JANUARY 1, 1986: Pre-empted for Tournament of Roses Parade and Fiesta Bowl.
JANUARY 2, 1986 (EP. #5471)
Catlin was surprised that he was on the same flight to Chicago as Vicky. Neal forbade Fayez from taking inventory of the treasure, obscured the destination of a cargo plane to fool the police, and planned to ship the treasure to the Middle East as a ransom for $800 million dollars. Catlin told Vicky that he was headed to Chicago because Michael Garrison had sought employment there. Vicky was relieved when Catlin mentioned that the security videotapes had been erased by the burglars of the treasure. Peter was astonished when Brittany stated that she was ready for a commitment since Peter thought that they were enjoying a casual fling, which offended Brittany. Donna was unbothered upon learning from Vicky that Michael's whereabouts were traced to Chicago. Rachel left town to attend an art exhibition in Kansas City. Mac had more memory lapses. Brittany overheard Mac arrange a business meeting with Peter. Donna suspected that Brittany was the source of Peter's good mood. Vicky went to Jorgensen's Jewelers to get the jeweled necklace appraised. Jake got upset that Marley was returning the video camera she had gifted him so that Jake could keep the one that Vicky bought for him. Donna made selections among the photographs Ned had obtained to use against Jake. Rachel urged Mac to be nice to Neal. Neal followed Vicky to Chicago and failed to convince her to have dinner with him at a restaurant named Casa Conejo. Larry updated Marley on Catlin's investigation into Michael. Marley hoped that Michael would be lovable, approve of Jake and Marley getting married, and would fall in love with Donna again. Brittany told Peter that she felt vulnerable to getting hurt and needed space. Neal kissed Vicky after driving her home. Vicky hid the necklace in the novel, "War and Peace." Peter professed his love to Brittany. Catlin called to inform Marley that he was returning to Bay City with Michael.
JANUARY 3, 1986 (EP. #5472)
Donna tried to ease Ralph's doubts about posing as Michael. MJ expressed anger towards Edward for convincing Kathleen to move to California. Donna complained to Peter that Marley was hurting her by searching for Michael. When Donna insinuated that Brittany needed to spend time with Catlin and Peter, Peter insisted that he deserved to lead a life of his own. Marley worried about Donna and Vicky's reactions to seeing Michael. Neal pretended to talk to a mechanic while on the phone with Fayez because Mac was present. Marley assured Jake that she would not care should Michael disapprove of their romance. Neal fibbed to Mac that he came to Bay City because he wished to settle down. Edward gave Cass permission to sell the Chapin estate. Cass was stricken when Edward mentioned Kathleen moving with him to California because he wrongly assumed that Kathleen had already informed him. Catlin told Ralph about Marley and Vicky. Ralph became worried upon learning that Catlin had contacted Michael's actual family. Kathleen assured Edward that she was moving to California despite Cass and MJ's objections. Cass groused to Wallingford that Edward was trying to get Kathleen to become dependent on him by taking her out of town. Catlin introduced Ralph as Michael to Marley and Jake. Vicky was suspicious of Donna's claim that she had given her consent for Michael to come to Bay City. Neal panicked when Mac vowed to offer a large cash reward for information on the jewel theft and theorized that it had been an inside job. Marley suggested to "Michael" that the Garrisons plan a family reunion. MJ opined to Cass that Kathleen was not in love with Edward. Donna feared that Vicky would discover that Ralph was an imposter. Vicky quizzed Peter on Michael. Kathleen agreed to meet with Cass tomorrow. Donna stared at Ralph as Marley asked whether they recognized each other.
JANUARY 6, 1986 (EP. #5473)
Donna felt faint after greeting Ralph as Michael. Neal overheard Mac hypothesize that the antiquities were still in Bay City and arranged a meeting with an insurance investigator. Vicky balked at meeting her father. Bridget was aghast when Vicky expressed suspicions over Marley locating Michael so easily. Jake deemed it peculiar that Donna thanked Ralph for calling her from the airport and was surprised that he did not have any pressing commitments or other family. Neal tried to pump Mac about the insurance investigator's leads and was mystified by the way Mac was playing chess with him. Fayez informed Neal that he needed to check out a security breach. Lily's arrival interrupted Carter arguing with Thomasina because she had applied for a part-time job at the hospital without telling him. Neal searched for a missing guard named Ramirez in the bar at the waterfront. Marley persuaded Donna into inviting "Michael" to stay in the Love's gatehouse. Ralph was guilt-ridden over deceiving Marley while Donna feared that Jake would become suspicious of "Michael." Neal tried to flirt with Vicky in a bar. Ramirez was attacked in an alley by Neal. Jake worried that "Michael" was not genuinely interested in Marley and would hurt her. Marley wished for "Michael" to give her away to Jake at their wedding. Thomasina confided to Lily that Carter was following in Grant's footsteps and exhausting himself by juggling a job and football practice. Jake told Marley that he intended to make his own fortune instead of relying on the Love family's money. Lily convinced Carter to apologize to Thomasina. Neal refused to let Fayez kill Ramirez. Lily sang "You Got a Friend" for Wallingford. Carter and Thomasina made amends. Donna ordered Ralph to put distance between himself and Marley and to be careful of Vicky. Vicky acted as though she was consumed with emotions while embracing "Michael" and Donna.
JANUARY 7, 1986 (EP. #5474)
Nancy declined Marley's lunch invitation. Mac came into the room as Liz had started talking to Peter about Mac acting strangely lately. Kathleen gazed at a photograph of herself and Cass while packing her belongings. Edward advised Kathleen not to avoid her innate sexuality. Wallingford told Lily about Kathleen's plans to leave Bay City. Donna admitted to Vicky that Ralph was an imposter and requested her help. Vicky was intrigued as Donna tried to discourage Ralph from having lunch with Marley at the Northwoods Inn. Peter did not enthuse over Mac's idea to publish books onto discs. Liz got worried when Mac momentarily forgot that Rachel was out of town and that Brittany worked for the Cory family. Kathleen avoided taking a phone call from Cass, who opined that Kathleen was running away from her problems. Lily taxed Kathleen with her impending trip. Liz was surprised that Peter was getting serious about Brittany. Peter urged Liz to steer clear of Mac. Marley met Ellie and Norman Garrison at lunch with "Michael." Donna recruited Peter to create a diversion when Jake requested to hear more stories about Michael's life. Kathleen insisted to Lily that Edward could handle her handicapped condition, unlike Cass. Donna refused when "Michael" suggested that they go on a skiing trip. Nancy returned from job hunting and turned off the alarm so that Chris could sleep more. Lily urged Kathleen to talk frankly with Cass and to quit dwelling on being stuck in a wheelchair. When Mac caught Liz on the phone telling Rachel about his strange behavior, Mac became furious and fired Liz. Donna lectured Ralph for bonding with Marley instead of disappointing her. Donna ordered Ralph to write a goodbye note to Marley. While posing as Marley, Vicky asked for Wallingford's help in researching the Syndicate and fencing for a term paper. Lily answered a call from Cass and gave the phone to Kathleen.
JANUARY 8, 1986 (EP. #5475)
Chris was furious that Nancy had made him late for work by turning off his alarm clock. Donna instructed Ralph to write a goodbye note to Vicky and Marley. Neal approved of Mac's idea to publish books onto discs. Mac mistook Neal for Alfred and raged about him wasting his talent and intellect, which concerned Neal. Ralph extended his stay in Bay City when Marley became distraught over him leaving town. Wallingford took Vicky (as Marley) to the Pig Whistle. Nancy confessed to Neal that she was too occupied with her own personal issues to notice Mac's strange behavior. Neal advised Nancy to match Chris's maturity, sense of responsibility, and independence. Nancy resumed searching for a job. Sally planned to confront Mac for firing Liz. Lou Hunt gave Vicky his business card because he had refused to appraise her jewels without examining them first. Marley explained the differences between herself and Vicky to "Michael." Donna was miffed that Ralph had extended his stay in Bay City. Wallingford and Vicky (as Marley) objected to Nancy seeking employment at the Pig Whistle. Ralph was appalled that Donna had intended for him to hurt Marley by leaving town abruptly and not keeping in touch with her. Jake was suspicious that "Michael" was able to get out of work so easily to see Marley. Unaware that Vicky was posing as Marley, Nancy boasted about Marley taking Jake away from Vicky and Neal confessed that he was in love with Vicky. Thanks to Sally, Mac apologized to Liz and rehired her. Donna requested Vicky's help in keeping Ralph under control and getting him out of town. Vicky acted friendly towards Ralph. Bridget warned Vicky not to scheme on behalf of the Love family. Jake became suspicious when Ellie expressed doubts about Ralph being Michael. Vicky asked Neal to take her to the Red Lion. Mac failed to reach Rachel because he had dialed incorrect phone numbers.
JANUARY 9, 1986 (EP. #5476)
Cass prepared to have dinner with Kathleen and reasoned that there was no point in escaping a potential death sentence without her. Zane and Felicia returned from the mountains. Mac played the stock market with abandon. Rachel played along as Mac flirted with her shamelessly, proposed marriage, suggested that they have children together, and thought that Amanda and Matthew were lovely names. Nancy confided her trouble with Chris to Neal. Neal was puzzled by Nancy's desire to "break in" a credit card she had received in the mail. Wallingford assured Cass that Kathleen loves him. Cass blamed himself for the obstacles that had kept him and Kathleen apart. Felicia was scared out of her wits by a skunk named Florette, who had bonded with Zane. While discussing Cass and Kathleen with Lily, Zane disparaged Edward while Felicia was optimistic that Cass's dinner with Kathleen would be successful. Kathleen admitted to MJ that she was purposely trying to hurt Cass so that he would abandon hopes that the two of them would reunite. Liz apologized to Rachel for overreacting towards Mac's strange behavior. Neal was intrigued when Mac mentioned that the insurance investigators know the whereabouts of the treasure. MJ offered Kathleen moral support. Mac raved to Neal about books. Kathleen asked MJ to ensure that Cass does not contact her in California and left with Edward. Felicia gushed about her hectic life to Lily. Nancy gifted Chris with a watch and bought a VCR, popcorn, and rented some movies for them to watch. Quinn and Lily agreed that they miss Grant. Cass vowed to MJ that he would follow Kathleen to California. Fayez informed Neal that Ramirez had accidentally been killed in a mine. Rachel was worried that Mac could not stand to be separated from her. Chris and Nancy became intimate while watching a movie. Kathleen thought of Cass while sitting in a plane with Edward.
JANUARY 10, 1986 (EP. #5477)
Neal confirmed his date with Vicky at the Red Lion. Peter told Rachel that he does not approve of Mac's idea to publish books onto computer discs, prompting Mac to accuse Peter of undermining him. Marley understood Jake's objections towards "Michael" being uprooted and they agreed that Peter should settle down and marry Brittany, and Donna could reunite with Michael so that she would stay out of their personal business. Neal opined that Vicky could cure his aggressive neuroticism. Brittany plotted to get Peter to propose marriage to her. Rachel got Mac to apologize to Peter and recognized the blue jar being an artifact that Nancy had brought from Egypt. A banker named Mr. Oates informed Donna and Vicky that the Love estate could not be saved and that Vicky could not access her trust fund. Vicky opined to Donna that Jake loved Marley and was not interested in money. Rachel asked Liz to come to the Cory estate so that Mac could work at home. Donna swallowed her pride and called Mac to request his help dealing with a business matter. Rachel tried to stop Mac from jogging to the Love mansion. Jake recruited Carter in proving that "Michael" was an imposter who is after the Love fortune. "Michael" was interested by Marley's suggestions that she use her trust fund to help him rebuild his business in Bay City, reignite his past romance with Donna, and live in the Cory gatehouse. Neal and Fayez took inventory. Bridget told Rachel and Liz that Mac never arrived at the Love estate. Brittany fibbed that she was broke because someone had stolen her purse to get Peter to come to the Green Lantern motel in Ogden. Vicky grabbed the jewels hidden in the novel, "War and Peace." Rachel and Liz found Mac in a park and brought him home. Carter and Jake gathered things from the newspaper morgue. Vicky ordered Lou Hunt to buy her jewels. Rachel found Mac on the ground due to taking a fall.
JANUARY 13, 1986 (EP. #5478)
Donna groused about Marley going skating and Vicky demanding money while she faced losing the Love estate. Brittany hid her purse in a suitcase and sobbed while expressing gratitude to Peter for coming to her motel room. A worried Rachel got in the way of paramedics, who decided to take Mac to the hospital. Vicky accepted Lou's offer to give her $500,000.00 for the jeweled necklace. Peter professed his feelings to Brittany, who acted helpless and stated that she felt safe with him. Brittany declined Peter's offer to pay her bill at the motel. Chris planned to perform medical tests on an exhausted Mac and insisted that Rachel stay away from him for a while. Peter vowed to take care of Brittany and help her to overcome fears. Donna tried to ignore her problems. Bridget received an envelope containing a key. Ada comforted Rachel while Nancy expressed confidence that Chris would save Mac. Brittany made remarks about having a view like the one at the Love mansion. Rachel advised Mac to make a full recovery before returning to work. Peter invited Brittany to stay at the Love mansion while the pipes in her apartment were being repaired. Peter had Brittany move into a guest room despite Donna's objections. Chris told Ada and Nancy that he was puzzled by Mac's condition and unsure of his prognosis. Rachel prevented Peter from discussing business with Mac. A banker showed Bridget a document that contained her signature for a safe deposit box, which held $500,000.00. Donna apologized to Peter for taking her frustrations over losing the Love estate out on him. Peter realized that Brittany's luggage was missing and found a goodbye note. Mac was moved to a private room. Brittany told Joyce that the father of her child would propose marriage to her soon. Per Brittany's plan, Peter found her at the hospital and assumed that Donna had caused her to flee. Chris was perplexed by Mac's blood tests.
JANUARY 14, 1986 (EP. #5479)
Donna felt the $500,000.00 in Bridget's safe deposit box was an answer to her prayers. Chris went to look at Grant's bloodwork and contacted a specialist due to having a hunch about Mac's condition. Neal made a clandestine phone call about potentially moving the location of the treasure. D.A. Martin informed Cass that he was prohibited from going to California and taunted Cass by theorizing that Kathleen was not in love with him, which caused Cass to blow a fuse. Donna decided against telling Peter about the money until she had paid off the Love estate. Bridget suspected that Vicky had obtained the $500,000.00 even though Vicky adamantly denied it. Felicia wished for Cass to walk her down the aisle, Zane wanted Wallingford to be his best man, and they both hoped that Kathleen would attend the wedding. Zane promised to fetch his sister, Annie, from Duluth because Felicia wished to make her a bridesmaid. The specialist refused to admit to Chris that there were similarities between Grant and Mac's medical cases. Donna had Marley and "Michael" look at photo albums so that she could privately ask Jake to keep Ralph from hurting Marley. Wallingford hypothesized that D.A. Martin held a vendetta against Cass. Zane and Wallingford schemed to find something incriminating on D.A. Martin and hoped that Cass would not jump bail. Donna and Marley debated on whether Michael or Mac had provided them with the money. Chris dodged Mac's efforts to be released from the hospital and performed blood tests on him. Donna reminded Ralph that their objective was to break up Jake and Marley and make Marley disillusioned by Michael. D.A. Martin refused to talk to Felicia. Cass sent a red toy biplane to Kathleen in Malibu. Mac started babbling about barns and little boys. Cass used an assumed name to book a plane flight to Los Angeles. Rachel told Chris about Mac's episodes of slipping into the past.
JANUARY 15, 1986 (EP. #5480)
Jake planned to discuss the possibility that "Michael" was an imposter with Larry and asked for Brittany's assistance. Cass struggled to pack his belongings and donned a disguise as he prepared to leave for California. Brittany agreed to observe "Michael" for Jake. Felicia and Wallingford were suspicious when Cass pretended to be sick. Wallingford predicted that a blizzard would cancel any plane flights. Kathleen struggled to write a screenplay while she thought of Cass's proposal. Brittany was dubious towards "Michael's" claim that he was not a good stableboy. Peter was wary of the $500,000.00 that had been in Bridget's safe deposit box. Ned and Donna arranged a meeting at Bill's Diner. Peter went to visit Mac at the hospital. Wallingford suspected that D.A. Martin had political ambitions. Brittany pointed out to Jake that "Michael" seemed ill-equipped to take care of horses. Felicia was nervous about meeting Zane's sister, Annie. Wallingford learned that D.A. Martin spent his lunches at a bordello named the "Mayfair Social Club." Larry told Jake and Carter that Michael had been a horse groomer. MJ told Kathleen that she preferred Malibu and police conventions over spending time at Le Soleil. Cass convinced an airline worker to allow him to board a plane without supplying identification by insisting that he was rushing to see his new bride. Donna instructed Ned to mail the incriminating photographs of Jake to her from Detroit. Jake obtained a sample of "Michael's" fingerprints from a drinking glass at Smiley's for Larry. Cass thought of romping in the snow with Kathleen. Brittany resisted Peter's requests for her to live at the Love estate and to trust him. Kathleen insisted that she did not want to talk about Cass and vowed that she would not return to Bay City. Cass sent a cooler full of snowballs to California for Kathleen. Felicia and Wallingford hoped to catch D.A. Martin at the "Mayfair Social Club."
JANUARY 16, 1986 (EP. #5481)
Wallingford was in agony while attempting to contact Zane and Felicia. Bridget and Jake disbelieved Vicky's claim that Nicole had supplied the $500,000.00 to the Loves. Neal and Fayez deduced that the theft of the missing jewels took place during the charity event of the Egyptian treasure. Felicia promised to prepare lunch for Zane once he returns from Duluth with Annie. Mac grew paranoid despite Chris's assurances that he was not suffering from Alzheimer's disease. Chris thought of his father as Rachel arrived with a basket lunch for Mac. Marley told Nancy about the Love estate being saved. Nancy warned Neal against getting involved with Vicky. Felicia and Wallingford went to the "Mayfair Social Club" in hopes of discrediting D.A. Martin. Bridget suspected that Vicky was still in love with Jake. Neal brought a takeout chicken dinner for himself and Vicky. Felicia lied to a madame about staying at the "Mayfair Social Club" because she was trapped in a loveless marriage. Mac went on a rampage over Rachel flouting the hospital's rules by sneaking food and champagne past the nurses, then sought comfort from Rachel and enjoyed the champagne. Vicky abruptly ended her evening with a discouraged Neal. Chris and Nancy read that the organization had demanded a ransom for the missing treasure in the newspaper. Neal and Nancy were incredulous that Chris suspected that the missing treasure remained in the United States. Bridget had faith that the police would apprehend the jewel thief. Jake talked to Maisie about marrying Marley and taking pictures at the charity event. Neal wished for the terrorists to be sent to prison and acted peculiar when Jake mentioned snapping pictures at the charity event. Mac raved about teenage mistresses, leading Chris to perform a brain scan to be performed on him. Nancy asked Chris whether Mac was showing symptoms of the same disease that had killed Frederick.
JANUARY 17, 1986 (EP. #5482)
Wallingford forced Felicia to leave her apartment in disarray so that they could get to the "Mayfair Social Club." Chris was evasive towards Nancy's inquiries into whether Mac would die and asked Thomasina to retrieve Frederick's blood report without telling Nancy about it. Dee learned that police officers were on their way to a convention in Los Angeles and tried to stop Cass from fleeing Bay City. An uptight and nervous Felicia covered when the madame expressed concerns about Wallingford sharing a room with her at the bordello. Kathleen confessed to Edward that she did not want to get romantically involved with Cass despite acknowledging that he had good qualities. Edward failed to persuade Kathleen and MJ into accompanying him to a location shoot in New Orleans. Cass's trip to California was temporarily postponed by police officers. Doctors were perplexed by Mac's illness. Chris ordered Mac to convalesce at home and compared his condition to that of Grant. Dr. Longo opined to Chris that Mac should be placed in a mental institution. Chaos ensued when D.A. Martin arrived during a staged police raid of the "Mayfair Social Club." Felicia and Wallingford were arrested after failing to convince authorities that they were investigating the bordello. Quinn mentioned a "lost and found object" while she and Chris compared notes on Grant and Mac's symptoms. Nancy consoled Chris, who became upset while thinking about Frederick's death. Nancy recalled the amphora once being at the Northwoods Inn. Felicia and Wallingford gave aliases while being arrested and trying to deal with television reporters who had arrived at the scene. Dee tried to dissuade Cass from traveling to Seattle. Chris warned Nancy not to upset Rachel by mentioning the amphora. Zane and Annie were shocked to see Felicia and Wallingford's arrest on television. Rachel reached for the blue jar after Quinn had mentioned it.
Notes: Reappearance of Mary Lynn Johnson as Annie Lindquist.
JANUARY 20, 1986 (EP. #5483)
Catlin and Jake were angry to learn that Ralph's fingerprints did not match Michael's records. Rachel and Quinn scoffed at Felicia's arrest. Sally failed to trace Cass's whereabouts. Donna ordered Ralph to disappoint Marley and leave town. Dr. Longo refused to see the similarities in Mac and Grant's conditions and removed Chris from Mac's medical case. Sally lent moral support to Rachel, who told Amanda and Matthew that Mac had been hospitalized. Rachel started choking from the tomb dust after opening the amphora. Annie noted that Zane and Felicia seemed well-suited for each other because they both sought adventures. Jake expressed disbelief to Catlin that Donna hired an imposter to trick Marley. Rachel told Nancy that she had thrown the dust from the amphora into a wastebasket and was coming to the hospital with the jar placed into a plastic bag. Chris tried to reassure a distraught Nancy, who made sure that the wastebasket was safely away from the children. Nancy went to retrieve Frederick's diary for Chris. Ralph was thrilled when Marley offered to financially help him start his own business in Bay City. Jake arranged a meeting with Ralph under the pretense of discussing a surprise he had planned for Marley. Rachel became distressed when Mac had another episode of strange behavior while doctors tended to him. Catlin and Sally managed to be civil towards each other until Catlin became upset because Sally tried to get out of attending another session with a marriage counselor. Zane and Felicia agreed that Annie should visit Peter. Felicia left to tape her talk show. Carter advised Jake not to lose his temper with Ralph. Zane did not share Annie's contentions that the Lindquists were loners and set in their ways. Jake told Ralph that he wished to kill him. Rachel informed Sally that Mac's condition had improved slightly. Sally rushed to Rachel's side after she had suffered from a dizzy spell and fainted.
JANUARY 21, 1986 (EP. #5484)
Dee confessed to Felicia that she had helped Cass escape. Chris had Rachel admitted into the hospital, promised to get her a room across the hall from Mac, and requested blood samples from Rachel and Sally. Thomasina labeled the amphora jar as "hands off" as Chris hypothesized that Rachel could have the same disease as Mac. Felicia told a guilt-ridden Dee that they must get Cass back to Bay City. In an isolated cabin in Seattle, Cass fantasized about being there for his and Kathleen's honeymoon and kissing her as she regained the ability to walk. Ralph admitted to Jake that he had impersonated Michael without revealing Donna's involvement. Jake ordered Ralph not to see Marley and to leave town immediately. Chris tried to reassure Nancy that she was not responsible for Mac and Rachel's conditions. Nancy began reading Frederick's diary while Chris vowed to prove to other doctors that Mac and Rachel's diagnosis was tomb dust disease. Jake informed Bridget that he would be stopping at the Love mansion to see Marley. Ralph requested Marley's assistance in purchasing a store, though Ralph was vague about the nature of the business opportunity. Chris told Rachel about his preliminary diagnoses. Ralph absconded with silverware at the Love estate after Marley had given him $5,000.00. Carter and Thomasina comforted each other over Ralph deceiving Marley. Ralph fled town after Donna paid him for services rendered. Dr. Longo remonstrated Chris for not transferring Mac to the psychiatric ward, but agreed to let Chris perform tests on Mac and Rachel. Felicia, Wallingford, and Dee booked appointments for Cass to make it appear as though he was in town. Marley was devastated that Ralph had left town. Wallingford assumed Cass's voice while taking a call from D.A. Martin. In Malibu, Kathleen advised Cass that he must return to Bay City as MJ arrived unexpectedly to retrieve her car keys.
JANUARY 22, 1986 (EP. #5485)
As Cass hid, Kathleen fibbed to MJ that the pair of glasses she had spotted belonged to Edward. Rachel asked Chris whether there was a cure for the tomb dust disease. Kathleen insisted that Cass return to Bay City. Chris told Rachel and Ada that the tomb dust had oxygenated significantly. Rachel forbade it when Chris mentioned that Dr. Longo wanted Mac transferred to the hospital's psychiatric ward. When Jake confronted Donna for hiring Ralph to impersonate Michael, Donna was surprised and distressed for Marley's welfare, tried to console Marley, and flipped upon learning from Bridget that the silverware was missing. Ada got Rachel to admit that she may be suffering from the same illness as Mac. Cass stormed out after arguing with Kathleen about not going back to Bay City without her. Donna laid into Marley for giving Ralph the $5,000.00 but decided against pressing charges against Ralph for stealing the silverware. Marley insisted on staying with Donna instead of spending time alone with Jake. Rachel tried to be optimistic for Ada's sake, expressed faith in Chris, and decided to name Ada as Amanda and Matthew's guardian. Dr. Longo made life difficult for Chris. Kathleen was distraught while talking to Wallingford over the phone until she noticed Cass playing volleyball on the beach. Ellie told Marley that Michael would be resurfacing. MJ's arrival with policemen from Bay City prevented Kathleen from making a plane reservation for Cass. Chris was unable to locate Frederick's autopsy. Rachel kept quiet to Mac about being ill. Marley filed a complaint against a company called New Resources for acquiring several businesses in Bay City. Nancy came to see Chris with the diary. Vicky threatened to expose Donna's involvement with Ralph unless she quit making Marley miserable. Michael was surprised to learn that the person who filed a complaint against New Resources had the surname, Love.
Notes: First appearance of Kale Browne as Michael Hudson.
JANUARY 23, 1986 (EP. #5486)
Vicky was suspicious of Neal, who came into Smiley's wearing a trench coat. Maisie mentioned Jake's videotape of the charity event to Neal and Vicky. Chris placed an emergency call to London to request assistance from Dr. Jonas Biggs, who had treated Frederick before his death. Jake was suspicious when Vicky claimed she was interested in watching his videotape of the charity event to confirm whether Neal had attended it with another woman and reiterated that Nicole had provided the $500,000.00 to the family. Brittany quizzed an evasive Peter over his intentions for her and insisted that she was no longer interested in Catlin. Brittany gazed at herself in the mirror while lamenting that she would have to seek other options should she fail to snag Peter by spring. Marley promised to help Jake locate his younger brother, who had run away from home. Dr. Pam Bondi agreed to skirt hospital rules and run more blood tests on Mac and Rachel. Nancy and Thomasina feared that Chris was overstepping his authority at the hospital. Donna denied interest in becoming friends with Brittany, being overprotective of her daughters, and did not believe that Brittany loved Peter. Rachel decided to consult a lawyer for the children. Chris made plans to fly to England and check out Dr. Biggs' serum. Fayez secretly plotted against Neal and defied orders by going into town. Peter jumped to Brittany's defense when Donna groused about her blackmail attempts. Donna was horrified when Peter found the fabricated and incriminating photographs of Jake and tossed them into the fireplace. Brittany told Joyce that she had yet to reveal her pregnancy to the father of her child. Peter allowed Brittany to hire someone to renovate the Love stables. Nancy refused to accept Vicky's sympathy over Mac and Rachel's health issues. Jake watched Vicky on the videotape of the charity event. Nancy spotted Fayez and vowed that he must be stopped.
JANUARY 24, 1986 (EP. #5487)
Nancy instructed Vicky to catch Fayez while she called the police. Cass ignored Kathleen's warnings that he could be convicted and jailed for life because he had fled town and suggested that they go to Seattle together. Michael dismissed the possibility that Marley was Donna's daughter by hypothesizing that she would have assumed her father's name and recalled his past romance with Donna until a secretary interrupted his reverie. Peter did not share Donna's optimism that they may be able to gain access to Carl's bank account in Switzerland. Nancy was impressed despite herself when Vicky provided a detailed description of the van that Fayez was driving to the authorities. Nancy hoped the incident would help Cass's case while Vicky deduced that the treasure could still be in town. Zane tried to comfort Felicia, who worried about Cass and disparaged D.A. Martin. MJ was suspicious that Kathleen did not seem averse to being alone. D.A. Martin doubted MJ's claim that she had not seen Cass in California. Michael fired an employee named Ramsay Sterling. Neal professed his innocence while dodging Vicky's inquiries into the location of the treasure. Dee told Felicia about Nancy and Vicky spotting Fayez. Felicia feared that the news might cause trouble for Cass while he was in California. Suspecting that Cass was in California, MJ hinted that Kathleen should convince Cass to return to Bay City in hopes of salvaging his defense. Maisie told Neal about Fayez. Neal fled after spotting a man lighting a cigarette in the window of Smiley's. Vicky followed Neal. Kathleen lamented to Cass that she was a burden by being stuck in a wheelchair. Donna made plans to fly to Geneva. Michael recalled Donna fearing that her father would catch them in the stables together. Michael decided to fly to Bay City using his private jet. Kathleen spied a cop watching the house as she and Cass were about to leave the premises.
JANUARY 27, 1986 (EP. #5488)
Chris informed Rachel that he had requested Dr. Biggs' expertise in finding a cure for the tomb dust disease. When a police officer arrived to search the house, Kathleen covered for Cass by claiming that the jacket that the cop had spotted belonged to MJ. Kathleen agreed to go to Seattle with Cass. Mac made a bad impression on a psychiatrist named Dr. McIntyre. Nancy sent Rachel to bed. Vicky did not appreciate Peter's sarcastic response to her inquiry into whether Donna would be able to get back the money that Carl had stolen from the family. Peter griped to Vicky about not being kept abreast of the family's activities. Vicky counted on Neal for further income. Neal lectured Fayez for going into town and ordered that the landing site must be cleared by tomorrow. Peter groused about Carl's effect on people's lives beyond the grave while being puzzled by Mac's sickness. Chris and Dr. Biggs used a computer program to test the serum that may cure Mac and Rachel. A real estate agent named Elvira assumed that Cass and Kathleen were spending their honeymoon in the house. Neal took Nancy out to lunch. Brittany sang Peter's praises for being genuinely concerned for Mac's welfare and refusing to take advantage of the situation for personal gain. Peter stormed out when Brittany demanded a more permanent arrangement between the two of them. Chris and Dr. Biggs were unable to determine the precise dosage of the serum to administer or it being effective on Mac and Rachel. Nancy believed Neal's hypothesis that she had imagined Fayez due to lack of sleep. Brittany saw Peter and Annie leaving Smiley's together. Neal was undaunted by Vicky's efforts to spurn his amorous pursuit. Kathleen told Cass that her paralysis would not be suitable for an occasion like a wedding. Dr. Biggs disputed Chris's conviction over taking risks to save Mac and Rachel's lives. Cass begged Kathleen to cooperate with him.
JANUARY 28, 1986: Pre-empted for News Coverage of the Challenger Space Shuttle Explosion.
JANUARY 29, 1986 (EP. #5489)
Jake advised Marley not to abandon searching for her father. Michael made plans for his time in Bay City. MJ told Felicia that she has not seen Cass in Malibu and that Kathleen had gone on a vacation to a place that did not have a phone. When Cass suggested playing a memory game, Kathleen grew depressed at the mention of the last time she and Cass went skiing. Michael had trouble concentrating at work because he was haunted by memories of his past romance with Donna. Felicia surmised that Cass and Kathleen were together. Zane and Felicia noted that Peter and Annie were having a good time together. When Felicia wondered about the situation between Peter, Brittany, and Annie, Zane advised Felicia that they should not interfere in their personal matters. Brittany complained to Joyce about suffering from morning sickness. Clarice stirred Brittany's ire by claiming that she appeared to have gained weight. Catlin scoffed at Brittany's offer to lend him a sympathetic ear. Cass and Kathleen shared laughs while reminiscing about their last ski trip. Brittany eavesdropped as Peter and Annie discussed being single, Donna being an obstacle to his marriages, and Peter admitting that he keeps postponing taking a wife. Peter asked to take a raincheck when Annie suggested they go to Lake Erie. Catlin and Jake studied the video footage of the charity event. Cass was pleased when Kathleen tried to stand during an argument with him about trivial matters. Kathleen expressed doubts to Cass that she could marry anyone. Michael hid when Marley and Jake arrived at the Love stables to see her horse, Diamond. Marley assured Jake that he was the only man that she would ever love. Catlin vowed to Clarice that his and Sally's sessions with the marriage counselor would succeed. Brittany mistook Michael for a stable hand. Cass's efforts to get intimate with Kathleen were foiled once she started sobbing due to her paralysis.
JANUARY 30, 1986 (EP. #5490)
Rachel denied Dr. McIntyre's request to transfer Mac to the psychiatric ward because she believed that Chris would save him. Cass tried to assuage Kathleen's fears that he would tire of waiting for her to marry him. Kathleen promised Cass that she would not leave him again. Michael felt confident that Brittany would hire him as a stableboy, then tried unsuccessfully to quiz Brittany on Marley's relation to the rest of the Love family. Mac's prognosis seemed dire since the virus causes fewer physical effects as it gets closer to the brain. Chris secretly asked Dr. Pam Bondi to run the serum through the laboratory's computer without Dr. Longo's knowledge. Michael learned that Donna was in Switzerland and realized that Brittany disliked her. Nancy was spooked when Rachel mistook her for Janice Frame and accused Nancy of poisoning Mac. Cass reassured Kathleen that he would be cleared of the murder charge and that they could make a fresh start. Carter overheard Nancy bemoan to Thomasina that she had caused Grant's death and Mac and Rachel's hospitalizations by propagating the tomb dust disease. Annie bought a pie from Maisie for Peter. Pam informed Chris that the serum was a viable cure for the tomb dust disease and that the last remaining obstacle was to determine the proper dosage to administer. Dr. Longo confiscated the medical data on the serum and vowed to report Chris to the hospital review board, prompting Chris to assume that he would lose his job. Annie told Brittany that she postponed a boating trip and had no intentions of pressuring Peter into embarking on a relationship. Brittany reflected to Annie that she quit leaving things to fate. Cass refused to let Kathleen go to Los Angeles without him and tried to convince her to resume physical therapy. Michael's assistant warned him that several pending business deals were piling up during his absence. Nancy told Rachel that Chris had found a cure.
JANUARY 31, 1986 (EP. #5491)
Rachel begged Mac to continue fighting for his life. Wallingford suspected that the scheme to convince D.A. Martin that Cass was in Bay City had failed. Cass agreed to return to Bay City and let Kathleen go to Malibu. Rachel worried that she was losing her sanity. Pam informed Chris that Dr. Longo stopped them from administering the serum to Mac and Rachel. Felicia and Wallingford decided to locate Fayez. Felicia panicked when Enid Royer asked about Zane and requested to see her engagement ring. When Rachel threatened to withdraw the Cory family's financial support to the hospital, Dr. Longo maintained that Chris should not be permitted to treat Mac because the serum could be fatal to him. Chris stormed out when Dr. McIntyre theorized that Chris was obsessed with saving Mac's life due to Frederick's death. Dee, Felicia, and Wallingford listened to a radio broadcast in which D.A. Martin stated that Cass had failed to appear for a pre-trial hearing and that his bail would be revoked unless Cass returned to Bay City. Brittany told Zane that she was letting go of her past with Catlin and had fallen in love with Peter. Kathleen was skeptical of Cass's claim that the car was stuck in the snow because of a blizzard. Chris laid into Nancy for promising Rachel that he was certain to cure Mac. Felicia, Dee, and Wallingford learned from a real estate agent named Elvira that she had rented a cabin in Seattle to Cass. Felicia gave Elvira a telegram to deliver to Cass. Cass encouraged Kathleen to start physical therapy. Chris and Nancy made amends. Zane showed Wallingford an imperial alexandrite in a rare setting that he had discovered during an underwater dive, which he was using for Felicia's engagement ring. Rachel signed consent forms to allow Chris to administer the serum to Mac. Pam summoned Chris to the hospital boardroom. Cass and Kathleen went sledding. Cass destroyed Felicia's telegram upon receipt.
FEBRUARY 3, 1986 (EP. #5492)
Felicia left a phone message for Kathleen to call her. Wallingford was thrilled when Zane handed Felicia a monogrammed tackle box and invited her to have lunch with him and Annie. Catlin told Sally that he wished for the two of them to reconcile. Chris flipped when the doctors of the hospital board hypothesized that his judgment had been compromised because of his failure to save Frederick's life and his love for Nancy. The hospital board suspended Chris and forbade him from practicing medicine for thirty days. Felicia was deeply moved when Zane presented her with an engagement ring. Zane denied to Felicia that he was concerned that their wedding plans were getting to be too elaborate. Wallingford told Zane and Felicia that Cass's place was surrounded by police officers. Sally lectured Catlin for concealing Brittany and Evan's existence, sleeping with Brittany, and for doubting her fidelity while she was employed at Le Soleil. Catlin was stung when Sally lamented that their once lovely romance had been ruined. Rachel vowed to Chris that she would not jeopardize his medical career to save Mac. Nancy volunteered to help Chris sneak into the hospital's lab so that he could secretly treat Mac. Felicia went to deal with an irate wedding florist while Wallingford learned that Elvira had not been in touch with Cass. Annie consoled Felicia over Cass's troubles. Pam posted Nancy as a guard while Chris resumed computer research on the serum. Enid reminded Zane and Felicia that her machinations had saved the Northwoods Inn. Rachel got upset with doctors for minimizing Chris's ability to save lives. D.A. Martin eagerly waited for Cass to arrive so that he could be arrested. Felicia was perplexed when Vicky began to follow Neal. Dee went to Cass's place to ensure that Cass got to an officer of the court should he return to town. Vicky spotted Neal with Fayez near an abandoned mine as a helicopter was heard in the distance.
FEBRUARY 4, 1986 (EP. #5493)
Cass arrived as D.A. Martin was accusing Zane, Felicia, and Wallingford of being accessories. Vicky questioned Neal's intentions for meeting with Fayez, having a helicopter, and being near an abandoned mine. Pam got rid of the doctor who had entered the hospital's lab and Chris fled to Mac's bedside. Ada suggested that Rachel hire a lawyer to permit Chris to cure Mac and expressed confidence in Chris's medical instincts. Everyone was thrilled when D.A. Martin conceded that Cass had met with an officer of the court, but D.A. Martin revealed intentions to jail Cass for fleeing the state. A despondent Cass opined to Felicia that Kathleen was impervious and vowed to focus on proving his innocence. Felicia asked Cass to give her away at the wedding and told him about Fayez. Fayez disapproved of Neal's social life. Vicky fled after Neal blew up the helicopter and decided to view Jake's tape of the charity event. Fayez suspected that Neal was showering Vicky with stolen gems. Rachel, Joyce, and an assortment of doctors panicked when Mac's condition became unstable. Bridget remembered the safe deposit box and fussed over Vicky, who had returned with mud on her clothes and a cut on her forehead. Vicky mused that she should start a relationship with a member of the Cory family. Chris decided that it was not safe to treat Mac since he had not obtained the latest lab reports on the serum. Vicky dodged answering Cass's inquiries into Fayez. Jake asked Maisie whether someone had been lurking in his room and suspected that Vicky had tampered with his videotapes. Ada warned Nancy not to cause trouble because she was jealous of Chris and Pam's friendship. Cass and Nancy concluded that Vicky was involved with Neal and Fayez. Vicky proffered an alibi when Jake accused her of fencing stolen jewels. Fayez asked an assistant named Hector to tail Vicky. Chris prepared to administer the serum to Mac.
FEBRUARY 5, 1986 (EP. #5494)
Jake searched for Vicky. Kathleen hedged on taking Cass's suggestion that she return to Bay City for Valentine's Day. Rachel reassured Mac that he would recover as Chris administered the serum. Cass and MJ agreed that Kathleen must accept that the world was imperfect. MJ gave Cass the police file on Fayez and doubted that Neal was involved in criminal activities. Vicky punched Neal for sneaking up on her at a library. Neal flirted with Vicky while keeping a book on etiquette out of her grasp until she agreed to go out on a date with him. Kathleen was encouraged to remain hopeful that the experimental therapy would be successful. Rachel's delirious spell stopped Ada from quizzing Nancy on the reasons that she decided not to marry Chris. Chris decided not to administer the serum to Rachel unless it was necessary. Sally apologized profusely for mistaking Michael's rental car for her own, then politely declined Michael's lunch invitation. Maisie offered Vicky a sympathetic ear. Jake forced Vicky to come with him to view the tape of the charity event at KBAY. Michael and Sally got to know each other. Jake confronted Vicky about the videotaped footage. Chris admitted to administering the serum to stop Dr. Longo from giving Mac a sedative. Brittany made vague remarks in response to Michael's questions about the tension between Brittany and Sally. Michael recalled taking Donna to his room above the Love stables so that they could be intimate. Neal fibbed to Cass that he did not know Fayez. A message from Marley impeded Jake from getting Vicky to admit that she had stolen the jeweled necklace. Dr. Longo informed Chris that his medical career was finished. Michael told his secretary that he would not leave town until the person he intended to see returned from Europe. Fayez assumed that Neal was supplying Vicky with fancy clothes and a foreign sports car. Mac's condition began to deteriorate.
FEBRUARY 6, 1986 (EP. #5495)
Felicia was running ragged with wedding plans. Jake and Marley went on a ski trip. Mac had a negative reaction to the serum. Felicia was conflicted about Wallingford's plan to rifle through D.A. Martin's files since they had been arrested while trying to help Cass last time. Jake injured his ankle while skiing. Rachel disputed Dr. Longo's assertions that he was responsible for stabilizing Mac's condition and threatened to take Mac to another hospital unless Chris was allowed to perform the necessary drug tests. Felicia pretended that she was conducting research on D.A. Martin for a new novel until Wallingford purposely spilled coffee on him, causing him to rush out of his office. Marley refused to believe that Vicky was involved in getting money from Nicole to save the Love estate. Chris told Rachel that he would keep Mac under surveillance and asked Nancy to get Pam to test Rachel's blood. Felicia found an incriminating letter from Carl, which asserted that Daphne would cease to be useful in the near future. Zane praised Felicia and Wallingford's efforts to help Cass. Annie expressed doubts about Zane and Felicia's upcoming wedding. Zane handled an interview with a "Romance Digest" reporter named Cynthia Moffatt, who originally came to interview Felicia. While Jake and Marley made plans for the Plains Motel, Jake complained that he should be raising money now. Wallingford hypothesized to Felicia that D.A. Martin had concealed evidence to gain publicity. Jake refuted Marley's fears that he was hesitant for them to make love because she may not measure up to the standards that Jake had come to expect from Vicky. Felicia realized that her engagement ring had slipped into D.A. Martin's file drawer. Chris administered the serum to Rachel. Jake and Marley decided to get married in May and headed home. Dr. Longo ordered Thomasina to give him Rachel's test results and to take a look at Rachel.
FEBRUARY 7, 1986 (EP. #5496)
Everyone waited for the serum to take effect on Mac. Dr. Longo summoned the Chief of Staff to request that Chris leave the hospital immediately. Cass rejoiced upon reading the incriminating letter from Carl that D.A. Martin had concealed as evidence in Daphne's murder investigation. Brittany complained to Joyce about her pregnancy. Joyce fibbed to a suspicious Catlin that Brittany was visiting the Corys at the hospital. Felicia sobbed over losing her engagement ring and dreaded telling Zane. Neal lambasted Fayez for making himself visible in public and causing people to question his reasons for being in Bay City. Fayez was displeased when Hector produced a photograph of Vicky. Zane was annoyed that Felicia and Wallingford risked getting caught going through D.A. Martin's files and refused to let Felicia retrieve her engagement ring from D.A. Martin's office. Cass insisted to Zane, Felicia, and Wallingford that the incriminating letter must be returned because it was obtained illegally. Mac comforted Rachel. Chris and Joyce were thrilled after reviewing Rachel's blood test results. Chris told Carter that Grant's death made it possible to cure Mac and Rachel's tomb dust disease. Zane volunteered to help Wallingford and his contact Harvey retrieve Felicia's ring and return the letter to D.A. Martin's filing cabinet. Mac vowed to make the doctors at the hospital see reason concerning Chris. Mac introduced Catlin as the private detective assigned to the treasure theft case to Neal, who answered Catlin's questions until Sally arrived at the hospital. Mac opined that Neal was honest and good. Zane posed as a janitor while Wallingford hid in a garbage bin and broke into D.A. Martin's office. Sally told Catlin that she does not want to continue marriage counseling. Brittany told Bridget that she loved Peter and that Catlin had been a mere obsession. A hand developed a photograph of Zane searching D.A. Martin's files.
FEBRUARY 10, 1986 (EP. #5497)
Kathleen was puzzled when MJ returned to California. Neal took Vicky to a dance club. Zane resized Felicia's engagement ring so that she would not lose it again. Cass told Sally that he sent MJ to fetch Kathleen and did not want his and Kathleen's wedding to be as extravagant as Zane and Felicia's was turning out to be. Sally became depressed when Cass remarked that he wished to wake up next to Kathleen every morning. Kathleen feigned enthusiasm and optimism about regaining the ability to walk to MJ, who sang the praises of Cass and Le Soleil. A suspicious Kathleen accused MJ of being in Cass's employ. Zane did not share Felicia's concerns that they had too many differences and that the wedding was getting to be too lavish. Michael spied on Vicky, who tried to pump Neal for information on the stolen jewels and Fayez. Sally confided her marital troubles and Brittany's interferences in her and Catlin's lives to a sympathetic Michael. Michael and Sally agreed to have ice cream together. Fayez started to formulate a sinister plan to deal with Neal and Vicky. Sally groused to Cass that Catlin refused to admit to the marriage counselor that they had faced problems from the start of their romance. Michael and Sally felt certain that Kathleen would reunite with him should she return to Bay City. Kathleen used having a craving for cappuccino ice cream to end her conversation with MJ, who implored her to be strong and to take a risk by reconciling with Cass. When Neal pledged undying devotion and loyalty to Vicky, Michael recalled making similar declarations to Donna, pitied Jake, and thought ill of Marley. Office workers presented the photograph of Zane rifling through files to D.A. Martin. Cass asked Zane to be enthusiastic about his upcoming wedding to Felicia. MJ became furious when Kathleen refused to go back to Bay City to attend Zane and Felicia's wedding. Zane and Felicia quarreled about getting married.
FEBRUARY 11, 1986 (EP. #5498)
Nancy noticed that Chris was moody and lost due to being suspended from the hospital. Michael saved Vicky's life by pushing her out of the path of a speeding vehicle, which was driven by Fayez. Felicia insisted that she was toning down the decadent display in response to Cass and Wallingford's concerns about canceling some of the initial wedding plans. Michael was stunned after overhearing Vicky tell Neal that she was Marley's twin sister. Neal and Vicky had dinner together. Michael was evasive when Vicky questioned whether he was Marley's friend. Nancy tried to raise Chris's spirits by suggesting that he interpret the suspension as a month off of work. Thomasina told Chris and Nancy that she must testify at Chris's hearing. While talking to a reporter from "Romance Digest," Cass suggested writing a story about Felicia passing up the wedding of a lifetime for her future husband and Zane doing something meaningful rather than buying an expensive engagement ring for Felicia. Felicia tried to contact Liberace. Zane understood when Felicia declined his breakfast invitation because she was swamped with the wedding plans. Chris was puzzled that he was not summoned to his own hearing. Fayez boasted to Neal that they were equals since he was promoted. Neal accused Fayez of driving recklessly and warned that there would be repercussions should his friends be harmed. Vicky prevented Jake from interrogating her on Neal and the stolen jewels. Bridget told Michael that Donna was delayed in Switzerland due to unforeseen complications. Zane was impressed by Felicia's devotion to him after learning that she had cancelled the press coverage of the wedding. Mac asked Peter to find a lawyer to represent Chris. Michael questioned the reason that he felt close to Marley, who thanked him for saving Vicky's life. Felicia hoped that Kathleen would attend the wedding. Michael requested a dossier on the Loves.
Notes: Last appearance of Alexander Parker as Matthew Cory.
FEBRUARY 12, 1986 (EP. #5499)
Chris explained to Nancy that he would likely lose his medical license since he had broken hospital rules. Nancy was displeased when Chris decided to go for a walk alone. D.A. Martin had Zane arrested for breaking into his office and rifling through his file drawer. A seamster named Fritz got annoyed because Felicia had requested that her wedding gown be toned down. Cass planned to gift Kathleen with a potted palm tree. Wallingford warned Chris not to go overboard by showering Kathleen with gifts. Zane informed Cass and Wallingford that he had been arrested, asked for a lawyer to represent him, and for Annie to be contacted. Bridget felt certain that Peter would do the right thing since Brittany was pregnant with his child, but Brittany maintained that she would not trap Peter into marriage. Brittany complained to Bridget about Donna. While accompanying Annie to see Zane in jail, Peter was optimistic that he would be able to free Zane in time for his wedding. Zane expressed concerns that D.A. Martin would make it difficult for him to be released from jail. Brittany fumed about Peter's attentions to Annie. Felicia surprised Dee by showing her the flower girl dress she was to wear for the wedding. Cass blamed himself for Zane's arrest. Chris and Nancy enjoyed spending time together. Dee and Felicia were perplexed by Wallingford's eccentric behavior. Zane was denied bail. Cass decided to recruit Larry in tricking D.A. Martin into revealing that he had suppressed evidence in Daphne's murder investigation. Zane and Dee planned a surprise for Felicia at the wedding.
FEBRUARY 13, 1986 (EP. #5500)
Jake got upset that the purchasing price of the Plains Motel had increased. Donna called and asked that Marley come to Switzerland. MJ ordered Kathleen to return with her to Bay City. Felicia bade a hasty retreat after learning of Zane's imprisonment from Peter and Annie. Jake assumed that Donna was plotting to break up his romance with Marley by asking her to come to Switzerland to testify against Carl, but swayed Dee's opinion on the matter by stating that the Plains Motel was the only place worthy of her band. When Felicia offered to be jailed in Zane's place, Zane promised Felicia that he would be released in time for their wedding and begged Felicia not to harass D.A. Martin. At the airport, an employee of Michael's named Caruso accused him of experiencing a midlife crisis. Jake resented Marley's efforts to help him financially by suggesting that she offer her trust fund as collateral towards the Plains Motel. Kathleen planned to continue physical therapy and was noncommittal when Sally asked whether she was coming to Bay City and attending Zane and Felicia's wedding. Cass fibbed to Larry that he was unable to pay the detective agency to retrieve Carl's incriminating letter from D.A. Martin, who insisted that no new evidence had surfaced in Daphne's murder case. Brittany assured Bridget that riding lessons would not affect her pregnancy. Bridget urged Jake to keep his aspirations in life at an attainable level. Jake swore to Marley that he would have possession of the Plains Motel by the time that she returned from Europe. Zane and Dee discussed the surprise that they have in store for Felicia's wedding. Peter suspected that Zane and Wallingford were hatching a scheme. Marley talked about Donna's past romance with a stable hand named Michael, who privately referred to Marley as "my little girl" after driving her to the airport. D.A. Martin contacted Larry. Felicia vowed to get Zane released from jail.
FEBRUARY 14, 1986 (EP. #5501)
MJ returned to Bay City and gave Felicia a letter from Kathleen. D.A. Martin offered to pay for the evidence that Larry and Catlin have for Cass. Jake declined Vicky's offer to give her trust fund as a loan and was pessimistic when Vicky suggested asking Mac to fund Jake's purchase of the Plains Motel. Catlin informed Mac and Neal that the treasure thieves were still in Bay City, had become careless, that Lou Hunt had been murdered, and that pieces of the treasure had been found in his safe. Neal theorized to Mac and Catlin that the jewels had been fenced before the thieves fled the scene and that the fencer had been a local ally of the thieves. Catlin told Mac and Neal that he was searching for a Bay City citizen with money to burn. Vicky urged Jake to prove to Mac that he was capable of running a business. MJ dreaded telling Cass that Kathleen had refused to attend Zane and Felicia's wedding. Vicky told Peter that she was encouraging Jake to seek Mac's financial help to make Marley happy. Peter arranged a meeting between Mac and Jake. During Felicia's visit with Zane, a guard escorted Felicia out of the jail for arousing the ire of other prisoners against D.A. Martin. As Cass and Wallingford listened from a van, D.A. Martin bought Larry's evidence and refused to clear Cass. D.A. Martin was shocked when Larry revealed that he had captured the incriminating conversation by wearing a wire. Jake declined Vicky's suggestion that she pose as Marley to attend Zane and Felicia's wedding with him. Dee bemoaned to Zane about the lack of romance in her own life. Cass, Larry, and Wallingford were miffed that D.A. Martin was noncommittal towards dropping the murder charges against Cass and releasing Zane from jail. Felicia began to cancel the wedding plans. Neal failed to get Vicky to confess to stealing the jewels. MJ and Sally tried to restrain Felicia, who angrily spilled linguine onto D.A. Martin's head.
FEBRUARY 17, 1986 (EP. #5502)
Vicky overheard Jake send flowers and chocolate to Marley in Switzerland, which accompanied a telegram that said, "All my love forever, Jake." Sally and Felicia rejoiced upon learning that Zane had been released from jail and that the murder charges against Cass had been dropped. Vicky helped Jake prepare for his meeting with Mac. Vicky decided to remain in Jake's room and watch tapes. Mac and Rachel gifted each other with identical red sports cars. Mac helped Chris launch a defense against the hospital board. Chris resented Nancy for warning him against practicing medicine by bringing sleep aids to Mrs. James, who had become dependent on Chris. Cass decided to visit Kathleen in California. MJ gave Cass a "Dear John letter" that Kathleen had written to Cass. Kathleen avoided a phone call from Cass. Sally informed Felicia that she must reinvite the wedding guests. Jake felt discouraged when Mac stated that he would check out the Plains Motel during their meeting. Felicia lamented over Cass's issues with Kathleen. Liberace told Felicia that he was unaware that she had toned down the wedding plans. Felicia called Zane the perfect romantic hero for rearranging the wedding on their behalf. Annie fled so that Zane and Felicia could be alone for a few minutes. Bridget warned Brittany against causing a scene since Peter was attending Zane and Felicia's wedding with Annie. Vicky vowed to help Jake buy the Plains Motel. Nancy got upset that Pam was working with Chris to treat Mrs. James. Lily and Sally kept mum about the location of Zane and Felicia's honeymoon. MJ told Larry and Clarice that the police department hoped that he would return. Cass dealt with his problems alone. Zane and Felicia separately realized that they had arrived at the wrong church for their ceremony. Everyone arrived at the correct location of Zane and Felicia's wedding. Zane and Felicia's wedding ceremony began.
FEBRUARY 18, 1986 (EP. #5503)
Felicia was relieved to see Zane standing at the altar and was thrilled once their friends had arrived at the church for the wedding ceremony. Bridget tried to talk Vicky out of loaning the money for Jake to purchase the Plains Motel. Vicky confessed to Bridget that she is frightened of and intrigued by Neal. Neal ordered Fayez to increase security at the abandoned mine because a fence had been killed who had gems stored in their safe, which was overheard by Amanda. Zane and Felicia exchanged wedding vows. Vicky was amused that Neal was babysitting Amanda and Matthew. Neal and Vicky agreed that they are outsiders and shared a kiss. Zane wished for Brittany to find the same kind of happiness in life he had found with Felicia. Brittany made sure that Peter overheard her hints to Zane that she was thinking about moving to Chicago. Chris noted that Nancy gets emotional at weddings. Mac and Rachel told Zane, Felicia, and Ada that they were thinking of renewing their wedding vows. Neal asked Amanda not to tell Mac and Rachel about his talk with Fayez. Vicky refused to tell Bridget about her plans for the evening. Jake told Chris and Nancy that Donna tries to ignore Jake's background of being from a family of coal-miners. Mac and Rachel lauded Thomasina for helping Chris to cure them of the tomb dust disease. Carter was moved when Mac spoke fondly of Grant. Carter told Quinn and Lily that he approves of Thomasina's new job and being a father to Grant II. Liberace performed at the reception. Wallingford delivered a toast to Zane and Felicia. Cass told MJ that he was disappointed that Kathleen chose not to attend Zane and Felicia's wedding. Annie gave her blessing to Zane and Felicia. Brittany was livid that Peter and Annie left the reception together. Zane refused to tell Felicia the destination for their honeymoon. Vicky lurked outside of the abandoned mine. Brittany caught Felicia's bridal bouquet.
FEBRUARY 19, 1986 (EP. #5504)
Nancy, Carter, Thomasina, and Dee were surprised to find that Mrs. James had left scores of phone messages on Chris's answering machine. Brittany groused to Bridget that Peter had left Zane and Felicia's wedding reception with Annie. When Nancy told Chris not to see Mrs. James, Chris tried unsuccessfully to convince Mrs. James to contact Dr. Willis for medical advice. Nancy hid Chris's medical bag and got into a quarrel with him. While going ice skating, Annie agreed with Peter's contention that Brittany had changed her ways. Vicky was evasive when Jake questioned the reasons that she was at the abandoned mine. Bridget tried to convince Brittany that things would work out for her. Peter noted that Donna was incapable of enjoying herself and fretted that he felt invisible hiding from his father for many years. Nancy insisted to Chris that she was trying to keep him from ruining a promising medical career by treating a hypochondriac like Mrs. James. Annie realized that Peter had feelings for Brittany and urged him to pursue a romance with her. Nancy angrily gave Chris his medical bag and advised him to live his life without her and a medical license. Vicky told Jake that she had planned to steal jewels to help Jake purchase the Plains Motel. Neal ordered additional security measures at the abandoned mine and for Fayez to go to Chicago. Nancy confided her troubles with Chris to Rachel. Peter suggested to Brittany that they needed to take time to get to know each other better and invited Brittany to go to London in May. When Neal stated that he wished to gain power, prestige, and success, Rachel noted that Neal had failed to mention finding love among his aspirations. Jake tried to convince Vicky to go to the police concerning the treasure theft. Brittany went into a rage over Peter. Neal instructed Fayez to seal the back entrance to the abandoned mine. Jake held a jewel in his hand and considered stealing it.
FEBRUARY 20, 1986 (EP. #5505)
Vicky did not believe Jake's claim that he decided not to steal the jewels. Mac, Rachel, and a lawyer warned Chris not to jeopardize his career by treating Mrs. Carol James. Rachel failed to convince Nancy that she should not ask Mrs. James to quit relying on Chris because of the risk he was taking to his career. Mac asked Dr. Biggs to testify at the hearing on Chris's behalf. Jake denied Vicky's assertions that he had stolen jewels and had secretly driven to Chicago to fence them. Vicky convinced Jake not to notify the police about the abandoned mine. Vicky mistreated her horse because she was too distracted thinking about her recent conversations with Jake, which made Michael angry. Jake tried to probe Neal on his reasons for being in Bay City and leads on the missing treasure. Neal told Jake that he was investigating the marina for a business endeavor. Vicky warned Michael that Donna would "make mincemeat of him" once she returned from Switzerland. After Nancy explained that she and Chris were in love and would be married in the near future, Mrs. James suffered from an asthma attack. Chris arrived to take care of Mrs. James. Vicky informed Michael that she had been invited to a horse show in April and vowed that she would win a blue ribbon like Donna and Marley. Jake declined Mac's offer to pay the tuition for him to attend administrative school. Jake thought of his talks with Mac, Vicky, and Marley concerning his goals. Michael was fascinated as Vicky explained that she and Marley had different backgrounds. Vicky accused Michael of trying to ingratiate himself into the Love family's good graces by giving her riding lessons. Mac readily approved of Neal's idea to feign negotiations with the jewel thieves and called Catlin. Vicky wrote an apologetic letter to Jake. Chris failed to contact Nancy. Vicky told Marley that she did not know Jake's whereabouts. Jake met with a loan shark named Frank Baines.
FEBRUARY 21, 1986 (EP. #5506)
Wallingford witnessed Jake give his proposition of buying the Plains Motel to a loan shark named Frank Baines and adamantly voiced his disapproval. When Bridget quizzed Brittany on the reasons that she was checking out an abortion clinic, Brittany cleverly spoke despondently, harped on the likelihood of having to get an abortion, and emphasized the type of women that Peter had dated in the past. Cass dictated a letter to Sally for Kathleen, which stated that she could stop Le Soleil from going bankrupt by declaring her love for Cass. Edward told Kathleen that Raoul was impressed by the first two scenes she had written and asked for first refusal. Kathleen tried to be optimistic about physical therapy on her legs despite a lack of progress. Frank and Jake finalized a deal after discussing the loan's repayment terms. An irritated Dee urged Nancy to reconcile with Chris despite that Nancy acted cheerful over the split while trying to conduct phone sales for Jalousie windows without success. Edward wanted a computer simulation of damaged nerves investigated for Kathleen. Jake informed Marley that he had purchased the Plains Motel. Per Wallingford's request, Carter warned Jake that he would return the money to Frank on his behalf or Jake would have to accept Marley bailing him out of the deal. Bridget enthused over Peter and Brittany dating and being able to confide in each other, which puzzled and pleased Peter. Nancy griped to Ada about Chris and Pam's friendship. Cass and Sally were forgiving when Dee tactlessly groused about love and misery going hand in hand. Brittany complained to herself about Bridget failing to tell Peter about her inquiry into an abortion clinic. Wallingford and Carter were relieved that Jake went to meet Frank at the Pig Whistle. Frank refused to take the loan money back from Jake. Kathleen told Edward that she would make a concerted effort into getting results from therapy.
FEBRUARY 24, 1986 (EP. #5507)
Michael gazed at a photograph of Donna at Marley's age. Frank told Jake that he could not take back the loan because too many clients had attempted to return the money without interest and advised Jake that he had thirty days to repay the $10,000.00 loan. Michael mused that he did not have relatives and Bridget mentioned that she had never married but had raised a child. Bridget opined to Michael that Vicky was not a sweet and innocent person because she did not have Marley's advantages. The doctor told Kathleen that the success of physical therapy was not guaranteed and became cagey in response to Kathleen's vow that she would regain the ability to walk again. Neal instructed Fayez to dynamite the back entrances of the abandoned mine and to put it under twenty-four surveillance by installing cameras. Catlin assured Larry that the treasure thieves remained in Bay City. Larry mused to Catlin that it would nice to have $50,000.00 and fretted that their detective agency was not lucrative. Larry was offended when Catlin suggested that he return to the police force. Jake berated himself for accepting money from Frank despite that Wallingford and Carter assumed that he had returned the money and were unaware that Jake had to repay the $10,000.00. Larry promised Clarice that he would quit being cranky. Marley became eager to help Jake run the Plains Motel. Fayez told Neal that their men were getting nervous. Kathleen grew disillusioned once the doctor admitted that the physical therapy had a long waiting list of patients who were in worse condition than Kathleen. Edward remonstrated a distraught Kathleen for cancelling therapy and secretly called Cass. Michael pondered the reasons that he and Donna had lost each other years ago. Vicky caught Michael in the attic after he had discovered that Donna's diary referenced Marley as her daughter. A gunshot was heard as Jake returned to the treasure.
FEBRUARY 25, 1986 (EP. #5508)
Jake was shot in the arm while lurking in the abandoned mine. Zane and Felicia returned from their honeymoon in the Galapagos Islands and settled into married life. Vicky apologized to Michael for being rude towards him and talked about being without a twin sister, and her deceased foster parents, but decided not to divulge Bridget as the woman who raised her as a child. Michael told Vicky that he enjoyed working as a stableboy. Edward dismissed Cass's recriminations against him and begged Cass to come to Malibu because Kathleen needed him. Edward told Kathleen to accept Cass's love. Kathleen told Edward that she wanted Cass out of her life. Zane got Annie to confess that she was competing with Brittany for Peter's affections. Brittany educated herself about art because of Peter's love for it. Peter and Brittany denied harboring lingering feelings for Sally, Annie, and Catlin. Peter suggested to Brittany that they get together during the upcoming weekend. Neal suspected that someone had fled the abandoned mine after getting shot. Fayez accused Neal of plotting to take the treasure for himself. Chris offered Jake medical treatment after examining his bullet wound. Brittany confessed to Zane that she was pregnant without revealing Peter as the father of her unborn child. Vicky offered kindness to a wounded Jake because he felt like a failure and called herself a temptress who was inextricably entwined with Jake. MJ arranged a meeting with Jake. MJ outlined Kathleen's daily routine for Cass. Cass and Felicia agreed that Kathleen still loved him. Dee lambasted Jake for acquiring a loan from Frank and refused to let Jake contact Tony the Tuna for help. Neal told Vicky that he had made an offer to buy a local marina. Vicky rushed to Michael's side for protection against Neal. Brittany declined Zane's financial assistance and expressed confidence that she would make Peter happy. Felicia accompanied Cass to the airport.
FEBRUARY 26, 1986 (EP. #5509)
In California, Cass stalled visiting Kathleen. While Mac and Neal talked to an insurance agent, Ada grew suspicious of Neal's knowledge of the treasure, the fact that he poured over the inventory list, and did not share Rachel and Nancy's admiration towards Neal. Brittany feigned enthusiasm when Peter presented her with a pin that was a family heirloom instead of a ring. Peter and Brittany tried to assure each other by professing their love. Zane suspected that Brittany was carrying Catlin's child and urged Brittany to raise the child alone instead of marrying Peter. When Edward asked Cass to help him cure Kathleen of her despondency, Cass reasoned that Kathleen would resist any normal, straightforward efforts on his part. Kathleen told Edward that she was bored with exercise and writing the screenplay and asked Edward to take her to the park. Catlin decided to retain the detective agency. Michael informed Bridget that Brittany had left him in charge of running the Love stables while she left town to see a doctor. Neal hinted to Mac and Rachel that he needed financial help to buy a local marina. Edward tried to dissuade Kathleen from watching a puppet show and lied about Cass being at the park. Cass charmed one of the puppeteers into allowing him to stand backstage. Bridget praised Peter for being a pillar of strength to Michael. Mac complained to Rachel that Neal was a compulsive liar. Clarice urged Catlin to reconcile with Sally. Larry informed Catlin and Clarice that he had been reinstated at the police force. Mac advised Catlin to subtly keep Neal on the periphery of the investigation. Bridget told Peter about Brittany's plan to get an abortion. Edward hastily retreated after spotting Cass, who decided to use a puppet named "Mickey" to lure Kathleen to the park. Catlin called MJ when Neal groused to Mac and Catlin that he had been targeted by gunshots while they were following Fayez to the treasure.
Notes: Last appearance of John Saxon as Edward Gerard.
FEBRUARY 27, 1986 (EP. #5510)
Neal led Catlin, Mac, and the police to a suspicious Quonset hut. Zane advised Brittany that marrying Peter would not solve her issues. Bridget asked Michael to locate Peter after being unable to contact him. MJ took charge of Neal's search for the missing treasure and Mac discovered a crate from the Bay City Museum. Liz and Sally were displeased by Peter's declarations of love for Brittany. Felicia opined that Zane's vow not to tell her about Brittany's problems were both admirable and a nuisance. Neal assumed that he had ruined the operation to find the stolen treasure while Catlin privately doubted MJ's ability to lead the investigation. Brittany pretended to beg Bridget not to tell Peter about her plan to get an abortion. When Neal confessed that he had lied about buying a local marina, Mac thanked Neal for his honesty and expressed confidence that Neal would find his niche. Mac asked Catlin to write a police report and keep Neal abreast of the case while MJ discovered a jewel from the stolen treasure. Larry was assigned to work the graveyard shift after rejoining the police force. Liz and Sally disagreed on whether to warn Peter about Brittany and Catlin's ability to resist Brittany's wiles. Peter rushed to the abortion clinic once Bridget had revealed Brittany's scheme. Neal told Rachel that Vicky was the woman in his life. Catlin griped to Larry and Clarice that his romance with Sally was a lost cause. Zane warned Felicia not to interfere once she realized that Brittany was in love with Peter and carrying Catlin's child. Larry and Catlin assumed that MJ secretly agreed with their suspicions of Neal. Peter stopped Brittany from getting an abortion and professed his love to her. Neal told Fayez that he had misled the police and that M. Garbon was on his way. Brittany accepted Peter's marriage proposal. Sally approved of Catlin spending time with Kevin. Catlin rejoiced when Sally was amenable towards making a new start.
FEBRUARY 28, 1986 (EP. #5511)
Carter and Thomasina asked Chris to rescue them from Nancy's feigned happiness since they had ended their romance. Brittany failed to stop Peter from leaving a phone message for Donna. Jake told Vicky that he was going to Johnstown in hopes of securing a loan from a rich man. Chris expressed interest in Jake's injured arm. Peter promised Brittany a belated honeymoon. Brittany told Bridget that they must keep Donna from disrupting her wedding to Peter. Jake lied to Carter about the cause of his arm injury. Neal warned Jake to be cautious. Vicky interpreted Neal's advice not to wander alone on roads at night as a threat. Thomasina advised Chris not to jeopardize his medical career. Neal told Clarice about leading the authorities to the location of the treasure. Chris pretended to be a German man named Wilbur Bremermann who inquired into buying Jalousie windows from Nancy, dropped his accent, and arranged to see Nancy. Brittany told Bridget that they should reduce Donna's extravagant spending habits. Vicky wondered whether Donna knew about Peter and Brittany's wedding plans. Annie cried upon learning about Peter and Brittany. Peter decided to confront Brittany after Liz warned him against getting involved with her. Nancy resented Chris for treating her like a child and opined that their romance was doomed. Rachel took Brittany shopping for the wedding. Carter and Clarice urged Catlin not to give up reuniting with Sally. Brittany assured Peter that she did not harbor lingering feelings for Catlin. Peter gifted Brittany with his great-grandmother's wedding ring. Neal rescinded a dinner invitation to Nancy because he had not expected her to accept it. Neal ordered Fayez to tighten security at the abandoned mine. Donna was speechless over Peter and Brittany's impending nuptials, though Marley offered congratulations to them. Brittany feared that Donna would return to stop her wedding.
MARCH 3, 1986 (EP. #5512)
Zane and Felicia gushed about married life. Rachel gave Brittany something borrowed for the wedding ceremony. Michael helped Peter finalized wedding plans. Cass hoped to use a puppet named "Mickey" to win Kathleen's heart and asked a puppeteer named Justin whether he could replace Harry, who had recently quit the show. Vicky predicted to Michael that Donna was capable of stopping Peter and Brittany's wedding. Zane and Felicia expressed their displeasure over Brittany marrying Peter. Brittany showed off her wedding ring to Rachel. Catlin resisted Brittany's attempts to reminisce when he had arrived to retrieve documents for Mac. Brittany was dubious towards Catlin's claim that he was happy that she had found another man in her life. Marley informed Peter that Donna was hysterical in Switzerland and that she was stuck at the JFK airport due to fog. Peter refused to delay the wedding ceremony so that Donna and Marley could attend it. Jake failed to secure a loan from the rich man in Johnstown because he was senile. During the puppet show, "Mickey" flirted with Kathleen and produced a red balloon bearing the word "hope." Vicky refused to talk about Neal with Rachel and acted civil towards Brittany. Mac opined to Rachel that Neal was a mysterious person. Kathleen's therapist, Miriam, left a phone message for Cass. Bridget urged Jake not to get discouraged over being unable to secure a loan. Jake stormed out when Bridget mentioned that Vicky was trying to help him purchase the Plains Motel. Jake found Vicky hiding in the underbrush near the abandoned mine and started disconnecting security cameras as they headed into it. Marley congratulated the newlyweds. Kathleen struggled to write while thinking of Cass. Fayez and Terry grabbed guns and went to investigate the cause of the disabled security cameras. Vicky tried to coax Jake into stealing some jewels from the abandoned mine.
MARCH 4, 1986 (EP. #5513)
MJ predicted that Larry could impress their bosses and get taken off of the graveyard shift by solving the case of the stolen treasure. Terry refused Fayez's request to fix the surveillance cameras within the abandoned mine because he feared it would cause a cave-in. Brittany was intrigued by the link between twins. Carter told Marley that he did not know Jake or Vicky's whereabouts. Bridget told Marley that Jake may not have secured the funds to buy the Plains Motel and had left to search for Vicky. Marley assumed that Vicky had acquired the money to save the Love estate since Nicole was constantly broke and concluded that Vicky was trying to help Jake financially. Fayez and Terry nearly caught Jake and Vicky arguing about stealing jewels from the treasure. Brittany promised Peter that she would make him a good wife and that their marriage would never be boring. Larry remained baffled by the stolen treasure case. Catlin groused to Larry that Brittany married Peter to spite him and that her vindictive nature may hurt other people. After Jake was temporarily knocked unconscious by falling debris in the abandoned mine, Jake tried to keep Vicky from panicking and insisted that they must dig their way out of it to escape. Catlin told Larry that he was optimistic because Sally asked to see him again for Kevin's sake, but Catlin ignored Larry's warnings that he not interfere in Brittany's life. Brittany had a nightmare of Catlin confronting her about the paternity of the baby and claiming that her marriage to Peter was a sham. Marley felt certain that Jake would not be unfaithful with Vicky. Peter assured Brittany that their love was strong enough to handle Donna's opposition. Fayez and Terry were displeased because the treasure was partially buried. Peter and Brittany discussed their unborn child. Jake was unnerved after hearing pickaxes being used in the abandoned mine and catching Vicky grabbing some jewels.
MARCH 5, 1986 (EP. #5514)
Vicky woke up in Jake's arms in the abandoned mine. Cass started a scheme of fulfilling "Mickey's" purpose to goad Kathleen into resuming physical therapy and relished the fact that being in love influenced him to place Kathleen's needs ahead of his own. Kathleen was instantly contrite after snapping at Miriam for pointing out that she must put effort into the physical therapy should she wish to regain the ability to walk. Marley refused to entertain Nancy's suspicion that Jake and Vicky ran off together and decided against contacting the police. Jake urged Vicky to be quiet to prevent Neal, Fayez, and Terry from discovering them in the abandoned mine. Neal vowed revenge against the person who had stolen nine gems from the treasure while anticipating Garbon's arrival. Jake and Vicky resumed trying to dig themselves out of the abandoned mine. Peter had Bridget serve Brittany breakfast in bed. Bridget assured Michael that Vicky was not deterred from taking riding lessons because he had been rough on her. Once Bridget admitted that Vicky had disappeared, Michael asked Bridget to keep him abreast of the situation. Fayez and Terry investigated the abandoned mine for intruders after hearing Jake and Vicky's voices. Brittany expressed surprise over Bridget's attachment to Vicky and Marley. Neal became rattled as Nancy, Thomasina, Carter, and Maisie tried to find clues on Jake and Vicky's whereabouts. Bridget was amused by Brittany's efforts to change Donna's spending habits and system of paying bills. Michael asked Caruso to search for Vicky. Miriam dragged Kathleen away from the puppet show after she expressed interest in meeting "Mickey's" puppeteer. Marley recalled for Peter that Vicky had been acting strangely since the treasure had been stolen. Peter told Marley that Mac had hired private investigators to locate Vicky. Jake and Vicky freaked when the abandoned mine collapsed further.
MARCH 6, 1986 (EP. #5515)
Mac told Nancy that Chris's hearing with the hospital board had been rescheduled for an earlier date. Jake and Vicky remained trapped in the abandoned mine as it collapsed. Mac maintained that Chris would get his medical license restored. Chris complained about the members of the hospital board, lamented that the gulf between his and Nancy's respective maturities was wide, and felt uncertain whether he and Nancy should be together. Neal and Fayez continued to argue. Jake told Vicky that they had to work together to escape out of the abandoned mine alive. Brittany grew impatient over everyone's concerns about Vicky. Michael and Brittany disagreed on whether Vicky was with Jake. Brittany told Michael that she felt a kinship with Vicky. Nancy became resentful towards Chris after talking to him. Once Thomasina stated that Chris was under stress, embarrassment, and fear over losing his medical license, Nancy chastised herself for failing to support Chris and vowed to mend the rift between them. Michael agreed to give Marley riding lessons as she tried to convince herself that Jake and Vicky would not run away together. Neal said Vicky's name while lurking around the abandoned mine. Jake comforted Vicky, who squealed after spotting a rat and expressed regret over leaving Lassiter. Nancy decided to act more like an adult. Pam found Grant's blood work for Chris, who confided to Pam about his issues with Nancy and confessed that he missed practicing medicine. Nancy fled after overhearing Chris and Pam laughing at doctor jokes. Michael admired Mac for setting aside business matters to spend time with Amanda. Thomasina tried to convince Nancy that Chris and Pam were friends. Michael asked Caruso to investigate Vicky getting the money to save the Love estate. As Jake searched for an escape route in the abandoned mine, Vicky wailed that they had nothing but the love between them.
MARCH 7, 1986 (EP. #5516)
Kathleen was delighted when the redheaded Princess from the puppet show was delivered to her. Neal ordered his men to drive Vicky's car and Jake's motorcycle to the airport. Jake tried to ignored Vicky's declarations of love and sexual advances while trying to get them out of the abandoned mine as the thieves searched the premises. Kathleen was slightly spooked upon realizing that the puppeteer knew her address, though Kathleen's assistant, Dottie, thought the puppeteer's gestures were romantic. Dottie called to warn Cass that Kathleen intended to meet "Mickey's" puppeteer and offered her assistance because she approved of Cass's scheme. Michael promised Marley that he would not allow her to lose Jake and Vicky. Marley contacted Larry after she and Michael noticed Vicky's car and Jake's motorcycle passing by Smiley's. Michael ordered Caruso to get results on his investigation into Vicky. Marley sensed that Jake and Vicky were in danger. Fayez warned Neal that searching for the stolen gems could cause the abandoned mine to collapse further. As "Mickey," Cass tried to goad Kathleen out of her wheelchair. After talking to Caruso and Marley, Wallingford deduced that Vicky had worked with Lou Hunt to save the Love estate. Jake's arm was trapped by debris until Vicky was able to free him. Cass berated himself for alienating Kathleen, who fled after "Mickey" accused Kathleen of giving up on men and being consumed by self-pity. Marley refused when Larry considered the possibility that Jake and Vicky had left the car and motorcycle at the airport to leave town together. Michael was annoyed when Caruso mentioned Vicky's involvement with Lou. Jake urged Vicky to escape the abandoned mine without him to no avail. Kathleen arranged to resume physical therapy. Cass came up with an idea to reconcile with Kathleen while chatting with "Mickey." Jake tried in vain to calm a hysterical Vicky.
MARCH 10, 1986 (EP. #5517)
Zane told Felicia that he was going to Duluth for five days. Michael tried to extract information on the jewel heist from the head of intelligence. When Felicia conceded that she gets into trouble each time Zane is out of town, Zane pointed out to Felicia that Wallingford may be a bad influence on her. Zane asked Felicia to conduct research on a new novel that mirrored the situation between Jake, Vicky, and Marley alone. Peter and Marley debated on Vicky's involvement with the stolen treasure, Lou Hunt, and Jake trying to help Vicky get out of trouble. Wallingford ruefully admitted to Zane and Felicia that he gets other people involved with shady underworld figures, but felt confident that Jake and Vicky would be found. Caruso told Michael that Vicky and Neal had been acting strangely since the jewel heist, but dodged Michael's inquiries into Neal. Jake snuck up and attacked Terry, who accosted Vicky. Rachel warned Brittany not to sell Love family heirlooms without obtaining permission while renovating her apartments. Brittany theorized to Rachel that Jake and Vicky would have to provide an explanation to Marley once they return. Zane accompanied Wallingford and Felicia to the abandoned mine. Neal had Vicky tied up and forced her to admit that the stolen gems were in her purse. Brittany sang Peter's praises for being determined to find Vicky. Fayez wished to torture Jake and Vicky while Neal insisted on interrogating them. Mac disputed Michael's theory that Neal was involved in the treasure heist. Vicky thought of Jake professing his love to her. Zane went to investigate a helicopter that had landed near the abandoned mine. Marley showed photographs of Jake and Vicky at the airport, which did not generating leads. Neal was ordered to execute Jake and Vicky. Michael suspected that the Quonset hut was a set-up, that Neal was holding Vicky captive, and the thieves were preparing to leave town with the treasure.
MARCH 11, 1986 (EP. #5518)
Catlin and Sally took Kevin rollerskating. Larry and the police discovered the location of the treasure and headed for the abandoned mine. Felicia feared that Zane was too curious for his own good. Neal gave Jake and Vicky a moment alone to say farewell to each other, in which Jake professed his love to Vicky and asked her to untie his hands. Marley told Peter and Bridget that she did not uncover clues on Jake and Vicky's whereabouts at the airport. Marley assumed that Jake was not with Vicky, whom Marley sensed was frightened. Larry called Clarice to ensure that she would not worry about him. Felicia feared that Zane's life was in danger. Zane was stunned to witness men armed with automatic weapons near the abandoned mine. Sally updated Catlin on Kevin because she wished to avoid discussing Catlin's bad behavior and Le Soleil with him. The police discovered that Garbon was a wanted man in the United States. Marley stopped feeling fear. Neal returned Fayez's gun and was introduced to Garbon and his associate, Major Morrow. Neal claimed to Fayez and Garbon that he had used Vicky as a cover and that she and Jake had been killed. The police surrounded the abandoned mine and used tear gas to force the thieves to surrender or face death. Kevin went to spend time with a schoolmate named Lisa and Catlin and Sally discussed the deterioration of their marriage. Clarice questioned whether she should have encouraged Larry to rejoin the police force. Fayez discovered that Jake and Vicky were still alive. Fayez fled after hearing a gunshot while Neal refused to let Jake and Vicky escape. Sally insisted that she and Catlin were trying to be friends in response to Kevin's hopes that they would fall in love again. Garbon denounced Neal as a traitor. Wallingford and Felicia left a note for Zane and headed to the abandoned mine. Fayez shot Zane, who had generously given Fayez the use of his truck.
MARCH 12, 1986 (EP. #5519)
Garbon screamed for Fayez and Terry to kill Neal. Vicky tried to stop Jake from coming to Neal's aide. Felicia spotted Larry while looking through a pair of binoculars and asked for Zane's whereabouts. Catlin told Clarice about the time he had spent with Sally. Clarice confessed to Catlin that she was worried about Larry because he was on a top-secret assignment. Neal escaped the abandoned mine, ran to the police, and mentioned that the government wanted Garbon apprehended alive. Wallingford accompanied Felicia to the abandoned mine to search for Zane after they discovered the note that they had left for Zane had not been touched. Vicky had faith that Neal would rescue them, then groused about loving Jake and him being torn between Vicky and Marley. Vicky fretted that she had lost Jake after becoming Victoria Love. Marley felt certain that Jake and Vicky were involved upon learning from Catlin that the authorities were in the process of apprehending the jewel thieves. Terry turned Jake and Vicky over to Garbon, prompting Neal to offer himself as a hostage in Vicky's place. As Jake shot Garbon, Marley fainted in Peter's arms. Jake was riddled with guilt for shooting Garbon. Sally tried to assuage Clarice's concerns for Larry. Clarice berated herself for forcing Larry to sleep on the couch while they were estranged. Jake did not believe Vicky's claims that he was still in love with her. Neal warned Vicky that the authorities would want to question her. Larry had Catlin take Jake and Vicky home. MJ informed Peter and Marley that Jake and Vicky were safe. Marley admitted to Peter that she resents that Jake and Vicky had been close since they were children because Peter's father had separated the twins at birth. Vicky sulked as Jake and Marley had a happy reunion. Clarice was relieved when Larry returned home. Neal declined taking on another government assignment. Wallingford found a wounded Zane.
Notes: Last appearance of Kathleen Layman as MJ McKinnon.
MARCH 13, 1986 (EP. #5520)
Jake advised Marley not to bother Vicky. Mac, Rachel, and Ada learned that the stolen treasure had been recovered. Nancy recalled finding the treasure and making love to Chris in Arizona. Felicia became undone as Zane was hospitalized. Michael was overjoyed upon learning from Caruso that Vicky had been rescued. Jake assured Marley that nothing between him and Vicky took place while they were trapped in the abandoned mine and that Vicky had tried to steal gems so that Jake could buy the Plains Motel. Jake disagreed with Marley's belief that Vicky still loved him and hoped to start making plans for their wedding. Chris told Nancy that the treasure brought back memories of Frederick. Larry updated Mac, Chris, and Nancy on Neal and Zane. Mac blamed Neal for putting the Corys in danger, causing Zane's shooting, and betraying his trust. Bridget tended to Vicky. Peter convinced the police not to publicize Jake and Vicky's names because Garbon was still alive and understood that Vicky had stolen jewels to help the Love family. Neal and Nancy celebrated the recovery of the treasure. Pam informed Felicia that Zane's operation was successful. Fayez taunted Felicia over shooting Zane. Vicky told Michael that Jake and Marley annoy her. Michael reflected to Vicky that he had lost the one person that he had loved, prompting Vicky to be rude to Michael. Nancy griped to Marley about Chris treating her like a child and accepted a date with Tim Bass, a friend of Perry's. Jake admitted that Vicky was special to him after they argued about the circumstances that led Jake to follow Vicky to the abandoned mine. Wallingford and Dee assured Felicia that Fayez would suffer. Thomasina told Felicia that a blood donor had been found for Zane. Vicky swore that Jake would never marry Marley. Rachel disagreed with Mac's opinion that he was a good judge of character because of Neal. Rachel was shocked to recognize Michael.
Notes: Last appearance of Dana Klaboe as Amanda Cory.
MARCH 14, 1986 (EP. #5521)
Michael was impressed by Rachel's marriage to Mac and explained that he changed his surname from Garrison to Hudson because the army had botched it during the Vietnam War. After Rachel mentioned her children, Michael evaded the issue of his own children by stating that he had never been married. Donna called Peter from the airport. Fayez was sent to prison. Catlin told Felicia and Sally that Zane's blood donor was Brittany. Dee protested Tim and Nancy's plan to use fake identification cards to get into the Powerhouse while waiting for her cousin Bruce to arrive. Bridget helped Brittany buy a hostess gown at a discount fashion outlet, a gift for Donna, and plan a dinner in hopes of gaining Donna's respect. Chris promised Dee he would not give up on Nancy. Jake professed his innocence when Donna blamed him for putting Vicky's life in danger. Donna refused to believe Peter's claim that Vicky had stolen treasure to save the Love estate and congratulated Peter and Brittany on their marriage. Peter and Brittany planned to go to Hawaii for their belated honeymoon next week. Peter fumed when Donna opined that Brittany was seeking the family's money and that the union had nothing to do with love. Catlin and Sally mused about love being snatched from one's grasp and depending on loved ones. At the Powerhouse, Dee contacted Chris after warning Nancy not to get drunk and sleep with Tim. Pam told Brittany that she could not be a blood donor for Zane because of her pregnancy. When Chris insisted on taking Nancy home, Nancy locked herself in the car and refused to surrender the keys. Felicia told Zane that life would be pointless without him. Donna claimed to Brittany that Carl had swindled the Love family's fortune. Brittany swore to Joyce that Donna would not ruin her marriage to Peter. Annie arrived to donate blood for Zane. Chris realized that a drunk Nancy had hit Mrs. Longo while driving the car.
MARCH 17, 1986 (EP. #5522)
Nancy wept as Chris ordered her to summon an ambulance and heard police sirens. When Jake and Marley returned from Barnesville, Donna laid into Jake for getting Vicky involved in the treasure fiasco. Posing as "Mickey," Cass invited Kathleen to a picnic. Annie was mollified upon learning that Brittany could not donate blood for Zane because of her pregnancy. Felicia assured Zane that he would survive. Donna asked Vicky for her help in stopping Jake and Marley from getting married. Marley insisted that Peter loved Brittany in response to Donna's complaints that she had trapped him into marriage by getting pregnant. Cass was relieved that Kathleen had been goaded into resuming physical therapy. Donna was miffed that Brittany had made out the menus for the month's meals to eliminate leftovers, but agreed to follow Brittany's plan until the end of the week. Larry was suspicious that Chris was determined to establish that he had been driving the car that hit Mrs. Longo because Nancy had been drunk. Dr. Longo swore revenge against Chris. Larry warned Chris that he would likely be arrested even though Mrs. Longo's injuries were not fatal. Kathleen threatened to leave unless "Mickey" revealed himself at the picnic. Zane's condition improved. Michael was pleased that Jake and Marley's wedding date was moved up and looked forward to meeting Donna. Caruso told Michael that he was due to fly to Bonn. Donna asked Marley for time in accepting her and Jake's wedding plans. Chris remonstrated Nancy for being selfish and childish and proclaimed that he was tired of getting Nancy out of trouble. Pam drove Chris to the hospital. Michael lost his temper after Donna vowed to fire him. "Mickey" failed to convince Kathleen to come to the park. Wallingford updated Cass on Zane's condition. Nancy went shopping to forget about her problems. Michael vowed to confront Donna once he returns from Bonn.
MARCH 18, 1986 (EP. #5523)
Dr. Longo told Mac that he had hired Derek Haroldson to prosecute Chris. Nancy unwittingly told Derek that Mac and Rachel would have died without Chris and that he had treated patients while his medical license had been suspended, which included Jake and Carol James, who had become emotionally dependent on Chris. Peter and Annie were thrilled that Zane was no longer in critical condition. Annie mused that Brittany had achieved her objectives. Donna tried hard to be forgiving once she discovered that Brittany had sold an 18th century highboy that had been a family heirloom for a much lower price than the buyer had originally offered. Brittany berated herself for being stupid and vowed to remedy the matter. Chris did not share Mac and Rachel's optimism about winning his case. Rachel went to see Nancy after Chris mentioned the car accident. Nancy accused Derek of tricking her into incriminating Chris and ordered him to leave her place. Marley assured Vicky that she cared about her. Vicky agreed to be Marley's bridesmaid. Donna told Peter that she had not meant to humiliate Brittany and promised to apologize to her. Donna did not share Peter's enthusiasm towards Brittany's plan to hold a garage sale or Bridget clipping coupons and shopping at the supermarket. Dee accidentally told Rachel that Nancy was hung over from drinking. Jake failed to convince Marley that Vicky would not cause delays in their wedding. When Rachel emphasized that Nancy was taking advantage of the independence that Ada had afforded her, Nancy vowed to emulate Rachel's past because the end justified the means, and wailed that she had ruined her and Chris's lives. Jake dreamed of Vicky insisting that he still wanted her. Vicky secretly believed that she and Jake would reconcile once he gets Marley out of his system. Nancy left a phone message for Chris. Nancy was served a subpoena to testify against Chris at the hearing.
MARCH 19, 1986 (EP. #5524)
Peter begged Kathleen to return to Brava. Chris prepared for his upcoming hearing while Nancy was distraught because she had been unable to reach Chris. Fayez expressed willingness to admit to the existence of tomb dust, which was substantiated by medical data from English doctors. Dee tried to console Nancy, who feared that Chris would despise her and that he had spent the night with Pam. Vicky invited Sally to a pre-wedding dinner dance for Jake and Marley and requested alterations on her bridesmaid's dress. Vicky fantasized about plotting with Jake to invade Bay City, getting married, and secretly stole Marley's dress sketch. Peter hoped that Kathleen and Brittany would become friends. Kathleen congratulated Peter on Brittany's pregnancy. Cass lamented that he had been too aggressive with Kathleen and decided to return to Bay City. When Jake questioned Vicky's intentions for throwing them a pre-wedding dinner dance, Marley maintained that Vicky could not hurt them because they loved each other. Chris told Pam that he had unplugged his telephone last night. Pam invited Chris to dinner since she felt confident that Chris would win his case. Ada did not believe that Chris was at fault for the car accident that had injured Mrs. Longo. Thomasina vowed to risk her job at the hospital to help Chris. Kathleen hoped to receive therapy from a French doctor with a long waiting list. Vicky told Jake that she would not give him up without a fight and predicted that he would think of her on his wedding night. Marley told Sally to approve Vicky's alterations to make her sister happy. Mac asked Dr. Longo not to hold the car accident against Chris. Jake tried to convince Kathleen to return to Bay City to attend his and Marley's wedding. Nancy argued with Chris about his telephone being disconnected instead of warning him about Derek. Justin tried to summon Cass when Kathleen arrived for the puppet show.
Notes: Last appearance of Machiste Quintana as Fayez Sedrak.
MARCH 20, 1986 (EP. #5525)
Larry came to question Vicky, who had been implicated in the treasure theft by Fayez. Due to Cass's absence, Justin tried to imitate Cass as "Mickey," which did not fool Kathleen. Michael tried to pull some strings on Vicky's behalf. Larry was not deterred by Vicky's refusal to incriminate herself. To keep Cass's identity as one of the puppeteers secret, Justin told Kathleen that "Mickey" had left, was unlikely to return, and gave the puppet to Kathleen. Cass was approached by a woman named Tanya. Thomasina was dismissed as a witness at Chris's hearing when she tried to give an unsolicited testimonial on Chris's behalf. The judge ruled that Nancy's evidence was admissible despite that Derek Haroldson had tricked her into revealing that Chris had treated Jake and Carol James while his medical license had been suspended. Chris disrupted the court proceedings by insisting that he had tried to convince Carol to find another doctor and was forced to treat her anxiety attack. Neal refused to take another assignment spying for the government because he did not want to put the Cory family in danger. Neal was informed that the Egyptian government wanted every gem that had been stolen from the treasure. Mac gave an impassioned speech on Chris, who maintained that all he had ever wanted to do was to cure people. Chris snapped at Nancy because he predicted that her testimony would end his medical career. Cass politely declined Tanya's dinner invitation. Michael asked Neal not to blow his cover by revealing that he was the president of New Resources. Neal warily accepted Michael's claim that he did not have ill intentions for the Cory family. Bridget informed Vicky that the Justice Department had contacted the Love estate. Kathleen realized that Cass was "Mickey's" puppeteer and booked a one-way flight to Bay City. Michael warned Neal to stay away from Vicky and not to involve her in more treasure heists.
MARCH 21, 1986 (EP. #5526)
Felicia and Wallingford assured Cass that Zane was recovering nicely. Dottie was pleased that Kathleen was returning home. The hospital board suspended Chris's medical license for a year, prompting Chris to accuse them of rendering the decision before the hearing had taken place. Jake reminded Vicky that he was engaged to Marley, that their romance had ended, and encouraged her to cooperate with a federal investigator. Kathleen told Peter that she was returning to Bay City and had a surprise planned for Cass. Peter told Kathleen that Brittany went on a tour of studio apartments. Cass fretted to Felicia and Wallingford that his scheme with "Mickey" had failed because he had not revealed himself as the puppeteer and swore to leave Kathleen alone. Nancy told Chris that she would be lost without him and begged for his forgiveness. Bridget sang Michael's praises to Donna. Michael informed Vicky that he was leaving once Donna had found his replacement as the Love's stable hand. Mac, Ada, and Rachel were optimistic that Chris could successfully appeal the hospital board's decision. Chris decided against writing a book about the treasure. Zane wished to build a house with a building set in the hospital. Felicia nagged Cass about Kathleen. Michael recalled Donna's father expelling him from Donna's life, promising Donna that he would write to her, and Donna professing her love to him. Nancy declined Mac's job offer to read juvenile books at Cory Publishing. Cass and Wallingford disapproved of Chris spending time with Pam instead of Nancy at the Northwoods Inn. Chris disparaged Dr. Longo while dancing with Pam. Donna summoned Michael to the Love estate. Chris felt guilty for being harsh with Nancy. Cass missed Kathleen's call because he and Tanya were getting to know each other. Bridget told Vicky that the federal investigator instructed her not to leave town. Michael reintroduced himself to Donna.
MARCH 24, 1986 (EP. #5527)
As a lonely Tanya convinced Cass to take her to his apartment, Cass's superintendent let Kathleen into it and retrieved her bags. Jake and Marley decided to start house hunting. Donna was thrilled to recognize Michael, who was shaken and overwhelmed by the reunion. When Mr. Reilly threatened Jake should he fail to repay the loan, Marley warned Mr. Reilly that she would report him to the authorities because there were laws against intimidation. Wallingford tried to stop Cass from spending the night with Tanya to no avail. Kathleen took out "Mickey" and a balloon that had the word "hope" printed on it. Donna blamed Jake upon learning from Bridget that a federal agent named Mr. Jamieson had returned to interrogate Vicky. Michael urged Vicky to come clean to the government and offered to hire a lawyer to represent her. Jake gave vague answers to Marley's questions about Mr. Reilly. Marley offered to lend money to Jake. Kathleen heard Cass and Tanya assembling outside of his door. Cass realized that he could not be intimate with Tanya because he was consumed by thoughts of Kathleen and decided to drive Tanya home. Vicky was undaunted when Mr. Jamieson warned that the government could issue a subpoena to force her into testifying in front of a grand jury. Michael promised full restitution to the Egyptian government in exchange for not pressing charges against Vicky for the jewel heist. Vicky was perplexed when Jake berated himself for not taking gems from the treasure. Maisie approved of Jake marrying Marley. Vicky asked a seamstress to make her a dress for the wedding. Michael told Donna that he was quitting his job and that he had enjoyed getting to know Vicky and Marley. Marley wanted Peter to give her away to Jake at their wedding. An upset Kathleen called for a cab. Michael told Donna that he should be acknowledged as Vicky and Marley's father. Kathleen revealed herself to Cass.
MARCH 25, 1986 (EP. #5528)
Michael warned Donna that he would reveal himself as Vicky and Marley's father should she fail to do so in three days. Marley insisted on coming over to Jake's apartment despite his protests. Jake winced from bruises that had been afflicted upon him. Kathleen teased Cass for using "Mickey" to get through to her. Donna accused Michael of wanting to expose Vicky and Marley to the scandal of being the illegitimate daughters of a poor stable boy. Michael lambasted Donna for becoming a deceitful and superficial person. Kathleen promised Cass that she would face her disability. Jake fibbed to Marley that he had been injured while riding his motorcycle. A seamstress declined Vicky's request to make her bridal gown using fabric that was fire-engine red. Donna talked Peter into cancelling his honeymoon to help her deal with Michael's blackmail. Kathleen accepted Cass's marriage proposal. Cass told Kathleen that he would replace the engagement ring he had to sell to pay for his trip to California. Donna begged Vicky to convince Marley to revise the wedding invitations so that they do not refer to Marley as Donna's illegitimate daughter. Wallingford tried to probe Jake on his involvement with Vicky in the abandoned mine. Jake asked for Wallingford's help in getting a job working at the waterfront. Jake sold his motorcycle for $2,000.00. Vicky fantasized about Jake rejecting Marley for her at the wedding ceremony. Cass made alterations to his apartment so that it would be more wheelchair accessible for Kathleen. Peter learned that Michael had given the Cory family his resignation. Peter and Donna were shocked upon reading the newspaper articles about Michael. Dee told Wallingford that she could not convince Tony to get Frank Baines to quit pressuring Jake. Frank made vague threats about Marley when Jake refused to commit to a loan repayment plan. Cass planned to ask Vince for permission to marry Kathleen.
MARCH 26, 1986 (EP. #5529)
Nancy returned from a shopping spree. Chris struggled to write a "Dear Jane Letter" to Nancy. Donna fled when Vicky asked for the reason that Michael had worked as the Love's stable hand upon learning that he was the president of the multi-national conglomerate New Resources. Kathleen promised Cass that she would defend him against Vince, who disapproves of Cass and is protective of Kathleen. Cass assured Kathleen that he had never loved Cecile. Nancy tried to be optimistic that she and Chris would reconcile. Marley covered Nancy's rent by writing her a replacement check for the one that had bounced. Peter told Vicky that Michael got fired after getting into an argument with Donna, suspected that he was attempting to infiltrate Cory Publishing, and was unable to contact Michael. Michael refused his secretary's suggestion that he leave Bay City and insisted that he would only accept phone calls from Donna. Chris was not thrilled when Jake wished to interview him about the treasure for a documentary film. Carter tried to convince Chris that he needed Nancy in his life. Dee and Marley forgave Nancy's debts. Nancy felt certain that her financial problems would be solved by moving back in with Chris, vowed to quit shopping, and to get a job. Michael declined Vicky's offer to loan her $300,000.00 so that Jake could buy the Plains Motel, but was pleased that she had come to request his help. Vicky was puzzled when Michael invited her to join him, Marley, and Jake for dinner. Jake appreciated Marley's optimism after learning that the price of the Plains Motel had increased. Kathleen told Cass that she wants to appease Vince by waiting until they are married before they live together. Cass and Kathleen went on a picnic. Donna told Peter that she would not tell Vicky and Marley about Michael. Nancy wept after Chris officially broke off their romance. Cass helped Kathleen conquer her fears over getting intimate with him.
MARCH 27, 1986 (EP. #5530)
Rachel tried to intercede when Mac accused Neal of being a liar. Kathleen assured Cass that she was not afraid of loving him. Donna told Peter that Michael had written a "farewell letter" to her years ago and feared that Michael was using her to establish a relationship with his daughters. Vicky told an intrigued Marley that Michael was rich and that he had invited Vicky, Marley, and Jake to dinner. Jake hypothesized to Marley that Michael "stomped on other people" to achieve success. Marley assured Jake that he was not a failure. Cass teased Kathleen for not being domestic. Rachel told Mac that Neal was ready to settle down and lead a normal life. Marley suspected that Jake had sold his motorcycle to pay off his debts. Donna was not enthused as Peter chatted about his honeymoon and Brittany's plans for their wing of the Love estate. Peter asked Donna to get Brittany accepted into the Bay City League. Mac refused to hire Neal to work at Cory Publishing because he considered him unreliable, untrustworthy, and felt that he would expect special treatment at the company. Jake told Nancy that he wished to uncover the identity of the unknown buyer who had purchased the Plains Motel. Donna told Michael that she was desperately trying to protect herself and the twins. Michael and Donna realized that her father had ruined their past romance by forging letters addressed to each of them. Mac was upset that Neal and Rachel had concealed Michael's true identity from him. Neal suggested to Rachel that he move out of the Cory estate. Nancy confided in Rachel about her split with Chris. Michael and Donna argued about telling Vicky and Marley the truth. Kathleen refused to spend the night with Cass. Neal gave Nancy advice and kissed her passionately. Michael balked at Donna's idea to tell Vicky and Marley that they had been secretly married. Vicky warned Donna that Michael was determined to expose their secret.
MARCH 28, 1986 (EP. #5531)
Felicia welcomed Zane home but feared that he was overtaxing himself. Liz predicted that Catlin and Sally would reconcile during a planned ski weekend, but quelled Sally's concerns that she and Catlin were rushing things. Vicky pumped Bridget for information about Michael and suspected that he was after the Love fortune. Catlin assured Larry that he would behave himself with Sally. Felicia helped Zane regain his memory. Despite Donna's pleas that other people would relish learning about Vicky and Marley's parentage, Michael maintained that the twins would cope with being their illegitimate daughters. Catlin and Sally booked separate hotel rooms when their car stalled and they failed to locate a towing service out of town. Donna accused Michael of plotting to turn her children against her and blamed Jake for causing a rift between Donna and Marley. Michael gave Donna a week to confess the truth to Vicky and Marley. Vicky denied Neal's assertions that she was nursing feelings for Jake. Michael disagreed with Vicky's belief that she had misjudged Neal, who had convinced the federal government not to press charges against Vicky for stealing the jewels. Michael arranged for Vicky and Marley to meet him at the Love estate to surprise Donna. Catlin and Sally got along in the hotel while eating snacks from a vending machine until Catlin kissed Sally, who accused Catlin of purposely causing the car to stall, forcing them to check into a hotel, and fled. Vicky told Michael that she and Marley loved each other as sisters. Sally tried to get a ride home after failing to start the car. Catlin rushed to find Sally after learning that bears had been cited near the hotel. When Sally refused to return to the hotel with him, Catlin threw Sally over his shoulder and carried Sally as she was kicking and screaming in protest. Donna began to hyperventilate when Michael pushed her to tell Vicky and Marley that he was their father.
MARCH 31, 1986 (EP. #5532)
Catlin brought a furious Sally into the hotel room. Michael told Vicky and Marley that he was their father, prompting Donna to faint. Cass mistook Vince for a prowler and hit him with a saucepan. Kathleen refused to let Vince blame Cass for causing her paralysis. Marley went to summon Dr. Drury while Michael accused Donna of putting on an act. Marley lambasted Michael for making fools of her, Vicky, and Donna. Sally protested as Catlin insisted that they must resolve their differences. Catlin dared Sally to call the police once guests from a neighboring hotel room complained about the two of them being noisy. An angry Marley was not appeased when Michael insisted that he was waiting for Donna to reveal their parentage and promised to never be dishonest again. Vince told Kathleen that a doctor in France had become available so that she could undergo experimental treatment to restore the use of her legs. Catlin laid into Sally for holding his tryst with Brittany against him and stated that he was abandoning hopes of a reconciliation. Michael was frustrated by Vicky's lack of emotional display. Donna questioned Michael's net worth. Michael recalled that he and Donna had made love in her bedroom years ago. MJ sent an annoyed Vince away so that Cass and Kathleen could talk privately about seeking treatment from the French doctor. Michael told Donna that he would be a father to Vicky and Marley and that Jake and Marley's wedding invitations would list Michael and Donna as the parents of the bride. MJ chastised Vince and Cass for arguing about Kathleen seeking treatment. Marley told Jake about Michael. Jake was perturbed that Marley considered him the one person who had been honest with her. Catlin and Sally reached an understanding and became intimate. Donna fantasized about marrying Michael. Kathleen felt guilty for mistreating Cass, decided to have the operation, and vowed to dance at her wedding.
Notes: First appearance of Sally Spencer as MJ McKinnon. First appearance of Duke Stroud as Vince McKinnon.
APRIL 1, 1986 (EP. #5533)
Catlin carried Sally across the threshold into their cabin. Dee was surprised that Marley was not pleased that Michael was her father. Marley advised Michael not to buy her love by offering lavish gifts. Kathleen was amused when Cass had hired a belly dancer to entertain them. Cass admitted that he was scared of losing Kathleen, professed his love, and kissed her. Catlin sheepishly confessed to Sally that he had not kept their cabin tidy during their separation. When Marley wondered whether Michael would leave town once the "novelty" of being a father wore off, Michael asked Caruso to move the corporate headquarters of New Resources to Bay City. Sally consented to moving back into the cabin with Catlin. Marley agreed to consider Michael's offer to send her and Dee to Chicago. Vince accused Cass of ruining Kathleen's life. MJ interceded when Cass and Vince began to insult each other. MJ approved of Cass and Kathleen's romance while Vince preferred Edward for Kathleen. Michael wished to get to know Jake better. Jake promised Marley that he was not trying to get her out of the way by encouraging her and Dee to go to Chicago. Cass agreed to ask Vince for permission to marry Kathleen. Jake told a concerned Marley that he was tired due to lack of sleep. Kathleen was thrilled that Catlin and Sally had reconciled. Sally kept Kathleen's grandmother's locket safe so that she could give it to Cass once she came out of surgery. Wallingford agreed to hire Catlin part-time as a bartender at the Northwoods Inn. Michael assured Donna that they were not competing for Marley's affections, that he was staying in Bay City, and would live above the stables. Frank Baines and an associate chased after Jake, who had fled through his apartment window. Vince refused to give Cass his blessing. Vince, MJ, and Sally watched Cass and Kathleen enjoy a tender moment as she prepared to be moved into an operating room.
APRIL 2, 1986 (EP. #5534)
Neal refused Rachel's offer to give him Sandy's former house and revealed that he was moving out of the Cory estate. Cass advised Kathleen to consider herself engaged to him. Vince assured Kathleen that she would survive the operation. Felicia introduced Zane to Vince. Wallingford was concerned when Vince hinted that Cass and Kathleen may not make it to the altar. Neal complained to Rachel that he had lost patience in trying to win Mac's approval. Ada concluded that Nancy had too much freedom and few responsibilities after learning that she had exceeded her credit card limit by $800.00. Pam broke a date with Chris to watch Kathleen's operation. Felicia tried to soothe Cass's worries about Vince's opposition to his romance with Kathleen. Zane, Felicia, Cass, and Wallingford were thrilled that Catlin and Sally had reunited. Carter recruited Wallingford's help when MJ mentioned that Jake may be in trouble. Mac maintained that he did not trust Neal and would not give him a job at Cory Publishing despite Rachel's protests. Jake recalled the loan shark's implied threats against Marley. Zane and Felicia tried to raise Chris's spirits. Pam assured everyone that Kathleen's surgery was going well. Jake fought off the loan shark and his men's attacks and escaped. When Mac reiterated his belief that Neal would not be a dedicated employee at Cory Publishing, Neal vowed to start at the bottom by working in the Cory stables. Carter and Wallingford found Jake's photograph of Marley covered with blood stains and no sign of Jake. Felicia considered publicizing Chris's suspension on her talk show. Ada declined Mac's offer to pay Nancy's credit card bill and reasoned that moving into the Cory estate caused Nancy to live beyond her means. Chris grew concerned by Ada's blood pressure and agreed to help set Nancy straight. Cass tried to settle his differences with Vince and set out to buy Kathleen an engagement ring within three days.
APRIL 3, 1986 (EP. #5535)
Rachel tried to diffuse Ada's temper as Mac found Nancy hiding in the stables. Donna confronted Brittany over who was in charge of running the Love residence. Cass ignored Wallingford's pleas for him to tidy his appearance before seeing Kathleen. Nancy was distraught when Mac and Rachel refused to act on her behalf against Ada's wrath. Donna questioned the progress of Brittany's pregnancy, which prompted Brittany to ridicule Donna for having illegitimate daughters. Peter comforted Brittany, who exclaimed that Donna was compromising the health of their unborn child by upsetting her. Cass had trouble buying a ring for Kathleen. Peter told Donna that he had approved Brittany's proposed household budget but permitted Donna to choose their wine selection. Wallingford gave Carter money to buy a pair of glasses and marked cards to use in a rigged, high-stakes poker game against Tony the Tuna and tempted Cass into participating by stressing that he could lend Jake money to pay off Frank and buy Kathleen's engagement ring with the winnings. Donna blackmailed Dr. Longo into releasing Brittany's hospital records to her. Ada became ill after laying into Nancy for using fake identification, drinking while still a minor, and causing the car accident that had injured Mrs. Longo. Peter promised to protect Brittany from Donna. Father Molloy ignored Vince's protests and agreed to let Cass reserve the church for a May wedding date. Nancy blamed herself for Ada's poor health as Rachel summoned a doctor for her. Wallingford and Carter fibbed to MJ that Jake had joined Marley in Chicago. MJ felt that Vince would mellow towards Cass and Kathleen's wedding plans upon seeing an engagement ring. Donna learned that Brittany had lied about her baby's due date. Ada planned to find a new place for herself and Nancy to live. Cass questioned Wallingford's judgement in using counterfeit money for the poker game.
APRIL 4, 1986 (EP. #5536)
Donna vowed to make Brittany pay for lying about her baby's due date. When Felicia tried to probe Wallingford on the reason that he needed to borrow her car, Wallingford reminded Felicia that he had promised Zane that he would not involve her in anything underhanded or dangerous. Donna swore that she would not allow Brittany to hurt Peter and that she would have Brittany expelled from the Love estate. Bridget intervened when Donna and Brittany got into a physical altercation. MJ and Carter advised Cass not to interrupt Kathleen's physical therapy. Wallingford and Carter got Cass away from MJ to reveal their plan for the poker game: Using a marked deck of cards, Carter would stand outside, look through the window and read the cards while wearing sunglasses, and relay the information to Wallingford, who would then pass it along to Cass by using a walkie-talkie and secret earphone. Joyce stopped Cass from visiting Kathleen while she was in physical therapy. Bridget accepted Brittany's claims that Donna had attacked her, though Donna predicted that Peter would be hurt to learn that Brittany had lied about the baby's due date and voiced suspicions over its paternity. Brittany asked Bridget to take her to the hospital after experiencing sharp abdominal pain. At the poker game, Tony the Tuna introduced Cass to Mr. Riley, Rocco, Frank Baines, and Lefty and issued a comprehensive warning. Wallingford and Carter were forced to reveal their plot after finding Felicia hiding in car. Felicia decided to act as their getaway driver. Dr. Levine deduced that Brittany was in fine condition and unwittingly filed the medical records that she had altered. Cass switched the deck of cards as Carter and Wallingford assumed their positions. Brittany tricked Donna into believing that she would confess the truth to Peter. Felicia tried to smooth things over when a cop approached the car. The walkie-talkie broke and the loan sharks searched Cass.
Notes: Appearance by George Pentecost as Tony the Tuna.
APRIL 7, 1986 (EP. #5537)
Nancy refused to move out of the Cory mansion. A police officer searched Felicia for weapons and warned that she was in an area that was a "favorite haunt" of prostitutes. Wallingford and Carter dealt with a dog while trying to help Cass with the poker game, which was resumed once the loan sharks failed to find anything incriminating on Cass. Felicia summoned Zane by calling him from a phone booth. Catlin and Sally vowed to locate their divorce papers and resolve the legal issues involving their invalid marriage. Carter and Wallingford cringed when Tony the Tuna accused Cass of cheating at the poker game and beckoned for Rocco to settle the matter. Ada accused Nancy of being self-centered, incapable of making her own decisions, and living beyond her means. Mac intervened when Nancy denounced Rachel as a hypocrite for marrying a rich man. Catlin and Sally comforted Kevin, who confessed that he had suffered from nightmares of Catlin leaving him and Sally for good. Mac condemned Nancy's behavior. The police officer grew embarrassed upon realizing that Felicia was a celebrity, but refused to let Felicia make a phone call. During a police raid, Cass grabbed money from the poker table and fled. Felicia, Wallingford, and Carter deduced that Cass's life may be in danger since he was in an area of the bay called "Devil's Current." Rachel denied Nancy's assertions that she wanted her to play nursemaid to their sickly, aged mother so that Ada would no longer be a burden to Rachel. Liz was thrilled by Catlin and Sally's news. Wallingford told Catlin and Vince about Cass's poker game. MJ appeared with an envelope Cass had given to her, which was a life insurance policy with Kathleen listed as the beneficiary. Mac was impressed that Neal had stuck to working at the stables. A court clerk was incapable of helping Catlin and Sally. Felicia sobbed after assuming that the authorities had found Cass's body.
Notes: Appearance by George Pentecost as Tony the Tuna.
APRIL 8, 1986 (EP. #5538)
Ada tried to get her furniture out of storage. Felicia identified the body of the dead man as Rocco at the morgue. Zane theorized that Cass had gone into hiding. Wallingford told Vince that Cass loved Kathleen. Rachel failed to talk Ada out of getting her own place. Bridget told Peter about Donna and Brittany's fight. A phone call from the police station interrupted Nancy's chat with Ada. Donna assumed that Michael was scared of getting too close to her in the main house of the Love estate. After reading Kathleen's note to Cass, Zane and Felicia decided to buy Kathleen's engagement ring to make it appear as though Cass were alive and well, though Wallingford refused to believe that Cass was dead. Peter ordered Donna not to upset Brittany and insisted that her medical records had been fabricated. During a confrontation about the progress of Brittany's pregnancy, Brittany had more abdominal pains and begged Peter to take her to the hospital. Peter apologized for doubting Brittany's honesty and was relieved that Dr. Levine concluded that she was in good health. Zane and Felicia were impressed by the engagement ring that Cass had chosen for Kathleen. Larry objected when Mr. Quigley fired Ada at the police station due to government cutbacks. Donna helped Michael unpack his belongings and hoped that Brittany would move out of the Love estate. Nancy could not talk Ada out of moving out of the Cory estate since she was unemployed. The doctor forbade Joyce from delivering notes between Cass and Kathleen. Thomasina was livid when Carter confessed to Vince that he had been involved in the poker game to help Jake, Cass, and Wallingford. Wallingford told Zane and Felicia that Cass had sought refuge with Father Molloy. When Peter berated Donna for misinterpreting Brittany's medical records, Donna admitted defeat. Vince told MJ that he was getting Cass out of hiding and bringing him to Kathleen.
APRIL 9, 1986 (EP. #5539)
MJ followed Vince to the church. Sally tried to find the divorce papers. Zane tried to console Felicia in her office. Wallingford informed Zane and Felicia that he could not locate a contract on Cass's life. Liz became frightened when Sally jokingly claimed that being unable to find the divorce papers was a sign that she and Catlin should not get married. Vince searched for Cass. Sally lectured Kevin for burning the divorce papers in the fireplace. Brittany half-heartedly congratulated Catlin on reconciling with Sally. MJ tried to restrain Vince unsuccessfully and was forced to leave due to receiving a page from her beeper. Felicia told Zane that she was worried about Le Soleil losing money for Cass's sake. Brittany fantasized about reuniting with Catlin, revealing Catlin as the baby's father, and raising their son together. Brittany praised Peter for defending her against Donna. Peter and Catlin delivered separate toasts to the Ewings and their unborn child. Cass mistakenly bashed Vince over the head with the confession booth's curtain and started to flee. Vince apologized for thinking ill of Cass over the poker game because he had learned that Cass had participated in it to help the McKinnons. Zane asked two young people named Bruce and Janice to work out with weights while suggesting to Felicia that Le Soleil abandon the use of visualizations, specialize in an American healthy, sexy image, and change the name of the company to "Gallant's." Zane was pleased that Catlin and Sally got back together. Sally and Brittany had an amicable exchange at a bar. Cass rejoiced upon learning from Wallingford that the D.A. was not pressing charges against him or Jake. Brittany thought of Catlin while making love to Peter. Catlin and Sally settled on getting married the first week of May. Bruce and Janice attracted a crowd. Cass was annoyed that the jewelry store clerk had sold the engagement ring he had picked for Kathleen to Felicia.
APRIL 10, 1986 (EP. #5540)
Cass came to the hospital looking for Felicia. Rachel asked Quinn to offer Ada a job at Frame-Harding Construction. Nancy moved out of her apartment. Dee showed Marley's possessions to Vicky. Jake was evasive when Marley quizzed him about his injured foot and the reason that she had been unable to reach Jake while she and Dee were in Chicago. When Wallingford accidentally told Jake that he was safe from the Syndicate in front of Marley, Wallingford tried to cover for Jake by claiming that he was interested in making a documentary on the mob. Marley forgave Jake, who confessed that he had accepted money from loan sharks. Felicia told Cass that she had waited in the getaway car during the poker game and bought Kathleen's engagement ring while he was missing. Cass paid Felicia for the engagement ring. Felicia assured Cass that the changes she was making at Le Soleil would not affect his position at the company. Nancy decided to ask Felicia for a job. Dee gushed to Vicky about Chicago. Vicky privately swore that Jake and Marley's wedding would never take place. Felicia informed Nancy that she had laid off too many people at Le Soleil to hire anyone right now and suggested she work as a waitress at Smiley's. Cass charmed a nurse into letting him into Kathleen's room. Ada declined Quinn's job offer because the company's union provided a successful counselor to their employees. Ada lectured Rachel for trying to get her a job. Maisie trained Nancy to work at Smiley's as a waitress. Neal advised Vicky that she must accept the fact that Jake was marrying Marley. Cass recruited Wallingford's help upon learning that the door to Kathleen's room was locked. Ada praised Nancy for finding work. Kathleen was surprised to see an engagement ring on her finger upon waking up from a nap. The nurse thought she was hallucinating when she heard Cass's voice emanating from the closet in Kathleen's room.
APRIL 11, 1986 (EP. #5541)
Donna was baffled that Vicky was willing to date Chris despite that he was no longer a doctor and had squandered a perfectly good family name. Kathleen claimed that she was practicing ventriloquism, sent the nurse to the far end of the hospital, and told Cass to come out of her closet. A blonde woman named Erika Walker ordered Ralph to blackmail Donna by threatening to reveal to Marley that she had hired Ralph to impersonate Michael. Michael readily agreed to give Marley away to Jake at their wedding ceremony. Marley stated it was complicated when Michael asked about the situation between Jake, Marley, and Vicky. Erika ordered Ralph to press Donna for more money after being unimpressed by the $3,000.00 check that Donna had written to Ralph. Cass talked to Kathleen about going on a world tour for their honeymoon. Nancy was appalled when Chris and Vicky arrived at Smiley's together. A vulnerable Donna asked Michael to help her change her ways. Dr. Walsh was furious when the nurse found Cass hiding in the shower of Kathleen's hospital room. Kathleen was interviewed by reporters. Donna invited Michael to the house to look at baby pictures of Marley. Chris and Nancy chatted briefly. Vicky evaded Neal's inquiry into the reason that she enjoyed tormenting Nancy. Cass was thrilled that Dr. Walsh made plans to discharge Kathleen from the hospital tomorrow. Vicky made Nancy believe that she and Chris were spending the night together. MJ gave Kathleen her wedding veil and felt confident that Vince would accept Cass. Donna imagined getting intimate with Michael. When Michael caught Ralph attempting to flee the Love estate with a valuable painting, Ralph introduced himself as Michael Garrison. Nancy apologized to Marley for voicing suspicions that Jake and Vicky had made love while being trapped in the mine. Kathleen fell out of bed while reaching for her veil that was lying on a chair.
Notes: Actress, Barbara Eda-Young appeared as Erika Walker in this episode. Previously, Eda-Young appeared as Regine Lindeman on AW (1977-1978).
APRIL 14, 1986 (EP. #5542)
Brittany accused Donna of preparing to spend the night with Michael. Michael introduced himself as Tom Caruso who was setting up a security system at the Love estate. Felicia raved about Kathleen's progress as she and Zane prepared for her to return home. Vince and Cass rushed to Kathleen's side as Joyce summoned Dr. Walsh. Brittany revealed to Michael that Ralph tried to gain access to Vicky and Marley's inheritance by posing as their father, that Jake had exposed him as an imposter, and expressed suspicions that Donna was involved in the scheme. Donna and Brittany insulted each other over their respective sense of fashion, Brittany's size, and Donna accepting Ralph as Michael. Felicia and Maisie took calls meant for Cass from a mysterious French woman. Zane and Felicia celebrated his recovery. Felicia planned a party for Catlin and Sally at the Northwoods Inn. Michael summoned Donna to the living room. Dr. Walsh advised Kathleen not to jeopardize her recovery and promised that she would be released from the hospital tomorrow. Vince asked Cass to meet him at Smiley's to talk privately. Felicia decided to invite Michael to Catlin and Sally's party in hopes of enticing him to invest in Gallant's. Chris told Zane and Felicia that Peter was working on his appeal of the hospital board's decision. Zane hired Chris to work for him. Brittany observed as Michael confronted Donna and Ralph over their deception, ordered Ralph to leave the Love estate, and refused to believe Donna's declarations of innocence. Cass consoled Kathleen over potentially being unable to walk down the aisle at their wedding and bonding with Vince. Maisie told Vince that the landlord was raising her rent. Michael broke a door in anger. Vince begrudgingly dropped his objections towards Cass and Kathleen's wedding plans. Michael left in disgust and fury when Donna begged him not to reveal her duplicity to Vicky and Marley.
Notes: Last appearance of Sara Nall as Joyce Campbell.
APRIL 15, 1986 (EP. #5543)
Nancy cited the new apartment as the reason she has been crying in her sleep. Donna feared that Michael would reveal her and Ralph's deception to Marley. Kathleen's family and friends celebrated her return home. Nancy hypothesized to Ada that Chris was enjoying a sexual relationship with Vicky and pondered whether she should tell Marley that Jake and Vicky likely slept together while being trapped in the abandoned mine. Brittany tricked Marley into pressing her to reveal that Donna had hired Ralph to pose as Michael, though Marley was suspicious of Brittany's motives for providing the information to her. Sally felt certain that her wedding ceremony on the first week in May would last and that Liz and Kevin were thrilled by Catlin and Sally's impending nuptials. Vince lectured Jake for getting involved with loan sharks. Jake remained firm in his resolve to stick to Marley despite Vince's warnings about the Love family and money. Vince complained about Cass's work ethic and honeymoon plans for himself and Kathleen. Cass refused to let Kathleen try to stand. As Brittany observed, Marley seethed upon learning that Vicky had known the truth about Ralph. Donna broke down in sobs when Marley stated that she was happier believing that her mother had died and threatened to move to California once Marley married Jake. Nancy griped about her problems to Neal. Vince disparaged Cass after returning from an unsuccessful job interview. Vicky accused Jake of being distant because she bothers him. Neal urged Vicky to give up on Jake. Brittany told Neal about the drawbacks of working for the Love family and hired him. Cass denied Kathleen's assertion that he wanted to travel to Marrakesh to see Cecile. Jake was livid once Marley told him about Donna's involvement with Ralph. Nancy was cynical about Jake's affection. Vicky paid the printer to alter Jake and Marley's wedding date on the invitations.
APRIL 16, 1986 (EP. #5544)
Marley laid into Vicky for being dishonest. Sally was not pleased to find Brittany with Catlin at the Northwoods Inn. Cass told a frustrated Kathleen that she would not be able to walk after one morning of physical therapy. Vince ordered Cass to leave Kathleen alone. Catlin praised Sallys confidence for inviting Peter and Brittany to their party. Vicky was dismissive when Marley lectured her for supporting Donna's lies and mentioned her plans to move to California once she marries Jake. Marley fled when Vicky cryptically remarked that everyone would know the things that she was dishonest about soon. The doctor advised Kathleen that her expectations were unrealistic and that she must be patient with therapy. After Cass received phone calls from the mysterious French woman, Vince griped about Cass using the McKinnon's phone number. Vicky kept Jake and Marley's wedding invitations from Bridget. Zane advised Felicia not to interfere when she mentioned Sally's invitation to Brittany. Michael was incredulous when Vicky claimed that she was terrified that Jake was in trouble with loan sharks and sensed that she was trying to keep Marley from marrying Jake. Cass failed to convince Kathleen that leading a full social life and attending Catlin and Sally's party would motivate her to continue therapy. Cass chose a guilt-ridden MJ as his date for the party to make Kathleen jealous. Michael told Vicky that he had stopped the federal government from pursuing charges against her and warned Vicky not to interfere in Jake and Marley's wedding plans. When Michael noticed that the wedding invitations were set for July, Vicky hinted that Marley was losing faith in Jake. Bridget disapproved when Brittany seemed happy about Donna's troubles. Vicky collapsed in a chair as Jake accused her of trying to hurt Marley. Kathleen fled after seeing Cass and MJ together at the party. Cass refused to let MJ explain his plot to Vince.
APRIL 17, 1986 (EP. #5545)
Jake was not moved as Vicky wailed that Marley had taken him away from her. At Catlin and Sally's party, four strange women arrived looking for Cass. Cass refused to defend his actions as Vince remonstrated him and MJ for hurting Kathleen. Neal offered to check on Nancy at Smiley's for Mac and Rachel, then mused about the Loves leading complicated, twisted lives after seeing an invitation for Jake and Marley's wedding. Jake remained unconvinced after learning from the printer that the July wedding date had been a mistake. Cass insisted to Catlin that the phone calls from the French woman were a practical joke. Liz boasted to Clarice about receiving an invitation to Jake and Marley's wedding. Brittany charmed Peter into attending the party by producing a tuxedo for him to wear and claimed that her flashy dress symbolized her pride in him and their unborn child. Neal analyzed his need for Mac's approval. Vince missed an opportunity to be hired as Michael's chauffeur. Sally agreed to call Kathleen for Cass and MJ despite that she disapproved of his plot to make Kathleen jealous. Kathleen refused to talk to Sally. Michael told Donna that he could not forgive her for hurting Marley, accused Donna of being responsible for altering the wedding invitations, and stated that she should not care about his opinion of her. Donna was crushed that Michael was attending the party with his secretary, Sherri. Dee covered for Nancy at Smiley's so that she and Neal could crash the party. Jake squirmed when Vicky conceded that Marley deserved happiness. Sally ignored Liz's protests and greeted Brittany. Vince made a cryptic remark to Maisie about the Loves. Jake and Marley agreed to marry in July. Vicky called Chris upon learning that Nancy was attending the party with Neal. MJ got nervous as Cass prepared to carry out the second phase of his scheme. A hush fell over the crowd as Donna arrived at the Northwoods Inn.
APRIL 18, 1986 (EP. #5546)
Cass assured MJ that his plan for Kathleen would succeed. Vince doubted Ada's capabilities as they competed for a job working an apartment night shift. Donna told the party guests that she had realized the importance of honesty, wished to redeem herself because of past mistakes, and apologized for concluding that everyone would hold Donna's actions against Vicky and Marley. Cass disappeared after receiving another mysterious call. Mac, Peter, and Marley approved of Donna's speech. Jake and Marley left the party with Donna, who was crushed to see Michael with Sherri. Quinn's date, an Assistant D.A. named David, praised Rachel's art work. Catlin and Sally accepted Donna's apology for crashing the party. Brittany warned Chris not to get involved with Vicky, who was relieved that Chris and Nancy were finished. Nancy denounced Vicky once she arrived at the party with Chris. Felicia informed Cass that Kathleen had fled after spotting him with a bevy of women. Donna and Marley made amends. Michael told Donna that he was skeptical towards her speech and decided against spending time with Donna alone. Neal lambasted Vicky for hurting Nancy, who advised Chris that he was making a fool of himself over Vicky. A mysterious brunette held Cass's monogrammed scarf in her hand. Mr. Rodriguez informed Vince and Ada that he had hired his brother-in-law for the job, prompting Vince and Ada to argue. Nancy seethed when Vicky tricked her into believing that she was having a wicked conversation with Jake. Vicky hinted that she and Chris had become close and dared Nancy to tell Marley that she suspects that Jake and Vicky were sneaking around. Michael and Donna separately brooded about their disagreements. Vince and Ada got into a car accident after insulting each other. Kathleen angrily threw pots and pans at Cass, who tried to block them with his arms while professing his love to Kathleen.

Nancy warned Vicky that she would regret sneaking around with Jake once Marley learned about it. Cass diffused Kathleen's temper by roughly planting kisses onto her lips. Vince and Ada decided to forget about the car accident to avoid their individual insurance premiums being raised. Sally insisted that she was enjoying herself at the party to counter Brittany's remarks about the spectacles of Cass and Donna. Brittany asked Catlin to talk to Sally on her behalf because she wanted the women to become friends. Marley apologized to Donna for stating that she had been happier thinking her mother had died, but maintained that she needed to talk to Jake before they decided against moving to California after getting married. Ada cackled since her prediction that Vince would get a flat tire on his way home had come true. Maisie told Ada that she cannot renew her lease. Cass took Kathleen to Zane and Felicia's property. Maisie objected to Vince disparaging female drivers. Peter and Catlin gushed about marriage. Sally tried to intervene when Liz made insinuations about the progress of Brittany's pregnancy, prompting Brittany to denounce Liz for spitefully trying to ruin her life. Donna told Marley that her father would not allow Donna to spend much time with Marley as a baby. As Vicky eavesdropped in the hallway, Donna and Marley lamented about Vicky growing up without a family and noted the different relationships that they had with each other and Vicky. Catlin and Sally vowed that they would not allow Brittany to bother them. Ada lectured Nancy for taking advantage of Maisie and Dee and was relieved that Nancy had not talked to Marley. Vince recounted for MJ that Mary had seemed nervous and tense about six weeks before her death. Brittany told Peter that she would be joining Gallant's tomorrow. Vicky wallowed in self-pity because everyone loved Marley and not her. Cass and Kathleen made love.

The mysterious French woman was displeased when Cass avoided her phone calls. Sally got defensive when Catlin wished to talk about Liz and Brittany. Brittany quelled Peter's concerns about the progress of her pregnancy. When Brittany chastised herself for embarrassing Peter at the party by being unrefined, Peter insisted that he loved her unconditionally. Sally reminded Catlin that they were writing their wedding vows and swore that Brittany would not interfere in their impending nuptials. Kathleen told Cass that she was content with him. Brittany convinced Felicia that she had sought her help with fitness, fashion, and etiquette because Donna ridiculed her each time she makes mistakes. Thomasina got upset upon realizing that she would have to miss work because Grant II's babysitter was ill. Cass arranged for Kathleen to do physical therapy at Gallant's with a woman named Jessica. Felicia told Cass privately that she was thrilled that he and Kathleen had reconciled. Carter and Thomasina argued about her unfulfilled needs while Carter juggles school and a job at the Northwoods Inn. Cass and Kathleen went cruising in a pink Cadillac while chewing gum and wearing sunglasses. At a closed amusement park, Cass and Kathleen raced a young girl on roller skates. Brittany boasted that, unlike Donna with Vicky and Marley, her child would be born in wedlock. Felicia advised Sally that she was complicating matters unnecessarily by worrying that Catlin may have fathered Brittany's child and to discuss the issue with him. Catlin confided his troubles about Brittany to Zane. Cass and Kathleen rode the Ferris wheel, played games at a ball-throwing booth, and had a picnic. Zane and Felicia compared notes on the Ewings. Catlin muttered threats when Peter's arrival stopped him from questioning Brittany about her baby's paternity. Cass and Kathleen concluded that their day together had been perfect.

When Neal remarked that Brittany had married well, Brittany accused Neal of pursuing the Love women. Michael sent a dinner invitation to Donna in the form of a paper airplane that flew through the window. Vicky made provocative remarks about Chris and Jake to Nancy and suggested that she reveal everything to Marley. Donna told Marley that she would not be foolish again by dating Michael. Brittany tried to assure Michael that Neal would do a fine job working in the Love stables. When Rachel and Nancy presented her hatred towards Vicky in a hypothetical manner, Felicia explained that she believed in helping friends while Zane felt that she should mind her own business. Marley was intrigued by Michael's recollections of his past with Donna, who rejected Michael's dinner invitation. Donna warned Brittany about the consequences should Peter learn the truth about the baby. Jake disputed Vince's disparaging remarks about women. Ada failed to inform Vince that the job as the Cory family's gardener had been filled. Maisie searched for a new location and name for Smiley's. Michael told Donna that he was not accustomed to waiting for women. Rachel prevented Nancy from talking to Jake about Vicky by taking her on a shopping spree. Nancy groused to Felicia that Vicky had lied about her car being in a repair shop so that she could get a ride home from Jake. Jake questioned the identity of the person that had told Michael about his involvement with loan sharks. Mac was amused as Vince fought with Ada about receiving an offer to work as the Cory family's gardener. Jake apologized to Vicky for mistreating her, confessed that he had lingering feelings for her, but wished that they had made a clean break. Michael did not believe Neal's enthusiasm towards working in the Love stables and warned Neal to steer clear of his daughters. Michael declined Donna's dinner invitation after accepting a date with Sherri.

Cass spotted Kathleen doing physical therapy in a corner at Gallant's. Catlin recalled that Brittany stated that her baby was due in late summer and that Zane had suggested that he talk to Brittany about it. Donna forced an appalled Brittany to play a bingo game that included a list of the potential fathers of Brittany's baby to gauge her reactions and swore that Brittany would not ruin Peter's life or gain access to the Love's money. Sally noted that Catlin had seemed distracted. Kathleen became discouraged with physical therapy again. MJ disapproved of Cass's plan to take Kathleen to Catlin and Sally's wedding to check out the competition and pick out things for her trousseau. A furious Jake told Marley that someone had revealed his involvement with loan sharks to KBAY and that he was identified as a juvenile offender. Neal demanded a close acquaintance with Michael and dinner invitations from Donna in exchange for helping Vicky ruin Jake's life. Brittany confessed to Zane that Catlin was her baby's father. Catlin ordered Donna to leave when she probed him about the paternity of Brittany's baby. Brittany conceded to Zane that Catlin did not want her and that she had to make the best of the situation. An angry Catlin told Sally that his business with Donna was confidential. Jake promised Marley that they would marry as planned. Cass took Kathleen to buy lingerie. Vicky needled Donna for declining Michael's dinner invitation and his potential romance with Sherri. Donna was displeased when Vicky mentioned that Michael had wanted to talk to her about Jake's dealings with loan sharks. MJ was pessimistic to Kathleen about her dating prospects. Donna recruited Vicky to break up Jake and Marley. Jake lost his job with $1,400.00 to his name. Cass called Kathleen a traitor in response to Kathleen's comment to MJ that she should postpone the wedding. Catlin came to the Love stables to confront Brittany.

Kathleen called out to Cass, who denounced her as a traitor and walked out on her. Jake angrily told Marley that he was moving in with Vince and would not blame her should she decide not to marry him. Catlin tried unsuccessfully to get Brittany to confirm whether he had fathered her baby, insisted that he was marrying Sally out of love and not obligation, and that her baby's paternity would not change matters. MJ took Kathleen to a therapy session and searched for Cass. Michael protested upon learning that his dinner plans with Donna involved family business instead of it being a social occasion. Jake swore revenge against the person who got him fired at KBAY by telling his boss about his dealings with loan sharks. Vince groused about disliking the Love family. Thomasina confided to Lily about her and Carter's marital troubles. Vince suspected that Donna had caused Jake to lose his job. Michael and Donna reminisced about using the nicknames "Blackie" and "Mike" during their past romance. Catlin was revolted when Brittany claimed that she purposely got pregnant so that Peter would marry her. MJ convinced Cass to visit Kathleen and asked Maisie to make the wedding cake. MJ thought of the strange phone calls that Cass had been receiving. Lily offered to babysit Grant II so that Thomasina could return to school. Jake and Marley made amends. Sally told Catlin that it would make her unhappy should they discover that Brittany was carrying his child. Brittany threatened to expose Donna and Catlin's past affair to Michael, Vicky, and Marley. Vicky posed as Marley to coax Nancy into seeing her so that she could gripe about Jake and Vicky. Kathleen feared Cass's actions while he was in a fit of pique. Michael surprised Donna with a candlelight dinner, a pianist, and waiters in the stables. Sally took Brittany for a drive to have a frank chat with her. Kathleen accosted Cass while he was talking to Sherri.
