SYNOPSES: NOVEMBER 1981

NOVEMBER 2, 1981 (EP. #4400)
Sandy convinced Cecile to go out for the evening with him. Doris left Rick alone to transcribe tapes of old cases, where Rick heard Jamie’s taped admission that he loves Marianne. Denny asked Steve whether it’s true that his real name is Steve Frame and that he is Jamie's father. Melissa accused Sandy of being blind. Rick told Jason that he wants to be alone. Melissa informed Sandy she refuses to approve of his relationship with Cecile. Steve admitted his true identity to Denny, but asked that Denny keep the information to himself. Rhonda asked Jerry on a dinner date after telling him not to worry about her brothers. Rick was evasive with Melissa about his reasons for wanting to get drunk. Curtis assured Steve that Denny will keep quiet about his true identity and recommended that Steve take action to get Alice back. Alice advised Marianne to only return to Rick if it’s for the right reasons. Jason called Blaine when Rick refused to stop drinking and let someone drive him home. As Melissa started singing, Cecile and Sandy agreed to go to her penthouse together. Jerry and Rhonda declared their love for each other. Jason told Blaine that he and Melissa tried to keep Rick from getting drunk. Jason and Blaine carried Rick out of the Connection. Sandy urged Cecile to make a doctor’s appointment. Blaine had difficulty tending to a drunk Rick, who passed out on the floor. After talking to Rachel asking for her silence about Steve’s identity, Curtis told Steve he’d hate to do business with Rachel. Denny advised Jerry not to let Rhonda’s family intimidate him. Marianne, who was upset that Rick didn’t show up at the hospital to talk, refused Alice’s offer to drive her home. Steve asked Curtis to arrange a meeting with Rachel. Alice agreed to meet Rachel at L’Auberge tomorrow.

NOVEMBER 3, 1981 (EP. #4401)
Steve ordered Curtis to find Rachel and arrange a meeting with her. Marianne told Alice that she doesn’t want to talk to Rick. Alice told Marianne that Rachel insists on seeing her. Mac was surprised to see Rachel when she came into his office. Rick was explaining to Kit that Jamie loves Marianne when Blaine entered the room. Marianne assured Alice that Rachel won’t come between her and Mac. Rachel informed Mac that she hasn’t left for San Francisco because of Amanda and being worried about Jamie. Mac promised to tell Rachel if he discovers anything about the Blackhawk Project. Blaine and Kit argued about Rick, who defended Blaine‘s actions. Curtis told Rachel that Steve would like to see her. Blaine and Rick shared kisses after she said nothing happened between them last night. Mac told Liz, Kit, Brian, Alice, Philip, and Doris that Blackhawk contributed half the funds needed for the drug rehabilitation center. Philip and Mac mentioned that very little information is known about the Blackhawk Project or Edward Black. Curtis brought Rachel into the penthouse where she met Steve. Mac asked Philip to research further when Philip wondered if Edward Black is an assumed name. Rick told Marianne that he doesn’t believe she and Jamie don’t love each other. Steve informed Rachel that he survived the helicopter crash, developed amnesia, and lapsed into a coma for seven months. Mac and Alice discussed plans for their honeymoon. Steve told Rachel that he had cosmetic surgery, fell in love with his nurse Pamela Strickland, and that he has a step-daughter named Diana. Rachel asked Steve why he returned to Bay City if he didn’t want anyone to know his identity. Joey and Kit made wedding plans. Alice remembered spending time with Steve. Steve let Rachel know he wants to reclaim Alice and Jamie as his family. Mac understood when Alice told him she has agreed to meet Rachel at L’Auberge later in the evening.

NOVEMBER 4, 1981 (EP. #4402)
Cecile told Sandy that she made a doctor’s appointment for next week. Sandy informed Cecile that he is going to Joey’s apartment to get Mac’s memoirs and the copy of the “Miriam Sanderson” chapter. Steve asked Curtis to discover Alice’s whereabouts and planned to meet her soon. Sally told Alice that she received a call from Rachel, who didn’t show up at L’Auberge last night. Cecile was puzzled when Sandy mentioned that he and Jamie have called an unofficial truce. Alice told Sally that she is going to the Lake Marie for the day to think. Mac called Alice and invited her over for dinner. Rhonda brought groceries over to Larry and Clarice’s apartment to see Jerry. Brooks urged Louise to accept Alice and her future marriage to Mac for Amanda’s sake. Steve told Curtis that he doesn’t know how long he can wait to see Alice. After speaking with Sandy, Mac realized that Jamie was telling the truth about there being a copy of the “Miriam Sanderson” chapter. Mac agreed with Sandy’s hopes that he and Jamie will work out their differences. Rhonda reluctantly agreed to Jerry’s suggestion that he meet her family. Steve wasn’t happy to hear that Denny couldn’t learn Alice’s whereabouts and ordered him to find Alice right away. Mac wondered to Brooks who took his memoirs from his safe and made a copy of the “Miriam Sanderson” chapter. Philip and Sandy discussed the missing photograph Sandy took at the warehouse and the Blackhawk Project. Sally told Denny that Alice went to the lake to think. Philip asked Sandy to research Blackhawk’s contribution to the drug rehabilitation center. Sally urged Cecile to tell Sandy that he’s the father of her child. Denny gave Alice’s whereabouts to Steve. Cecile destroyed mail from Jamie to Sandy, which contained the photograph of Edward Black. Jerry developed a headache after a confrontation with Ed Sadowski regarding Rhonda leaving town. Alice had flashbacks of Steve and Mac. Mac told Brooks and Louise that he’s the happiest man in the world right now. Alice came face to face with Steve.

NOVEMBER 5, 1981 (EP. #4403)
Larry, Clarice, and Cory arrived home from their vacation. Steve re-introduced himself to Alice. Alice refused to let Steve explain his long absence. Brooks and Louise disagreed on whether Alice will make as good a wife to Mac as Rachel. Mac received a call from Alice, who canceled their dinner date citing the flu. Larry and Clarice couldn’t cheer up a depressed Jerry. Steve revealed he’s using the assumed name Edward Black to Alice, who refused to meet with him and told him not to call her again. Denny interrogated Quinn about Steve and the Blackhawk Project. Denny figured that he would "score some points" by reuniting Steve and Alice. Clarice updated Denny on Leigh and frowned at his intentions to help Sally with schoolwork and finding a career. Steve and Curtis talked to Diana over the phone and planned to bring her to Bay City later. Curtis asked Steve where he stands with Alice. Larry urged Jerry to find someone new and to come over to the apartment anytime he likes. Steve assured Curtis that he will reconcile with Alice. Rachel told Steve it’s too late for him to be a father to Jamie. Alice lied to Jim that an old acquaintance is trying to get back in touch with her. Brooks and Louise poured over plans for the greenhouse. Mac asked Brooks to bring a cake and floral arrangement to Alice. Steve was confident with Curtis about landing the Bel Air Towers construction project. Steve asked Quinn to bring the construction crew home from Wyoming, since he wants Jamie back in Bay City. Brooks was surprised when Jim mentioned that Alice was feeling well. Larry and Clarice discussed how edgy Jerry seemed. Louise questioned Brooks, who lied to Mac about Alice being sick in bed. Jerry left shortly after arriving at the apartment where Larry and Clarice were carrying on.

NOVEMBER 6, 1981 (EP. #4404)
Frankie let Blue go home and told Jamie that the “big boss” wants to see him. Kit was frustrated with Joey, who was too rushed to commit to any of her wedding plans. Steve asked Quinn to send roses to Alice. Doris prepared Rick for his first presentation and advised Rick not to let his personal feelings interfere with his work in psychiatry. Alice confided in Doris about whether to keep a secret or not. Rick apologized to Blaine for drinking too much. Blaine told Rick she is sorry nothing happened between them the other night. Kit became angry when Rick assumed that Kit is afraid of making the same mistake twice by remarrying Joey. Jamie walked into the penthouse to find Steve grilling Curtis about some construction figures. Alice hypothesized to Kit that the wedding plans might remind Joey of the problems they had in the past. Jamie told Sandy that he doesn’t hold any grudges against Mac and never wants to see Cecile again. Jamie refused when Sandy wanted to renew their friendship. Alice agreed to have dinner with Mac. Sandy planned to talk to Cecile after Jamie revealed why he left her. Kit apologized to Joey for pressuring him about wedding plans. Joey suggested to Kit that they elope. Mac told Alice he always insisted on knowing the truth from Rachel, which hurt their marriage. Mac and Alice decided to set a wedding date once his divorce from Rachel is final. Sandy left to think after Cecile admitted to lying about the night Jamie left her. Mac and Alice danced together. Joey and Kit kissed while looking over places to go and elope. Cecile cried as Sandy walked out on her.

NOVEMBER 9, 1981 (EP. #4405)
Larry called Jerry to remind him that he’s late for work. Joey showed Marianne pamphlets for his and Kit’s honeymoon. Cecile and Sally were going over cover stories for Brava when Cecile received a call from Dr. Christopher. Dr. Christopher wanted to put Cecile on pre-natal vitamins and a diet program. While Pat was on the phone, Alice remembered coming face to face with Steve. Alice told Pat she doesn’t plan to tell Mac that Steve is alive. Mac asked Liz to arrange a meeting between him and Philip. Denny offered Jim a job as CPA for the Blackhawk Project. Joey consulted with a travel agent on a honeymoon spot. Jerry told Larry he doesn’t remember buying groceries. Mac informed Philip that, if Brian tells him the offer is reasonable, he will sell the Daily Ledger. Sandy told Melissa about his conversations with Jamie and Cecile. Sally told Clarice that she and Leigh have agreed to break their engagement, but still go steady. Clarice was surprised to hear that Sally is going out to dinner with Denny. Philip told Pat that he’s no longer working for the Daily Ledger and is thinking of leaving town. Mac asked Sandy to act as liaison for the Daily Ledger’s change in ownership. Sandy forgave Cecile for lying to him. Cecile told Sandy that she’s pregnant with his child. Kit was thrilled with Joey’s suggestion that they get married and go skiing in Switzerland. Jerry brought over a bear for Cory and referred to himself as the boy’s father, which surprised Clarice. Denny showed Steve’s penthouse to Sally, where they kissed. Larry suggested he and Clarice give the bear that Jerry brought over to their new baby. Joey and Kit practiced skiing.

Note: Last appearance of Ray Liotta as Joey Perrini.

NOVEMBER 10, 1981 (EP. #4406)
James was puzzled when Rachel offered to talk to him after James has his meeting with Edward Black. Kit told Jerry that she and Joey have set a wedding date. Jerry tried to make a phone call, then locked up Kit’s apartment and broke into it shortly afterwards. Louise told Rachel that Alice canceled dinner plans with Mac because she was supposedly ill, which turned out not to be true. Brooks warned Louise not to interfere in Mac, Alice, or Rachel’s lives. Jerry called Joey suggesting he change the locks to Kit’s apartment since he was able to break into it so easily. Jerry lost his temper with Larry over a work assignment. Philip urged Sandy to pursue a journalistic career and to make sure he truly wants to marry Cecile. In front of Melissa, Jerry lambasted Larry for constantly worrying about Clarice and her breathy caller. Steve and Curtis discussed Alice and the bid for the Bel Aire Towers project, which Steve had Quinn deliver. James arrived at the penthouse to meet Edward Black. Louise didn’t seem to care about any of Alice’s plans and refused to give her a recipe of one of Mac’s favorite meals. James was put off by all of Edward’s questions about his father and family, but eventually opened up and realized that Edward is Steve Frame. James heard Steve’s explanations but rejected him as his father and told him to forget he ever had a son. James accused Rachel of keeping secrets and of being a hypocrite. Clarice stood up to her breathy caller. James laid into Doris and paid her off for his sessions. Doris gave the money to Rick to give back to James. James told Blue that he is starting a novel about Bay City hypocrisy called “A View Of The Bay.” Melissa called Marianne about James’ drinking. Larry was pleased with Clarice for standing up to her breathy caller. A drunk James burned his manuscript and talked cryptically to Marianne about a new novel he's going to write.

Note: Last appearance of Bradley Bliss as Kit Halloway.

NOVEMBER 11, 1981 (EP. #4407)
James resented Marianne’s attempts to pamper him and accusations that he falls apart whenever things go wrong. Larry called Jerry, who advised he wasn’t feeling well enough to come to work. The breathy caller phoned Clarice to say the time has come for the two of them to get together. Pat urged James to continue writing when James mentioned he destroyed his original manuscript. Ada told Clarice that James destroyed his novel. Ada suggested that Marianne leave James alone for a while. Philip said goodbye to Brian, who complimented his work at the Daily Ledger, and left a note for Pat. Rick advised Marianne to steer clear of James and to get him back to see Doris. Clarice told Larry not to worry about her so much. Clarice told Ada that she’s not going to tell Larry that she received another breathy phone call. Clarice tried to call Jerry to no avail. James agreed to renew his friendship with Sandy and asked to be alone. A shadowy figure broke into Larry and Clarice’s apartment. Cecile apologized to James for lying to him about having an affair with Sandy and admitted to being pregnant. Cecile asked James not ruin the lives of Sandy and her unborn child by revealing that Cecile drugged him. Clarice’s voyeur laid on Larry and Clarice’s bed. James cried on Blaine’s shoulders after Blaine suggested James see Rick or Doris again about his problems. Ada refused to let Clarice take a cab home. Clarice’s voyeur stared at a picture of Larry, Clarice, and Cory, then took a dress out of the closet and left it on the floor. Pat agreed to go out to dinner with Brian. Clarice received a call from Larry, who was let out of work early. Clarice’s voyeur watched as Ada left Clarice alone at her apartment. Larry had car trouble. Clarice’s voyeur attacked Clarice from behind and forced her onto the bed. Larry was able to get his car started. Clarice recognized her voyeur as Jerry.

Note: Last appearance of Robert Gentry as Philip Lyons.

NOVEMBER 12, 1981 (EP. #4408)
Clarice recognized her voyeur as Jerry, who escaped the apartment. Clarice tried to call Larry, but couldn’t tell the police what happened. Larry was shocked when Clarice told him that her caller was Jerry and that she had been raped. Rick agreed to drive Blaine to Larry and Clarice’s apartment after Larry called. Larry urged Clarice to see a doctor and planned to make Jerry suffer for what he did. Jerry had drinks at the Connection while talking to Jason and Melissa. Larry refused to listen to Rick, who tried to explain Jerry’s possible motivations for raping Clarice. Rick, Blaine, and Clarice couldn’t convince Larry to stay home and let the police handle the situation. Denny griped about overwork to Quinn, who suggested Denny find his own place within the Blackhawk organization. Jason was put off by Jerry’s compliments about Melissa’s looks, but told Jerry to cheer up when he mentioned Rhonda. Jerry lost his temper over Jason and Melissa’s plans to revamp the Connection to attract a younger crowd. Larry broke into Jerry’s apartment. Rick tried to calm down Clarice and asked Blaine to call the police to tell them that Larry is looking for Jerry. Captain Petroni ordered Larry to come back to the precinct. Captain Petroni asked Ed Sadowski and Officer Miller to search for Jerry and to handle Larry with caution. Blaine checked on Cory for Clarice. Clarice received a phone call from Larry, who vowed to get Jerry. Rick called Doris after giving Clarice a sedative. Larry refused to cooperate with Captain Petroni. Jerry became abusive towards customers, prompting Jason to call the police. Larry overheard Captain Petroni announce that Jerry is at the Connection. Jerry was offering Denny a drink when Larry arrived at the Connection. Jerry was genuinely surprised by Larry’s accusations. Denny managed to restrain Larry from shooting Jerry until he could be arrested by Ed and his partner. Rick told Blaine that Doris told him he handled the situation with Clarice properly. Captain Petroni told Jerry he’s being booked for rape and ordered Larry to go home to Clarice.

NOVEMBER 13, 1981 (EP. #4409)
Larry tried to comfort Clarice, who dreaded facing Jerry during a police lineup. Denny was telling Steve, Quinn, and Curtis about Clarice’s rape when Steve received a call from the Bel Aire Towers Project. Larry told Ada that Clarice is certain that Jerry was her rapist and asked for advice on how to handle the situation. Steve landed the Bel Aire Towers construction project and asked Quinn to arrange a meeting between him and Blaine. Captain Petroni and Rick were shocked when Jerry attacked Rick, who obtained a sample of Jerry’s blood for evidence. Clarice refused to let Larry blame himself for the rape and for losing control at the Connection. Larry and Clarice agreed to band together. Rick and Blaine comforted each other about nightmares and Clarice’s rape. Doris gave Rick lab results, which proved that Jerry raped Clarice. Doris suggested Rick have Captain Petroni bring Jerry over to the hospital so they could run some tests. Curtis cautioned Steve on bringing Diana to Bay City. When Curtis wondered where Diana is going to live, Steve asked Denny to purchase Blaine’s house. Clarice identified Jerry as her rapist in a police lineup. Blaine admitted to once being married to Jerry and was surprised that Denny didn’t plan to come over to Larry and Clarice’s apartment later. Rick consulted with Doris over his frustrations about psychiatry. Blaine accepted Steve’s offers to purchase her house and have it redecorated. Steve hired Blaine to throw a party announcing the acquisition of the Bel Aire Towers construction project and to run public relations for Blackhawk. Jerry tried to plead his case to Larry and Clarice. Quinn wasn’t pleased with Blaine’s progress within the Blackhawk organization. Captain Petroni told Jerry he’s being sent to the hospital for some physical and mental tests to be run. Jerry called Brian and asked him to come to the hospital.

Note: Diana Frame’s age is revealed to be 16.

NOVEMBER 16, 1981 (EP. #4410)
Marianne kept knocking on James’ door despite him yelling to go away. Cecile was maligning Pat’s choice of a Brava article to Sally when Dr. Kristopher called. Cecile set up an appointment with Dr. Kristopher, who wanted the father of her child present. Sally liked Cecile’s idea of eloping with Sandy. James didn’t appreciate Marianne fussing over him. James told Marianne that his novel will cure what is bothering him. Liz gave manuscripts to Mac, who consulted with Pat about Sandy assuming James’ former job responsibilities. Mac appointed Brian as chief legal counsel and told him he plans to groom Sandy for the publishing business. Pat advised Marianne to concentrate on her feelings for Rick and to stay away from James. Mac asked Liz to call Louise, who disagrees with Alice on redecorating plans for the Cory estate. Mac gave his blessing when Sandy told him that Cecile is pregnant. Steve asked Quinn to arrange a meeting between him and Harry Shea at Tallboys. Pat told Brian that she wants to be courted. Rachel told Ada she is going to a party at Blackhawk instead of dinner at Clarice's. Steve had lunch with James in an effort to get to know him better and to offer James an executive position at Blackhawk. After arguing over a Brava article, Cecile suggested Pat do market research and sales figures per Mac's idea. Pat and Alice eyed each other knowingly when Mac decided to accept an invitation for a party hosted by Edward Black. James informed Rachel that he refused Steve’s job offer. Rachel was offended by James’ note-taking when she mentioned her past relationship with Steve. Cecile was excited with Sandy’s suggestion that they have a Christmas wedding. Alice told Steve that she loves Mac and assured him that Mac won’t be threatened by his true identity. Alice returned a ring Steve gave to her. Rachel led Steve on a tour of the art gallery. A distracted Alice asked to leave Tallboys early after Mac and Alice settled on a spring wedding date. Rachel agreed to consider Steve’s commission to create a sculpture for the Bel Aire Towers

Note: First appearance of Edward Power as Harry Shea.

NOVEMBER 17, 1981 (EP. #4411)
Blaine discussed the upcoming Blackhawk party and redecorating her house for Diana with Denny. Jerry had to be escorted out of Rick’s office after having flashbacks of raping Clarice and going into a schizophrenic fit. Clarice got upset over being unable to work on Blaine’s hair. Blaine told Ada about getting hired at Blackhawk. Rick advised Dr. Emily Cole that Jerry attacked him. Curtis suggested Denny carve his own niche within the organization when Denny griped about overwork. Sandy agreed to have dinner at L’Auberge with Cecile so they could talk. Joe Masterson tried to convince Harry to put some muscle into the union negotiations. Clarice told Denny that he stifles his emotions and frowned when Denny mentioned he’s taking Sally to Edward Black’s party. Rick suggested that Blaine get Clarice involved in the Blackhawk party to keep her mind occupied. Rick told Blaine he no longer wants to see her as his patient and agreed to accompany Blaine to the Blackhawk party. Rick and Dr. Emily Cole convinced Clarice to set up an appointment with Doris. Harry and Denny arranged a meeting over the phone. Clarice agreed to help Blaine with the party. Jerry gave Dr. Emily Cole and Rick permission to do a CAT scan on him. Clarice spoke with a caterer and had Larry put Cory to bed. An argument ensued when Larry accused Clarice of leading Jerry on. Cecile confessed to Sandy that she kept her pregnancy a secret because she was afraid of losing him. Joe Masterson told Denny that Harry is old-fashioned and talked cryptically about mutual agreements. Larry and Clarice comforted each other.

Note: First appearance of Barry Snider as Joe Masterson.

NOVEMBER 18, 1981 (EP. #4412)
Rachel admitted to Ada she doesn’t know what to do about Mitch since Amanda is in Bay City. Sandy agreed to work with Mac at Cory Publishing and to cover Edward Black’s party for Brava. Sandy assured Mac that he is the father of Cecile’s child and is marrying her out of love, not obligation. Denny told Blaine to expect constantly shifting job responsibilities while working at Blackhawk. Cecile was thrilled when Mac told her that Sandy will be working with her during his executive training. Cecile asked Sally to take dictation for her. Mac called Alice, who tried to get out of going to Edward Black’s party. Despite Curtis’s warnings, Steve felt confident about reuniting with Alice and bringing Diana to Bay City. Rachel told Marianne that James’ work comes first before any relationships. Steve tried to convince James to come to his party where he plans to reveal his true identity. Mac was puzzled by a distracted Alice. Ada left to babysit Matthew after being unable to convince Rachel not to go to the party. Pat was amused by Brian, who brought her a corsage and flattered her with compliments. Steve spoke with Rachel and then was introduced to Marianne by James. Cecile commented to Sandy on James and Marianne being a happy couple. Jim thanked Steve for the CPA job offer. Liz was surprised when Steve mentioned that he already knows her. Steve and Denny praised Blaine on her preparations for the party. Rick wasn’t happy to see James and Marianne together. Denny interrupted Sally telling Jim and Liz about her being at the penthouse before. Mac took notice when Alice wanted to get away from Edward Black quickly. Steve told everyone he has an announcement to make. Steve revealed his true identity. Mac was stunned when he realized Alice knew about Steve all along. James told Marianne he is Steve’s son in name only. Mac left Steve and Alice alone. Alice agreed to talk to Steve. Marianne asked James if Steve is the reason he’s been unhappy lately. Mac interrupted as Steve was telling Alice that they have another chance to be together. Rachel told Steve that they both want what they can’t have.

NOVEMBER 19, 1981 (EP. #4413)
Alice reluctantly agreed to have lunch with Steve at the hospital. Cecile tried to get Sandy to improve his work attire. Sandy comforted Cecile after accusing her of being a social climber and wishing she was less pregnant. Denny stood up to Steve regarding his various work assignments and convinced Steve to discuss legal matters with him. Sandy assured Cecile that he’s forgiven her for lying to James about their affair. Cecile told Sandy she’s afraid of losing the baby because she’s unable to marry Sandy right now. Steve asked Quinn to call employment agencies to obtain candidates for Denny’s paralegal. Steve discussed the legalities of changing his name from Edward Black to Steve Frame with Denny. Alice told Mac she has lunch plans, but agreed to have dinner with him. Mac went over Sandy’s job responsibilities with him. Denny convinced Sally to talk to Steve about lightening Denny’s work load and giving him longer lunches. After exchanging pleasantries, Steve warned Harry a strike would prove detrimental because of a penalty clause in the Bel Aire Towers contract. Sandy asked Brian to get the exact date Cecile’s divorce from James is final. Brian suggested Sandy have patience with his new job and relationship with Cecile. Steve professed his love for Alice, who became upset when Steve doubted her feelings for Mac. Steve advised Frankie to fire James, who has been late for work all week. Liz warned Sally not to try to get Cecile an interview with Steve. Jason informed Melissa that he isn’t working for the Blackhawk Project after all. Melissa agreed to stick by Jason. Alice assured Mac that she is marrying him for love and is over Steve. Denny questioned Quinn about Steve and her loyalty towards him. Jason and Melissa were pleased when business picked up at the Connection. Sandy convinced Cecile to leave work and relax. Cecile was jubilant over Sandy’s wedding plans.
