NBC HOST:
Hi. Welcome to the NBC.COM chat room on the web.
Tonight, we have a special guest here in our chat room:
ROBERT KELKER-KELLY
of NBC's "Another World."
We are extremely privileged to chat with Robert this evening.... he has to wake up at 3:00 AM tomorrow morning! What a committed actor and netizen!
NBC HOST:
Our question collection has begun so start sending ‘em in!
Before we begin this chat, here are a few background notes on our guest:
Robert Kelker-Kelly makes his debut as "Another World's" handsome and mysterious Bobby Reno in August 1996, after having played Sam Fowler on the series from 1987 to 1989. Kelker-Kelly played the popular role of Bo Brady on "Days of Our Lives" from 1992 to 1995 and won a 1994 Soap Opera Award as Outstanding Lead Actor. His other television credits include "Maybe This Time," "Touched by an Angel," "Hart to Hart," "Saturday's," "Miami Vice" and (as a host) the Daytime Emmy Awards telecast in 1995. He has appeared on stage in "Measure for Measure," "The Taming of the Shrew," "The Tempest," "Normal Heart," "Our Town," and "A Slice of Buffalo, A Piece of Paris." Kelker-Kelly was born in Cleveland and raised in Wichita. He is engaged to "Days of Our Lives" actress Miriam Parrish. Kelker-Kelly's birthday is April 18.
NBC HOST:
Well, enough of the preliminary information.....let's get chatting! We’ve just connected with Robert Kelker-Kelly. Welcome!
Robert Kelker-Kelly:
Hi everyone! Glad that we can join each other out here in cyberspace. Start sending your questions in!
NBC HOST:
Hi Robert! I think you're one of the sweetest actors around, and continue doing the excellent work! My question is: Do you enjoy this very bizzare ( but enjoyable) story line your character is going through
at this point? And also, would you say that you and your character are in some ways alike? Thanks a lot!!
Rosalie D'Agnillo
Montreal, Quebec (Canada)
Robert Kelker-Kelly:
Rosalie, yes I enjoy the story line. This storyline is not as bizarre as other storylines that I've been involved in. :) This story line is about love and letting go. I enjoy playing this story
line with Paul and Jensen. It's interesting to be in a trio with a dead guy.
Sure, we are similar in some ways. I wouldn't be a good actor if parts of me didn't come out.
NBC HOST:
You are an excellent actor. I first saw you as Bo on DOOL. I think this Bobby role is perfect for you. Please say yes to these questions...it would be a Christmas wish come true. [g] 1) Will Bobby 'meet' Ryan soon? 2) Will Bobby & Vicky get together?
Robert Kelker-Kelly:
I don't have the answer to either of these questions. I haven't read the script. I HOPE that Bobby and Vicky get together. I also hope that Bobby will get to meet Ryan soon. But, I honestly couldn't tell you . So, we'll see.
NBC HOST:
JFIDLERJLA on NBC.com: How's your engagement progressed with Miriam Parrish, you former "Days" cohort? Married yet?
Robert Kelker-Kelly:
We're getting married in June. We've found the bands and the reception site. All we need now is the church.
NBC HOST:
Margarita, from Toronto
Ciao Robert, I know who had to make the move from LA to New York, I was
just wondering which city you prefer living in, and if it was a difficult
adjustment for you. I was also wondering if you hang out with any of the
cast members. Your a pleasure to watch, Thank you!
Robert Kelker-Kelly:
I most definitely prefer New York. The work schedule doesn't really provide for that.
The time that I have off I spend either by studying, sleeping, or going to the gym.
NBC HOST:
ROBERT, HI. JUST WANTED TO KNOW WHAT YOUR FEELINGS OUR ON REJOINING THE CAST OF AW? DO YOU LIKE THE CHARACTER BETTER THAN "BO" ON DAYS. YOUR DOING A GREAT JOB!! HAVEN'T MISSED A DAY SINCE YOU STARTED. ANY CHANCE YOU WILL BE MAKING ANY PERSONAL APPEARANCES?
KIM FROM OHIO
Robert Kelker-Kelly:
I am enjoying the heck out of being a member of the cast. They are great people. And, they have been very kind to me.
As far as personal appearances, I've tried to cut back on them. This allows me to spend my weekends with Miriam. No offense! :-)
NBC HOST:
I love you as Bobby Reno. Do you like playing Bobby better than Sam Fowler on AW? Jackie Tomaino, Brookfield, CT
Robert Kelker-Kelly:
Sam Fowler was a wuss. Question how do you spell wuss? Bobby wears cowboy boots. Need I say more? :-)
NBC HOST:
MattAnnaFn@AOL.com First of all welcome back to Our World!!!!
With the swing of the axe again we find ourseves losing yet more of our Another World family...Can you tell us the mood at the studio in face of these changes and with the NEW regime?
Robert Kelker-Kelly:
I can't speak for my fellow castmates. I can only speak for myself. I have been around long enough to realize that people lose their jobs. This is not personal, it's just a fact of soap operas. And, ultimately what it comes down to is keeping the show on the air, keeping the people at the studio working and keeping the audience watching.
NBC HOST:
Once on a talk show you said you'd do anything if the price was right.
What's anything and what's your price?
Robert Kelker-Kelly:
I remember saying that. And at the time, I was single. ANYTHING is whatever Miriam wants. And the PRICE, I have already paid.
(Miriam is sitting here right next to me...don't get me in trouble )
NBC HOST:
How do you like working with Jensen Buchanan? You two seem to have just the right amount of chemistry between you.
Robert Kelker-Kelly:
Working with Jensen is a blast. I consider myself a survivor of the soap actress abuse. Jensen is the remedy and I am so grateful to be working with her!!!!
NBC HOST:
I first want to say how much I enjoyed you on DAYS and enjoy you even
more on AW! Do you have any plans for any stage work possibly B'way?
I would love to see you in something serious like the son in the
Seagull! Thanks for the all the enjoyment over the years watching
you on daytime. Phil from San Francisco
Robert Kelker-Kelly:
I would love to do anything on stage...but with my time constraints, I am unable to do so. Besides that fact, I do a Chekhov play everyday.
NBC HOST:
When did you get your big break into acting?
Michelle
Jackson, Ohio
Robert Kelker-Kelly:
The first time I had ever lied to my father and it worked. LOL!
NBC HOST:
Michele;Orlando: Does your character as Bobby simulate your life in any way? Does it feel like the character you played in Days of Our Lves, Bo Brady.
Robert Kelker-Kelly:
Yeah, of course it does. The feelings are the same--they're my feelings. And no, it does not feel like Bo Brady. Bo Brady was as whipped as they come.
NBC HOST:
Hi Robert, this is Kat from Bakersfield, California. I have been following your work both in 'Days of Our Lives" and 'Another World'.
Just wanted to let you know that I admire your performances as you often touch my heart and make me laugh. I often wonder what
actors would do if they were not practicing their craft. How about you? What would you love to do besides acting. Thanks again for
for your work.
Robert Kelker-Kelly:
I'd love to teach acting, teach English. Or, be independently wealthy.
NBC HOST:
How does it feel to know that you can make my forty-three year old mother beg me to come on here and tell you that she thinks you are the hottest man on daytime? TV, North Dakota
Robert Kelker-Kelly:
Well, flattered, confused...… North Dakota, maybe you should move South? Get a little sun. But, I am flattered, most definitely
(Miriam is with me and I’m gonna get H--- for what I’m saying) :-)
NBC HOST:
Chris from Ohio
Do Miriam's parents approve of your engagement? What about that sexy
picture in the Soap Opera magazine?
Robert Kelker-Kelly:
MIRIAM: 1st part- YES, they approve of him very much.
ROBERT: 2nd part- Ever since the sexy picture came out, we're still trying to get the shotgun shells away from her dad ;-)
Host NBC:
Will Bobby Reno ever become a tad more sophicated? Or will he always
be a carpenter with cowboy boots? LoriAnn, New Jersey
Robert Kelker- Kelly:
You can take the BOY out of Texas, but you can't take TEXAS out of the boy. If they start putting him in silk trousers, I'll throw a s--- fit.
Host NBC:
Do you find it hard not to laugh when you are suppose to be hearing ryan and he isn't really suppose to be there??
Shawna, Sharon, PA
Robert Kelker-Kelly:
Paul Michael Valley is the funniest man I know. Watch for a scene coming up and you'll hear him in three different accents. It's so hard not to laugh. It's a stitch working with him.
Host NBC:
Is there any secrets that you can tell us about the new year and what is going to happen with Another World storylines?
Tracey Abbuhl
Bowling Green, Ohio
Robert Kelker-Kelly:
Look for the February Sweeps and watch for a very bad haircut.
Host NBC:
Robert, have you chatted on the internet often. Either this way or on your own?
Becky from Colorado.
Robert Kelker-Kelly:
Becky, yes, I spend a lot of time on the internet. I surf a lot. As a matter of fact, I got Dahlia and Judy also surfing the net.
Host NBC:
My name is Andre Thomas from Florida, I am formerly from Wichita, Kansas. I admire your work and wondered where you went to high school and college. Was it in Wichita?
Robert Kelker-Kelly:
Well, I got kicked out of Collegiate High School. And, I failed most of my classes at Wichita State and then left.
Host NBC:
Rima-in Folsom,Ca. Have you ever done any movies or do you intend do? I think you are a talented actor and wish you and Miriam a great and long life together.
Robert-Kelker-Kelly:
Yes, I have done some movies. None of which have been released. I would love to do 1, but it's not up to me. Thank you for the well wishes.
Host NBC:
Chantal Lalonde Martintown, Ontario
Hi Robert: It's great talking to you i have to admit i wish i was vicky! Anyways my question to is " When is Bobby going to kiss Vicky, by the time he gets to it I'll be dead and dating Ryan myself".
Hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and safe New Year. * Hugs and Kisses*
Robert Kelker-Kelly:
I haven't kissed her yet, but I saw a line for tomorrow that talks about the fact that I've been taking cold showers since I came to town. So, if that gives you any indication of where Bobby's at, he's right there with you.
Host NBC:
Merry Christmas, Robert! I was so happy to hear that you are engaged to the very pretty and extremely talented "Jamie" formerly (?) of Days. You are both a sheer delight (a term I have never used before) to watch. I'm LOVIN' your story line on AW now. It's the only part that can keep me away form my housework. Please tell me what Miriam is up to lately and if you know if you'll be stickin' around "Bay City" for a while. BTW - As characters go... Bobby's better than Bo anyday! Thanks, Shelley Bodine, Port Orange, FL
Robert Kelker-Kelly:
Thank you so much. It's so nice to get that kind of response. It makes the long hours worthwhile. Miriam is in New York taking classes and auditioning for theater. Every indication is that her career will be much more stellar than mine.
Whether or not I'll be in Bay City, I'd like to stay as long as the show lasts, as long as the audience lasts, and finally as long as the storyline dictates.
Host NBC:
THANK YOU for a great chat everyone. Although Robert didn’t get to answer any questions about the internet we, at NBC Interactive, enjoyed hearing Robert’s viewpoints about the internet and the freedom that should prevail on the net. In addition to his outstanding acting ability, he has the knowledge and experience of an extremely, computer-savvy individual.
Thank you, Robert for a fabulous chat session! :-)
Host NBC:
Once again, special thanks to ROBERT KELKER-KELLY for taking the time off his extremely busy schedule to chat with us.
