Nick knocked Remy down with his motorcycle one night in 1998. Feeling
guilty, and then sorry for her when he learned she had no family, he
took her under his wing. He found her employment, an apartment, and,
in short order, a love life, in the form of himself.
He was unsettled when he discovered she had been keeping tabs on him, but she was able to sweet-talk her way back into his good graces. He hit the roof when she finally admitted coming to town to swindle him as he was newly rich after the death of his father.
Remy's old friend Tito Banacek did his best to cut Nick out of the picture. Remy almost died when Tito tampered with the brakes on Nick's car. But it helped to get Tito out of the picture and make Nick realize he loved Remy.
