Last appearance of Alice Mary Riley as Susan "Betsy" Giles on AW was October 22, 1971. Last appearance of John Karlen as loan shark, George Casey was November 2, 1971.

January 29, 2023:

• Classic synopses written for 1971 (August 5 - September 21).
• New Info: First appearance of Tracey Brown and Christopher Corwin as Michael and Marianne Randolph was August 31, 1971. First mention of the Perrini family was made by Ada Hobson on September 3, 1971. Susan Matthews Shearer moved to New York with Dan Shearer, who accepted a job offer at hospital in Westchester County, NY. Last appearance of Seth Holzlein as Jamie Frame was September 8, 1971. Last appearance of Joseph Ponazecki as Dr. David Thornton was September 22, 1971.

January 15, 2023:

• Sad News: Actor Ben Masters (Vic Strang, 1982) died on January 11, 2023 at the age of 75 due to complications from covid-19.
• New Info: The character of Ernie Downs died on August 16, 1971 in Arizona as a result of a heart attack. Christine Cameron appeared as Dan's daughter, Barbara Shearer from August 16 - September 7, 1971. Jeanne Lange (Carol Lamonte, 1974-1976) appeared as a student nurse named Cathy Russo on August 18, 1971. Correction: John Dewey Carter's first appearance as Grant Todd was on June 18, 1984.

January 2, 2023:
