said goodbye to Larry, Clarice, and Cory. Jerry and Rhonda kissed while making plans to have ice cream. Pat asked Marianne what would happen if James “fell off” the pedestal she has put him on. Curtis offered to arrange a car to take Rachel to the airport for James. Jerry had Rhonda call the police station while he checked out two guys going into a liquor store with guns. Pat urged Marianne to stop romanticizing men and to expect only love in return. Rachel had Ada hold Matthew while she found out what was taking James so long. Frankie gave James and Blue coats and refused to reveal their destination. Curtis tried to reason with Rachel, who insisted on knowing James’s whereabouts. Rachel recognized Edward as Steve Frame.

OCTOBER 29, 1981 (EP. #4398)
Ed Sadowski accused Jerry of involving Rhonda in police business and forced her to go home. Marianne told Pat that she thinks James broke their date. Curtis tried to reason with Rachel, who insisted on knowing James’s whereabouts. Rachel recognized Edward as Steve Frame, despite Curtis denying it. Ed warned Jerry to stay away from Rhonda. Marianne decided to stay home and sulk rather than go shopping with Pat and Alice. Rachel told Ada about her conversation with Curtis and that she saw Steve. Rhonda advised Jerry not to let her brother or their age difference bother him. Steve laid into Curtis for letting Rachel see him and ordered Curtis to rectify the situation. Ada thought Rachel was under a lot of strain for thinking Steve was alive. Rhonda stood up to Ed, who apologized to Jerry for coming down on him so hard. Steve told Denny to research Mac’s drug rehabilitation center and have a report on it ready by the morning. Ada suggested Rachel call Mitch to explain the reasons when Rachel refused to leave for San Francisco. Rachel told Marianne not to rush into a new relationship or risk regretting it later. Denny asked Sally to dinner. Sally interrupted Denny questioning Alice about the drug rehabilitation center. Curtis arranged a limousine for and gave plane tickets to Rachel, who vowed to see Steve again soon. Jerry tried to call Rhonda, who had gone to bed. Sally told Denny that Cecile is pregnant and that James knows, but doesn‘t care if Sandy is the father. When Sally grew suspicious of Denny’s questions about James and Cecile, Denny told Sally he likes her and wants to know about the people she cares about. Rachel promised to herself that she won’t leave Bay City until she figures out why Steve has returned. Steve hoped Rachel would leave town so that he can present himself to Alice. On the phone, Rachel made excuses to Mitch in order to remain in Bay City.

OCTOBER 30, 1981 (EP. #4399)
Curtis told Steve that Rachel didn’t leave Bay City last night. After interrupting Kit and Joey kissing, Joey offered to fix Rick’s car for him. Rick called Blaine and invited her to the hospital. Rachel told Ada that she didn’t tell Mitch about seeing Steve. Curtis advised Steve that James has been instructed to write a letter to Rachel explaining his whereabouts. Steve informed Curtis to keep him away from Rachel. Rick mentioned his improved relationship with Taylor to Doris, who gave Rick tapes of old cases to transcribe. Rachel told Ada she plans to confront Steve and tell James his natural father is alive. Sally confided in Marianne about not keeping a friend’s secret. Rick got upset when Joey tried to reason with Rick about Marianne. Rachel threatened Curtis, who refused to let her see Steve. Denny told Steve about the rehabilitation center and that Cecile is pregnant. Steve asked Denny to find out the paternity of Cecile’s child. Rachel was confused by James’s letter, which she read to Pat. Rachel told Pat that it would be pointless for Marianne to pursue James because he’s not ready for a new relationship. Denny suggested Sally keep quiet about revealing Cecile’s pregnancy to him. Pat tried to assure Rick that James doesn’t love Marianne. Ada suggested Rachel talk to Denny about arranging a meeting with Steve. Cecile wasn’t pleased when Sally told her James knows she’s pregnant. Rick and Marianne agreed to meet each other later to talk. Denny interrupted Rachel interrogating Quinn. Denny eased Rachel’s concerns about James, but was shocked when Rachel revealed that Edward Black is actually Steve Frame. Cecile lied to Sandy that she was upset with Sally over something work-related and assured Sandy she’s not keeping anything from him. Rick told Blaine that he is meeting with Marianne later. Doris listened to James’s taped admission that he loves Marianne, then accidentally left the tape for Rick to transcribe. Ada was trying to convince Rachel to go to San Francisco, when Rachel remembered saying goodbye to Amanda.

NOVEMBER 2, 1981 (EP. #4400)
Sandy convinced Cecile to go out for the evening with him. Doris left Rick alone to transcribe tapes of old cases, where Rick heard James’s taped admission that he loves Marianne. Denny asked Steve whether it’s true that his real name is Steve Frame and that he is James's father. Melissa accused Sandy of being blind. Rick told Jason that he wants to be alone. Melissa informed Sandy she refuses to approve of his relationship with Cecile. Steve admitted his true identity to Denny, but asked that Denny keep the information to himself. Rhonda asked Jerry on a dinner date after telling him not to worry about her brothers. Rick was evasive with Melissa about his reasons for wanting to get drunk. Curtis assured Steve that Denny will keep quiet about his true identity and recommended that Steve take action to get Alice back. Alice advised Marianne to only return to Rick if it’s for the right reasons. Jason called Blaine when Rick refused to stop drinking and let someone drive him home. As Melissa started singing, Cecile and Sandy agreed to go to her penthouse together. Jerry and Rhonda declared their love for each other. Jason told Blaine that he and Melissa tried to keep Rick from getting drunk. Jason and Blaine carried Rick out of the Connection. Sandy urged Cecile to make a doctor’s appointment. Blaine had difficulty tending to a drunk Rick, who passed out on the floor. After talking to Rachel asking for her silence about Steve’s identity, Curtis told Steve he’d hate to do business with Rachel. Denny advised Jerry not to let Rhonda’s family intimidate him. Marianne, who was upset that Rick didn’t show up at the hospital to talk, refused Alice’s offer to drive her home. Steve asked Curtis to arrange a meeting with Rachel. Alice agreed to meet Rachel at L’Auberge tomorrow.

NOVEMBER 3, 1981 (EP. #4401)
Steve ordered Curtis to find Rachel and arrange a meeting with her. Marianne told Alice that she doesn’t want to talk to Rick. Alice told Marianne that Rachel insists on seeing her. Mac was surprised to see Rachel when she came into his office. Rick was explaining to Kit that James loves Marianne when Blaine entered the room. Marianne assured Alice that Rachel won’t come between her and Mac. Rachel informed Mac that she hasn’t left for San Francisco because of Amanda and being worried about James. Mac promised to tell Rachel if he discovers anything about the Blackhawk Project. Blaine and Kit argued about Rick, who defended Blaine‘s actions. Curtis told Rachel that Steve would like to see her. Blaine and Rick shared kisses after she said nothing happened between them last night. Mac told Liz, Kit, Brian, Alice, Philip, and Doris that Blackhawk contributed half the funds needed for the drug rehabilitation center. Philip and Mac mentioned that very little information is known about the Blackhawk Project or Edward Black. Curtis brought Rachel into the penthouse where she met Steve. Mac asked Philip to research further when Philip wondered if Edward Black is an assumed name. Rick told Marianne that he doesn’t believe she and James don’t love each other. Steve informed Rachel that he survived the helicopter crash, developed amnesia, and lapsed into a coma for seven months. Mac and Alice discussed plans for their honeymoon. Steve told Rachel that he had cosmetic surgery, fell in love with his nurse Pamela Strickland, and that he has a step-daughter named Diana. Rachel asked Steve why he returned to Bay City if he didn’t want anyone to know his identity. Joey and Kit made wedding plans. Alice remembered spending time with Steve. Steve let Rachel know he wants to reclaim Alice and James as his family. Mac understood when Alice told him she has agreed to meet Rachel at L’Auberge later in the evening.

NOVEMBER 4, 1981 (EP. #4402)
Cecile told Sandy that she made a doctor’s appointment for next week. Sandy informed Cecile that he is going to Joey’s apartment to get Mac’s memoirs and the copy of the “Miriam Sanderson” chapter. Steve asked Curtis to discover Alice’s whereabouts and planned to meet her soon. Sally told Alice that she received a call from Rachel, who didn’t show up at L’Auberge last night. Cecile was puzzled when Sandy mentioned that he and James have called an unofficial truce. Alice told Sally that she is going to the Lake Marie for the day to think. Mac called Alice and invited her over for dinner. Rhonda brought groceries over to Larry and Clarice’s apartment to see Jerry. Brooks urged Louise to accept Alice and her future marriage to Mac for Amanda’s sake. Steve told Curtis that he doesn’t know how long he can wait to see Alice. After speaking with Sandy, Mac realized that James was telling the truth about there being a copy of the “Miriam Sanderson” chapter. Mac agreed with Sandy’s hopes that he and James will work out their differences. Rhonda reluctantly agreed to Jerry’s suggestion that he meet her family. Steve wasn’t happy to hear that Denny couldn’t learn Alice’s whereabouts and ordered him to find Alice right away. Mac wondered to Brooks who took his memoirs from his safe and made a copy of the “Miriam Sanderson” chapter. Philip and Sandy discussed the missing photograph Sandy took at the warehouse and the Blackhawk Project. Sally told Denny that Alice went to the lake to think. Philip asked Sandy to research Blackhawk’s contribution to the drug rehabilitation center. Sally urged Cecile to tell Sandy that he’s the father of her child. Denny gave Alice’s whereabouts to Steve. Cecile destroyed mail from James to Sandy, which contained the photograph of Edward Black. Jerry developed a headache after a confrontation with Ed Sadowski regarding Rhonda leaving town. Alice had flashbacks of Steve and Mac. Mac told Brooks and Louise that he’s the happiest man in the world right now. Alice came face to face with Steve.

NOVEMBER 5, 1981 (EP. #4403)
Larry, Clarice, and Cory arrived home from their vacation. Steve re-introduced himself to Alice. Alice refused to let Steve explain his long absence. Brooks and Louise disagreed on whether Alice will make as good a wife to Mac as Rachel. Mac received a call from Alice, who canceled their dinner date citing the flu. Larry and Clarice couldn’t cheer up a depressed Jerry. Steve revealed he’s using the assumed name Edward Black to Alice, who refused to meet with him and told him not to call her again. Denny interrogated Quinn about Steve and the Blackhawk Project. Denny figured that he would "score some points" by reuniting Steve and Alice. Clarice updated Denny on Leigh and frowned at his intentions to help Sally with schoolwork and finding a career. Steve and Curtis talked to Diana over the phone and planned to bring her to Bay City later. Curtis asked Steve where he stands with Alice. Larry urged Jerry to find someone new and to come over to the apartment anytime he likes. Steve assured Curtis that he will reconcile with Alice. Rachel told Steve it’s too late for him to be a father to James. Alice lied to Jim that an old acquaintance is trying to get back in touch with her. Brooks and Louise poured over plans for the greenhouse. Mac asked Brooks to bring a cake and floral arrangement to Alice. Steve was confident with Curtis about landing the Bel Air Towers construction project. Steve asked Quinn to bring the construction crew home from Wyoming, since he wants James back in Bay City. Brooks was surprised when Jim mentioned that Alice was feeling well. Larry and Clarice discussed how edgy Jerry seemed. Louise questioned Brooks, who lied to Mac about Alice being sick in bed. Jerry left shortly after arriving at the apartment where Larry and Clarice were carrying on.

NOVEMBER 6, 1981 (EP. #4404)
Frankie let Blue go home and told James that the “big boss” wants to see him. Kit was frustrated with Joey, who was too rushed to commit to any of her wedding plans. Steve asked Quinn to send roses to Alice. Doris prepared Rick for his first presentation and advised Rick not to let his personal feelings interfere with his work in psychiatry. Alice confided in Doris about whether to keep a secret or not. Rick apologized to Blaine for drinking too much. Blaine told Rick she is sorry nothing happened between them the other night. Kit became angry when Rick assumed that Kit is afraid of making the same mistake twice by remarrying Joey. James walked into the penthouse to find Steve grilling Curtis about some construction figures. Alice hypothesized to Kit that the wedding plans might remind Joey of the problems they had in the past. James told Sandy that he doesn’t hold any grudges against Mac and never wants to see Cecile again. James refused when Sandy wanted to renew their friendship. Alice agreed to have dinner with Mac. Sandy planned to talk to Cecile after James revealed why he left her. Kit apologized to Joey for pressuring him about wedding plans. Joey suggested to Kit that they elope. Mac told Alice he always insisted on knowing the truth from Rachel, which hurt their marriage. Mac and Alice decided to set a wedding date once his divorce from Rachel is final. Sandy left to think after Cecile admitted to lying about the night James left her. Mac and Alice danced together. Joey and Kit kissed while looking over places to go and elope. Cecile cried as Sandy walked out on her.

NOVEMBER 9, 1981 (EP. #4405)
Larry called Jerry to remind him that he’s late for work. Joey showed Marianne pamphlets for his and Kit’s honeymoon. Cecile and Sally were going over cover stories for Brava when Cecile received a call from Dr. Christopher. Dr. Christopher wanted to put Cecile on pre-natal vitamins and a diet program. While Pat was on the phone, Alice remembered coming face to face with Steve. Alice told Pat she doesn’t plan to tell Mac that Steve is alive. Mac asked Liz to arrange a meeting between him and Philip. Denny offered Jim a job as CPA for the Blackhawk Project. Joey consulted with a travel agent on a honeymoon spot. Jerry told Larry he doesn’t remember buying groceries. Mac informed Philip that, if Brian tells him the offer is reasonable, he will sell the Daily Ledger. Sandy told Melissa about his conversations with James and Cecile. Sally told Clarice that she and Leigh have agreed to break their engagement, but still go steady. Clarice was surprised to hear that Sally is going out to dinner with Denny. Philip told Pat that he’s no longer working for the Daily Ledger and is thinking of leaving town. Mac asked Sandy to act as liaison for the Daily Ledger’s change in ownership. Sandy forgave Cecile for lying to him. Cecile told Sandy that she’s pregnant with his child. Kit was thrilled with Joey’s suggestion that they get married and go skiing in Switzerland. Jerry brought over a bear for Cory and referred to himself as the boy’s father, which surprised Clarice. Denny showed Steve’s penthouse to Sally, where they kissed. Larry suggested he and Clarice give the bear that Jerry brought over to their new baby. Joey and Kit practiced skiing.

Note: Last appearance of Ray Liotta as Joey Perrini.

NOVEMBER 10, 1981 (EP. #4406)
James was puzzled when Rachel offered to talk to him after James has his meeting with Edward Black. Kit told Jerry that she and Joey have set a wedding date. Jerry tried to make a phone call, then locked up Kit’s apartment and broke into it shortly afterwards. Louise told Rachel that Alice canceled dinner plans with Mac because she was supposedly ill, which turned out not to be true. Brooks warned Louise not to interfere in Mac, Alice, or Rachel’s lives. Jerry called Joey suggesting he change the locks to Kit’s apartment since he was able to break into it so easily. Jerry lost his temper with Larry over a work assignment. Philip urged Sandy to pursue a journalistic career and to make sure he truly wants to marry Cecile. In front of Melissa, Jerry lambasted Larry for constantly worrying about Clarice and her breathy caller. Steve and Curtis discussed Alice and the bid for the Bel Aire Towers project, which Steve had Quinn deliver. James arrived at the penthouse to meet Edward Black. Louise didn’t seem to care about any of Alice’s plans and refused to give her a recipe of one of Mac’s favorite meals. James was put off by all of Edward’s questions about his father and family, but eventually opened up and realized that Edward is Steve Frame. James heard Steve’s explanations but rejected him as his father and told him to forget he ever had a son. James accused Rachel of keeping secrets and of being a hypocrite. Clarice stood up to her breathy caller. James laid into Doris and paid her off for his sessions. Doris gave the money to Rick to give back to James. James told Blue that he is starting a novel about Bay City hypocrisy called “A View Of The Bay.” Melissa called Marianne about James’ drinking. Larry was pleased with Clarice for standing up to her breathy caller. A drunk James burned his manuscript and talked cryptically to Marianne about a new novel he's going to write.

Note: Last appearance of Bradley Bliss as Kit Halloway.

NOVEMBER 11, 1981 (EP. #4407)
James resented Marianne’s attempts to pamper him and accusations that he falls apart whenever things go wrong. Larry called Jerry, who advised he wasn’t feeling well enough to come to work. The breathy caller phoned Clarice to say the time has come for the two of them to get together. Pat urged James to continue writing when James mentioned he destroyed his original manuscript. Ada told Clarice that James destroyed his novel. Ada suggested that Marianne leave James alone for a while. Philip said goodbye to Brian, who complimented his work at the Daily Ledger, and left a note for Pat. Rick advised Marianne to steer clear of James and to get him back to see Doris. Clarice told Larry not to worry about her so much. Clarice told Ada that she’s not going to tell Larry that she received another breathy phone call. Clarice tried to call Jerry to no avail. James agreed to renew his friendship with Sandy and asked to be alone. A shadowy figure broke into Larry and Clarice’s apartment. Cecile apologized to James for lying to him about having an affair with Sandy and admitted to being pregnant. Cecile asked James not ruin the lives of Sandy and her unborn child by revealing that Cecile drugged him. Clarice’s voyeur laid on Larry and Clarice’s bed. James cried on Blaine’s shoulders after Blaine suggested James see Rick or Doris again about his problems. Ada refused to let Clarice take a cab home. Clarice’s voyeur stared at a picture of Larry, Clarice, and Cory, then took a dress out of the closet and left it on the floor. Pat agreed to go out to dinner with Brian. Clarice received a call from Larry, who was let out of work early. Clarice’s voyeur watched as Ada left Clarice alone at her apartment. Larry had car trouble. Clarice’s voyeur attacked Clarice from behind and forced her onto the bed. Larry was able to get his car started. Clarice recognized her voyeur as Jerry.

Note: Last appearance of Robert Gentry as Philip Lyons.

NOVEMBER 12, 1981 (EP. #4408)
Clarice recognized her voyeur as Jerry, who escaped the apartment. Clarice tried to call Larry, but couldn’t tell the police what happened. Larry was shocked when Clarice told him that her caller was Jerry and that she had been raped. Rick agreed to drive Blaine to Larry and Clarice’s apartment after Larry called. Larry urged Clarice to see a doctor and planned to make Jerry suffer for what he did. Jerry had drinks at the Connection while talking to Jason and Melissa. Larry refused to listen to Rick, who tried to explain Jerry’s possible motivations for raping Clarice. Rick, Blaine, and Clarice couldn’t convince Larry to stay home and let the police handle the situation. Denny griped about overwork to Quinn, who suggested Denny find his own place within the Blackhawk organization. Jason was put off by Jerry’s compliments about Melissa’s looks, but told Jerry to cheer up when he mentioned Rhonda. Jerry lost his temper over Jason and Melissa’s plans to revamp the Connection to attract a younger crowd. Larry broke into Jerry’s apartment. Rick tried to calm down Clarice and asked Blaine to call the police to tell them that Larry is looking for Jerry. Captain Petroni ordered Larry to come back to the precinct. Captain Petroni asked Ed Sadowski and Officer Miller to search for Jerry and to handle Larry with caution. Blaine checked on Cory for Clarice. Clarice received a phone call from Larry, who vowed to get Jerry. Rick called Doris after giving Clarice a sedative. Larry refused to cooperate with Captain Petroni. Jerry became abusive towards customers, prompting Jason to call the police. Larry overheard Captain Petroni announce that Jerry is at the Connection. Jerry was offering Denny a drink when Larry arrived at the Connection. Jerry was genuinely surprised by Larry’s accusations. Denny managed to restrain Larry from shooting Jerry until he could be arrested by Ed and his partner. Rick told Blaine that Doris told him he handled the situation with Clarice properly. Captain Petroni told Jerry he’s being booked for rape and ordered Larry to go home to Clarice.

NOVEMBER 13, 1981 (EP. #4409)
Larry tried to comfort Clarice, who dreaded facing Jerry during a police lineup. Denny was telling Steve, Quinn, and Curtis about Clarice’s rape when Steve received a call from the Bel Aire Towers Project. Larry told Ada that Clarice is certain that Jerry was her rapist and asked for advice on how to handle the situation. Steve landed the Bel Aire Towers construction project and asked Quinn to arrange a meeting between him and Blaine. Captain Petroni and Rick were shocked when Jerry attacked Rick, who obtained a sample of Jerry’s blood for evidence. Clarice refused to let Larry blame himself for the rape and for losing control at the Connection. Larry and Clarice agreed to band together. Rick and Blaine comforted each other about nightmares and Clarice’s rape. Doris gave Rick lab results, which proved that Jerry raped Clarice. Doris suggested Rick have Captain Petroni bring Jerry over to the hospital so they could run some tests. Curtis cautioned Steve on bringing Diana to Bay City. When Curtis wondered where Diana is going to live, Steve asked Denny to purchase Blaine’s house. Clarice identified Jerry as her rapist in a police lineup. Blaine admitted to once being married to Jerry and was surprised that Denny didn’t plan to come over to Larry and Clarice’s apartment later. Rick consulted with Doris over his frustrations about psychiatry. Blaine accepted Steve’s offers to purchase her house and have it redecorated. Steve hired Blaine to throw a party announcing the acquisition of the Bel Aire Towers construction project and to run public relations for Blackhawk. Jerry tried to plead his case to Larry and Clarice. Quinn wasn’t pleased with Blaine’s progress within the Blackhawk organization. Captain Petroni told Jerry he’s being sent to the hospital for some physical and mental tests to be run. Jerry called Brian and asked him to come to the hospital.

Note: Diana Frame’s age is revealed to be 16.

NOVEMBER 16, 1981 (EP. #4410)
Marianne kept knocking on James’ door despite him yelling to go away. Cecile was maligning Pat’s choice of a Brava article to Sally when Dr. Kristopher called. Cecile set up an appointment with Dr. Kristopher, who wanted the father of her child present. Sally liked Cecile’s idea of eloping with Sandy. James didn’t appreciate Marianne fussing over him. James told Marianne that his novel will cure what is bothering him. Liz gave manuscripts to Mac, who consulted with Pat about Sandy assuming James’ former job responsibilities. Mac appointed Brian as chief legal counsel and told him he plans to groom Sandy for the publishing business. Pat advised Marianne to concentrate on her feelings for Rick and to stay away from James. Mac asked Liz to call Louise, who disagrees with Alice on redecorating plans for the Cory estate. Mac gave his blessing when Sandy told him that Cecile is pregnant. Steve asked Quinn to arrange a meeting between him and Harry Shea at Tallboys. Pat told Brian that she wants to be courted. Rachel told Ada she is going to a party at Blackhawk instead of dinner at Clarice's. Steve had lunch with James in an effort to get to know him better and to offer James an executive position at Blackhawk. After arguing over a Brava article, Cecile suggested Pat do market research and sales figures per Mac's idea. Pat and Alice eyed each other knowingly when Mac decided to accept an invitation for a party hosted by Edward Black. James informed Rachel that he refused Steve’s job offer. Rachel was offended by James’ note-taking when she mentioned her past relationship with Steve. Cecile was excited with Sandy’s suggestion that they have a Christmas wedding. Alice told Steve that she loves Mac and assured him that Mac won’t be threatened by his true identity. Alice returned a ring Steve gave to her. Rachel led Steve on a tour of the art gallery. A distracted Alice asked to leave Tallboys early after Mac and Alice settled on a spring wedding date. Rachel agreed to consider Steve’s commission to create a sculpture for the Bel Aire Towers

Blaine discussed the upcoming Blackhawk party and redecorating her house for Diana with Denny. Jerry had to be escorted out of Rick’s office after having flashbacks of raping Clarice and going into a schizophrenic fit. Clarice got upset over being unable to work on Blaine’s hair. Blaine told Ada about getting hired at Blackhawk. Rick advised Dr. Emily Cole that Jerry attacked him. Curtis suggested Denny carve his own niche within the organization when Denny griped about overwork. Sandy agreed to have dinner at L’Auberge with Cecile so they could talk. Joe Masterson tried to convince Harry to put some muscle into the union negotiations. Clarice told Denny that he stifles his emotions and frowned when Denny mentioned he’s taking Sally to Edward Black’s party. Rick suggested that Blaine get Clarice involved in the Blackhawk party to keep her mind occupied. Rick told Blaine he no longer wants to see her as his patient and agreed to accompany Blaine to the Blackhawk party. Rick and Dr. Emily Cole convinced Clarice to set up an appointment with Doris. Harry and Denny arranged a meeting over the phone. Clarice agreed to help Blaine with the party. Jerry gave Dr. Emily Cole and Rick permission to do a CAT scan on him. Clarice spoke with a caterer and had Larry put Cory to bed. An argument ensued when Larry accused Clarice of leading Jerry on. Cecile confessed to Sandy that she kept her pregnancy a secret because she was afraid of losing him. Joe Masterson told Denny that Harry is old-fashioned and talked cryptically about mutual agreements. Larry and Clarice comforted each other.

Note: First appearance of Barry Snider as Joe Masterson.

NOVEMBER 18, 1981 (EP. #4412)
Rachel admitted to Ada she is undecided about Mitch since Amanda is in Bay City. Sandy agreed to work with Mac at Cory Publishing and to cover Edward Black’s party for Brava. Sandy assured Mac that he is the father of Cecile’s child and is marrying her out of love, not obligation. Denny told Blaine to expect constantly shifting job responsibilities while working at Blackhawk. Cecile was thrilled when Mac told her that Sandy will be working with her during his executive training. Cecile asked Sally to take dictation for her. Mac called Alice, who tried to get out of going to Edward Black’s party. Despite Curtis’s warnings, Steve felt confident about reuniting with Alice and bringing Diana to Bay City. Rachel told Marianne that James’ work comes first before any relationships. Steve tried to convince James to come to his party where he plans to reveal his true identity. Mac was puzzled by a distracted Alice. Ada left to babysit Matthew after being unable to convince Rachel not to go to the party. Pat was amused by Brian, who brought her a corsage and flattered her with compliments. Steve spoke with Rachel and then was introduced to Marianne by James. Cecile commented to Sandy on James and Marianne being a happy couple. Jim thanked Steve for the CPA job offer. Liz was surprised when Steve mentioned that he already knows her. Steve and Denny praised Blaine on her preparations for the party. Rick wasn’t happy to see James and Marianne together. Denny interrupted Sally telling Jim and Liz about her being at the penthouse before. Mac took notice when Alice wanted to get away from Edward Black quickly. Steve told everyone he has an announcement to make. Steve revealed his true identity. Mac was stunned when he realized Alice knew about Steve all along. James told Marianne he is Steve’s son in name only. Mac left Steve and Alice alone. Alice agreed to talk to Steve. Marianne asked James if Steve is the reason he’s been unhappy lately. Mac interrupted as Steve was telling Alice that they have another chance to be together. Rachel told Steve that they both want what they can’t have.

NOVEMBER 19, 1981 (EP. #4413)
Alice reluctantly agreed to have lunch with Steve at the hospital. Cecile tried to get a stubborn Sandy to improve his work attire. Sandy comforted Cecile after accusing her of being a social climber and wishing she was less pregnant. Denny stood up to Steve regarding his various work assignments and convinced Steve to discuss legal matters with him. Sandy assured Cecile that he’s forgiven her for lying to James about their affair. Cecile told Sandy she’s afraid of losing the baby because she is unable to marry Sandy right now. Steve asked Quinn to call employment agencies to obtain candidates for Denny’s paralegal. Steve discussed the legalities of changing his name from Edward Black to Steve Frame with Denny. Alice told Mac she has lunch plans, but agreed to have dinner with him. Mac went over Sandy’s job responsibilities with him. Denny convinced Sally to talk to Steve about lightening Denny’s work load and giving him longer lunch breaks. After exchanging pleasantries, Steve warned Harry a strike would prove detrimental because of a penalty clause in the Bel Aire Towers contract. Sandy asked Brian to get the exact date Cecile’s divorce from James is final. Brian suggested Sandy have patience with his new job and relationship with Cecile. Steve professed his love for Alice, who became upset when Steve doubted her feelings for Mac. Steve advised Frankie to fire James, who has been late for work all week. Liz warned Sally not to try to get Cecile an interview with Steve. Jason informed Melissa that he isn’t working for the Blackhawk Project after all. Melissa agreed to stick by Jason. Alice assured Mac that she is marrying him for love and is over Steve. Denny questioned Quinn about Steve and her loyalty towards him. Jason and Melissa were pleased when business gradually picked up at the Connection. Sandy convinced Cecile to leave work and take time to relax. Cecile was jubilant over Sandy’s wedding plans.

Rachel enjoyed catching Ada cleaning the kitchen while listening to Glenn Miller. Ada reminded Rachel that Mitch is growing impatient waiting for her and Matthew to join him in San Francisco. Alice was amused when Steve came to deliver flowers for Sally, who was convalescing after Steve rescued her from a stalled elevator. Steve sheepishly admitted to Alice that he was frazzled because of his step-daughter Diana's impending arrival. Alice was speechless when Steve gave her a friendly kiss on the cheek before leaving the house. Mac agreed to consider Ada's suggestion that he allow Rachel to take Amanda to San Francisco during the holidays since Mitch is pressuring Rachel to leave Bay City. Steve decided to immerse himself in work to quell his irritation upon hearing from Quinn that Diana's flight had been delayed.
