Studio at Yahoo! Chat. Tonight from the NBC Live Studio at Yahoo!

Mortimer of NBC's "Another World."
Daytime_NBC:
DAHLIA SALEM has just
arrived. As soon as she gets settled in, we'll begin chatting.
Unfortunately, Mark Mortimer is running a little late.
Good evening and welcome,
Dahlia!
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: hello to you all,
good evening
Danielle_Chic:
Hi Dahlia! If you had
to choose between Matt Cory and Nick Hudson in real life, who
would you choose?
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: Thats a tough
decision. They are both interesting characters, they are sweet
in their own way
Mindy-christie:
Who are your closest friends
on the set?
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: Amy Carlson, and
Allison McDonald and Mark Mortimer
Deathrockboy:
if you weren't an actor/actress
what would you like to be?
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: I think i'd like
to be a teacher or a children's counselor,
I love working with children.
Cutiegirl1:
i heard that doing soaps
you have to do one a day is that very hard or stressful?
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: It can be very
stressful at times because you don't have very much rehearsal but I'm used to the fast pace, I think!
Exocet1:
Dahlia: What background
does your name originate from?
NBC_stars:
Dahlia:An egyptian background, my parents were
both born in Egypt.
Sunscreem1:
Which do you prefer, the
stage or television as an actor?
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: also, my name
is a type of a flower...Both really, they are different, fulfilling in their own ways on stage, there's a thorough process, and a thorough process with rehearsals, etc. With television,
on the go...and you can discover things as you go along. I love both. If I really
had to choose, it would be theatre, the stage.
PSU_FAN144
How did you get into acting?
Was it a childhood dream?
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: Yes, it was actually. My mom, used to
tell me that id would impersonate numerous house guests and I don't remember
that. I used to imitate the voices of cartoon characters, like Speedy Gonzales. I love Speedy,
but it wasnt until Highschool, that I started to seriously pursue
it.
Luckyone1:
Do you have plans to act
in movies?
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: I hope so. If the opportunity
presents itself. I've worked on a few student films and, i heard that's
easier in a sense, since its easier to shoot two or three pages a day, as opposed to fifteen or twenty
DOGG87_87 I really admire how Sofia stands by Nick in such a difficult situation.
What makes her so strong?
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: Her faith and her love for
Nick.
Hunkyhunk:
what are your favorite
cereals?
NBC_stars:
Dahlia:Fruit Loops, Cookie
Crisps, IF they still make them...but I heard they do!!! Lots of sugar! If it has sugar
I'll take it.
Kalia16:
Does being a star have
any down falls?
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: Well, i don't consider
myself such a star but i basically have my privacy I haven't had anyawkward situations. Nothing I couldn't handle. Everyone is real supportive of the show, and enjoys Nick and Sofia. And that makes me happy.
Ciclid21:
Do either of you watch
any other soaps?
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: I used to watch General
Hospital in Highschool, on sick days only. I was a big Scorpio. I loved him! And I loved Finola
Hughes too.
5Latinkings5:
Who was you biggest role
model when you were growing up?
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: I'd say my mom. She is a very
strong, independent person and very understanding.
Roveson:
What do you like to do
with your spare time
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: I go to the theatre, I love playing
soccer, any athletic activity outdoors.
Daytime_NBC:

Dahlia: Hanging out in
Central Park, with friends, having a picnic. Watching Live Music
downtown
NBC_stars:
Mark: Good Evening.
David1:
Hello Mark and Dahlia,
I'm an aspiring soap star and wanted to ask if you guys had any
advice for me? David in Albany, NY
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: believe in yourself.
Take your time when you audition. Take a lot of risks. Trust your instincts.
NBC_stars:
Mark: Study. Theres a
business end too, understand the business, smile a lot. Like Dahlia said
you HAVE to take risks.
Cappy53:
What's the name of Nick's
dog and why haven't we seen him in a while?
NBC_stars:
Mark: My dog - Riley. He kept blowing
his lines. I've only seen him once
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: We miss Riley. Riley. We don't know where he is....Riley. Come Home!!!!!
Mindy-christie:
Hi, we are two huge fans
and its an honor to be speaking with you. To see Nick go through
is heart breaking and we just want to just jump through the tv
and strangle Toni. We were wondering if you could tell us what
will happen in the coming week?
NBC_stars:
Mark: I will strangle
Toni, just kidding. I wish I knew casue we are only a week and half ahead, and I'm in jail now We'll see if i get convicted...
Charcoalred:
a question for Mark.......how
did you ever get to be so good lookin?
NBC_stars:
Mark: Thanks Mom and Dad! I have no idea why
people think I am good looking
Embrighten1:
Iam in the drama club
at school, but sometimes i forget my lines. Is there anything
that could help me remember them better?
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: I find that taping
my lines - I tape them..and i play them over and over, til i get
it. On a tape recorder..and sometimes Mark and I run our lines over the phone when we want to
discuss our scenes
NBC_stars:
Mark: the more and more
you practice at memorization the easier it gets. You train your brain
for short term memory
Kt17:
HI DAHLIA!! Are you as
sweet and innocent as Sofia?
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: People tell me
that-if im rubbed the wrong me, i'm not as forgiving as Sofia but usually, i'm
a nice gal.
NBC_stars:
Mark and Dahlia: not story
line but day to day scenes
yes. And sometimes if there are certain expressions our character would say, we could add them
if we choose. For example,I love saying :"Hey Joey!"
MOLSTU:
Is hard to do love scenes
with each other?
NBC_stars:
Mark and Dahlia: We don't
Know!!! We haven't done any!
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: well, passionate,
heavy kissing. we're ok. we're comfortable.
NBC_stars:
Mark: she's got terrible
bedside manners,...just kidding. She's great!
JL61591:
Mark~When you first started
on the show, I noticed that you had a slight resemblance to the
character Tomas. Did any one ever mistake you for him in person?
NBC_stars:
Mark:Three days straight,
people called me Tomas, and said what a great haircut
Tomas! And I kept saying in my spanish accent :"Im a much better lover than Tomas!"
Cleveland18:
PLEASE ANSWER THIS FOR
ME, ARE YOU GUYS REGULAR INTERNET USERS??
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: No, I don't have
a computer
NBC_stars:
Mark: my mom is. Let's
all support her, she does it all for me.
Kilona:
do you know how a story
line is going to play out before you start (like the current one)
? Or do you just wing it?
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: Most of the time,
we have an idea. Personally, I prefer
to know as little as possible. I like to go with it.
NBC_stars:
Mark: the worse thing
you can do, is know what's going to happen the day before. You have to trust
the people around you. There is no way to know the foresight about
what is going to happen. You guys would
already know the outcome, before we could play it out
Gidgett14:
Mark and Dahlia, do you
pick out the outfits you wear on the set?
NBC_stars:
Mark and Dahlia: NO. The fashion
stylists pick it out

costars outside the set?

other, Tim Gibbs, Joe Barbara

Mark: I hang out with
Tim, also "Tibbs" and Tom
NBC_stars:
Mark: and Tom Eplin, and
Dahlia.
Danielle_Chic:
Mark: What does it feel
like to play an accused rapist? Is it hard for you to tackle
such a controversial issue?
NBC_stars:
Mark:Its very difficult.
I take it home with me everyday. Its take me a day
to recover sometimes from a really emotional scene. I like tackling
the issue. I love that.
Momoftrio:
is this the first "soap"
for both of you - or have you been on others?
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: yes
NBC_stars:
Mark: I did Guiding Light
Deathrockboy:
Mark, boxers or breifs?
Dahlia, which do you prefer?
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: I prefer boxers
NBC_stars:
Mark: Boxers on those warm
comfortable days...and briefs any other
of the time...actually they aren't called briefs, they are called
:bikini"
NBC_stars:
Dahlia and Mark: We'd like
you to know that we are having fun!!!! There's a mix of serious
and not-so-serious answers
Embrighten1:
Does your acting career
ever get in the way of your personal life?
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: no, not really.
NBC_stars:
Mark: yes! it would be
a lot easier if i were just a plumber. No one would care what
i do...
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: sometimes people
mistake me for Sidney Penny, and depending on what mood im in
i say :yeah, its me"
Exocet1:
Sofia: What is your favorite
musical?
NBC_stars:
Dahlia:Titanic! Titanic, right
now. Oh and RENT I
love Rent!!
Gidgett14:
What happens if you get
sick and can't come to work?
NBC_stars:
Mark: You don't get sick.
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: I got sick once.
I had severe stomach virus and the producer
at the time, fortunately, switched my scenes for the next day but of course
it was hard on everyone in production and cameramen. They were
good to me.
Lwinters1216:
Are either of you ticklish
and if so WHERE?
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: My stomach. My
armpits. and if you get my feet, I'll kill ya!
NBC_stars:
Mark: Above my knees.
that's where I'm ticklish. ut other places
give me the chills.
Meliz:
Dahlia: Do you get stage
fright. If so, how do you calm it?
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: I used to. And
how do i calm it? Stay off the caffeine. And, take deep
breaths.
Kill63:
Do you watch yourself
after filming the show?
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: I watch the air
show all the time.
NBC_stars:
Mark: Of course, you have
to watch yourself- you should be interested in how you and your
acting company does
One-kool-cat:
do you guys plane on doing
this the rest of your life?
NBC_stars:
Mark: acting yes, Another
World? I dont know. Things change. so
you never know.
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: I'd do this, as
long as I live.
_Scream:
How long do you have to
reherse a part???
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: usually, fifteen
minutes per scene.
NBC_stars:
Mark: we work on such
a fast pace, you train your skills to react that fast. The reaction time
of the script is the time you have to put on tape. Its very fast
paced.
NBC_stars:
Mark: The reaction time
of the script is the time you have to put on tape. Its very fast
paced.
Mindy-christie:
Mark, we heard you were
in the army. What was it like? and do you know Mark Valley who
was also in the Army?
NBC_stars:
Mark: yes, I was in the
army.

a secret. I have no idea who
Mark Valley is. Im sorry.
Hunkyhunk:
Dahlia----How much fan
mail do you get in a day?
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: It varies depending
on the developing storyline.
Meliz:
Do either of you work
out on a regular basis
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: I try to exercise
as much as I can. I don't work out
at a gym. I play tennis, soccer, and stuff like that. Outdoor
stuff.
NBC_stars:
Mark: Yes, I work out
five days a week. Cross train.
Gidgett14:
Would you recommend teenagers
to go into show business?
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: As long as one
is grounded and secure with themself they should take the risk
and try.
NBC_stars:
Mark: I'll let you know
in a few years. Right now I enjoy it.
NBC_stars:
Dahlia: Farewell to you
all...thank you! Enjoy the show!
NBC_stars:
Mark: Don't take everything
I say seriously...I love you all! Good night!
