Months later, when Vicky confronted
Jake with the rape, he denied it. Taking the offensive he blamed Vicky for all
the pain she had caused him and threatened to pay her back by raping
her. He had her pined down on her couch, but when he looked into her
eyes and saw the fear, he realized what he had been about to do. He left Vicky's, and when he
finally tracked Marley down that night, he told her that he was letting her go.
Jake and Vicky' ties went too far back.
They were able to patch up their relationship and became good friends
again, always there to see the other through a hard time. For the next few
years they largely ignored each other as each pursued his or her relationship.
In 1992, Jake and Vicky teamed up to
break up Grant and Paulina. Vicky couldn't stand the idea of them
together, and coerced Jake into some dirty deeds designed to split them up.
In 1994, Vicky dragged Jake into her plot to hide Kirkland from
Grant. Jake was a wreck having to keep a secret from his new wife, Paulina. But he couldn't say
no when Vicky begged him. Vicky swore that it was the last time she would ever need his
help.
In 1995, Jake got in trouble with a loan shark. He begged
Vicky for $75,000, which she refused at first. Then one night on the swings at Lassiter, Vicky
agreed to help him. Jake broke down in disbelief, telling Vicky that when it got right down to it, he
had always felt like he was at the party alone. Vicky wiped the snot trailing from his nose, and later
that night, they reaffirmed their deep love. Jake told her, "I love you." And Vicky replied, "I love
you. ... More." With that she gave him a tender kiss on the nose.
Jake was presumed dead that night,
and Vicky was devastated. She was a pall bearer during his funeral, where
she tenderly whispered, "Save me the swing next to yours, buddy," to his
coffin. She literally whooped for joy when she bumped into him at the playground in Lassiter.
